Fire Pits & Fire Tables

Fire Pits & Fire Tables covers more than 2,500 outdoor fire features, including gas fire pits, fire tables, fire bowls, drop-in burner systems and matching water bowls for patios, pool decks, rooftops and hospitality spaces. It is aimed at homeowners planning an outdoor living area as well as landscapers, designers and commercial properties. Most pieces fall between about $260 and $6,100, with burner components at the low end and large finished concrete and stone fire features at the high end.
How to choose a fire pit or fire table
Decide on fuel: natural gas or propane
Natural gas units connect to a permanent gas line, so you never refill a tank, but they need a licensed installer to run the line and size it for the burner’s BTU rating. Propane units run from a standard 20 pound tank, often hidden inside the base of a fire table, which makes them easier to place and move. Many burner systems are sold in separate natural gas and propane versions, so confirm which one you are ordering before checkout. Wood burning pits need no gas work but produce smoke and sparks and are restricted in many towns, so check local codes and HOA rules first.
Match BTU output and ignition to how you will use it
Higher BTU output means a taller flame and more heat. For a small seating area, a lower output burner is comfortable; for larger groups or cool climates, look for more. Ignition type also matters. Match lit units are simple and inexpensive, push button spark ignition is convenient, and electronic ignition with a flame sensing safety valve, a common feature on HPC Fire systems, adds a layer of protection and suits commercial installs where staff turn units on and off daily.
Size it for the space and clearances
Measure the area and allow at least 3 feet of open space around the fire feature for walking and seating. Keep it clear of overhangs, low branches and combustible walls per the manufacturer’s clearance specifications. Table height also sets the mood: coffee table height units around 20 inches pair with lounge seating, while taller chat height or dining height tables suit chairs and bar stools.
Choose durable materials
Glass fiber reinforced concrete, like that used by Prism Hardscapes, is strong and lighter than solid concrete, and comes in many colors. Stainless steel burners and pans resist rust; marine grade 316 steel is the better pick near the coast or pools. Cover the unit when not in use, keep drain holes clear so rainwater does not pool in the burner pan, and refresh lava rock or fire glass as needed.
Main product types
The category centers on complete gas fire pits and fire tables, drop-in burner kits and inserts for custom builds, fire bowls, and fire and water bowl combinations for poolside designs. Concrete water bowls are also offered in matching finishes so you can build a coordinated look. Featured makers include HPC Fire, Prism Hardscapes, The Outdoor Plus and Ohioflame.
