Saunas

Our Saunas collection includes more than 60 home saunas and related heat therapy equipment: far infrared cabins in hemlock and other woods, traditional sauna rooms, and steam bath generators for converting a shower into a steam room. Units range from compact 1 person cabins to 2, 3 and larger family sizes for indoor and outdoor settings. Most saunas fall between about $1,350 and $4,700.How to choose a saunaPick infrared or traditional heatInfrared saunas use carbon or ceramic panels to warm the body directly, running at about 120 to 150 degrees Fahrenheit and heating up in 15 to 30 minutes. Many people find the lower air temperature easier for longer sessions. Traditional saunas use an electric or wood stove with rocks to heat the air to roughly 160 to 195 degrees, and you can pour water on the rocks for bursts of steam. Choose based on the experience you want and the space available.Size the sauna to how you will use itPerson ratings assume people sitting close together. If you want to lie down or share sessions comfortably, size up one person. Check the exterior footprint and height, and leave a few inches of clearance around the cabin for airflow. Measure doorways and stairs, since prefab cabins arrive as panels that must reach the room.Check electrical and placement needsSmall infrared units often plug into a standard 120 volt outlet on a dedicated 15 or 20 amp circuit. Larger infrared and most traditional saunas need a 240 volt dedicated circuit installed by an electrician. Indoor cabins need a level floor and a room that is not damp. Outdoor saunas need a level, well drained base such as a concrete pad or pavers, along with a weatherproof roof and a GFCI protected supply. Steam generators need a water line, a drain and a vapor sealed, fully enclosed shower.Look at wood and maintenanceHemlock is light colored, stable and low in resin, a common choice for infrared cabins. Cedar adds a natural aroma and resists moisture well for outdoor use. Leave interior wood unsealed, wipe benches after use, keep the door open briefly to dry the cabin, and use a towel on benches to limit staining.Sauna types at a glanceIndoor infrared cabins are the simplest to install in a spare room or basement. Traditional saunas deliver higher heat and steam, outdoor models create a backyard retreat, and steam generators turn an enclosed shower into a steam room.Orders of $999 or more ship free within the United States; a $200 flat rate applies below that.
