Toilets
Toilets includes 80 products for residential and light commercial bathrooms: one-piece toilets, wall-hung toilets, smart toilets with heated seats and integrated bidet functions, dual flush models and related parts and seats. It is for homeowners remodeling a bath, contractors replacing fixtures and anyone upgrading to a modern, water efficient design. Most products fall between about $80 and $2,050, with seats and parts at the low end and smart toilets at the high end.
How to choose a toilet
Measure the rough-in first
The rough-in is the distance from the finished wall to the center of the floor drain or closet bolts. Most US homes use a 12 inch rough-in, though 10 inch and 14 inch rough-ins appear in older homes. Measure before you shop and buy a toilet that matches, otherwise it will not sit correctly. Also confirm clearances: building codes generally call for at least 15 inches from the toilet’s centerline to a side wall and 21 inches of clear space in front.
Choose bowl shape, height and style
Elongated bowls are more comfortable for most adults, while round bowls save a couple of inches in small bathrooms. Comfort or chair height toilets put the seat around 17 to 19 inches from the floor, which is easier for taller users and those with limited mobility. One-piece toilets have no seam between tank and bowl, making them easier to clean. Wall-hung toilets mount to an in-wall carrier and tank, free up floor space and simplify mopping, but they require opening the wall for installation.
Compare flush performance and water use
Look at gallons per flush. Models at 1.28 GPF meet WaterSense level efficiency, and dual flush designs such as 1.1 and 1.6 GPF let you use less water for liquid waste. Vortex or siphonic flush systems pull water through the bowl efficiently and help keep it clean. If your area has water use limits, check local requirements before choosing.
Plan for smart features and power
Smart toilets can include heated seats, automatic flush, night lights, warm water bidet wash and air drying. These features need a GFCI protected electrical outlet near the toilet, usually installed by an electrician, and the bidet function needs a water supply connection. Manual bidet attachments offer a simpler option with no electricity. Factor in matte black or matte grey finishes too, which are distinctive but show water spots more than glossy white.
Main product types
The category covers one-piece elongated toilets, smart one-piece toilets with heated seats, dual flush toilets, wall-hung toilets with manual bidet features, and replacement seats and parts. Brands include Blossom Kitchen and Bath, Woodbridge, ANZZI and ENVO.
