Rove Concepts Mikkel Bed

I really love this bed frame, especially the pillows that you can add in front of the headboard.

This bed looks and feels so luxurious. The wood frame pieces are HEAVY, it looks and feels like very sturdy, extremely high quality wood. The cushions also feel like they will be extremely durable and hold up really well. Even though the colour is light, the type of material seems like they will not stain or look dirty easily. This seems like a bed that will last us for many many years!

The wood is solid and heavy providing excellent support for the mattress. It was easy to put together with clear instructions. Product was delivered to our front door. Everything was packaged carefully so there was no damage at all.

Absolutely love the bed, low profile, comfortable to lounge in, love the back pillows which are at the perfect height for reading and watching movies. The issue is there is a design flaw. The veneer cracks in the corners. 3 of the corners are cracked. It’s a bummer to receive a product that is defective.

This mid century modern bed is sleek, stylish and solid. It is packed very well, so no fear with it getting damaged during shipping. The instructions are not super complicated and the design is pretty intuitive so putting it together should not be too difficult. It should be noted that while I was able to put this together by myself, it would be best done by 2 people as some of the parts are pretty heavy. I'd buy this again in a heartbeat.

It's fine, but damaged in shipping. I cant even imagine what a pain it would be to get it dealt with. Disappointed that we spent 2k to get a nicked piece. Also was disappointed in the Toronto store, from service to available items on display, what a let down. In the design district where we visited about a dozen stores it was the least impressive. The 4 stars is b/c it's a good thing I think we like the bed (its only been a few days) otherwise this 1st experience would have been a complete fail and I would be looking much more at a 1 or 2 star rating. Now we know... not sure we will buy more...

This bed looks beautiful, exactly like it does in pictures. The fact that the bed and headboard are low really opens up the room.Surprisingly easy to put together--I was able to assemble a king size by myself.

The quality of the bed frame is really nice. The finish and texture of the wood is very smooth and rid in color. The make is perfectly finished with nice curves.The backrest pillows are bulky to look, but very comfortable to sit and watch and relax.

Love the bed. The cushion headboard is very comfy to sit up against. Initially a bit tricky to slide in the mattress in as the cushion was brand new. Over time, it’s taken shape and easier to move the mattress to change the sheets.

Beautiful bed frame made of high quality materials. The only issue is that it's two inches too short for my king mattress. I have to squeeze the mattress into place, and I have to struggle to pick it up while changing the sheets. The frame should be redesigned to be a bit longer.

Happy with the product and shipping

We have had this bed frame for about 1 month and love it! The style is perfect for us; modern and minimal. The frame is very sturdy, no creaks or noises and no movement when getting in and out. We actually believe we are sleeping better because our sleep is less interrupted now. We are always happy with our Rove purchases; this is another one!

The Mikkel Bed is exactly what I was looking for - a low-profile but eye-catching bed. The cushion headboard is brilliant as it looks great but is also super comfortable when sitting in bed reading or watching TV.

The most perfect bed for our young teenager son. I have been looking for months for a bed that he would like and this is it. Low platform but rounded no bruise causing edges. The head pillows are exactly what he was looking for and it helps keep the wall behind clean. The covers can be removed and cleaned.

This bed is very supportive and comfortable. I love the plush, pillowed headboard! The independent slats also really do reduce movement. The only area where I could recommend improvement is the assembly instructions. The images showing how the hardware is meant to be used were very small and were difficult for us to follow. Adding some text or enlarging the images in the instructions would really help. Other than that, we have no other issues. We love our new bed!

The bed has good quality and elegant and modern look. It’s sturdy as well. Assembling the bed is not the easiest mostly because the materials are heavy. The instruction manual can’t be a little more clear as well. Perhaps zooming in on some details in the smaller areas. Overall I’m very happy with the bed.

Love it!! Its low and streamlined- takes up less visual space than our previous bed. Pillow/Headboard is super comfortable. The delivery and set up service was great and the bed got here much faster than expected!!

The bed is perfect for us: contemporary design and very solid. The only negative I have is the packaging due to the very large amount of non recyclable styrofoam.

I'm a bit shy when buying furniture online due to some previous unfavorable experiences but I could not be more happy with the quality of this bed. As soon as I took the first piece out of the box, I was extremely happy with the construction. This bed is solid and made very well. Everything fit together like it's supposed to and we didn't have to force anything. Overall I'm very impressed and will not hesitate to order from Rove Concepts again.

To my views, the bed is high quality and a design that works very well for a condo sized room. The wood veneer is well made, and assembly was reasonably straightforward and . There are some frame improvements that can be made and while it is early days overall this is a solid bed. One tweak I did was to pair this bed with the Hunter night stands, instead of the Mikkei units - and I am glad I did.I will say the bed ships well packaged but that means you will have lots of cardboard to recycle, and oh so much styrofoam...Rove PLEASE eliminate the styrofoam...this stuff is terrible.

Assembly was a difficult with the instructions provided (it was very faint and appeared to be a poor photocopy/print). The quality of the materials is above average however, not superior.

This bed frame was exactly what we were hoping for. It looks great in our space and the cushions on the backboard are perfect for reading in bed!

All pieces arrived in tact and little earlier than expected. We were impressed by the quality of the wood veneer and the hardware was top quality. The bed was easy to assemble. The packaging was mostly recyclable. It would be wonderful if Rove Concepts could fine a replacement for all the styrofoam required to get the products to the consumer. It isn't recyclable in our area.

Love our bed with our Asher nightstands and dresser. Perfect midcentury modern feel that we were going for. Great quality piece. Love the look of the wood and the pillow headboard.

Bed is very comfortable and sturdy. Took less than an hour to assemble. Looks great, no squeaking and very supportive. It's a low bed, so lower than more traditional bed frames. Also, gray velvet is shinier in real life than in the picture. The velvet fabric feels great, but has more of a sheen than I was anticipating. We are very happy.

Great quality, easy to put together

Love this bed. Quality is good. Took about an hour and a half to assemble. It is in a second bedroom so no one has slept in it yet. The Princess and the pea daughter is coming this weekend so I'm sure I will get lots of feedback. It will probably be mostly the mattress.

The bed is excellent and exactly as expected! A beautiful and quality piece of furniture, feels sturdy enough for the wear and tear of a full family life (within reason, of course!). Assembly was pretty straightforward - helped to have two sets of hands (e.g., for getting the mattress support frame in position), but not essential. The hard copy of assembly instructions that came with the bed was a tad hard to read, esp. the smaller details, due to print quality, but were able to locate instructions online on Rove's site and used those instead; there was one error in the later steps that we detected in terms of which screws meant to go where, but were able to figure it out by process of elimination and online instructions appear to have been updated since, so likely not a problem going forward. Overall, very pleased with the product and customer service. As a bonus, the bed arrived considerably earlier than the initial estimate, which was wonderful.

It is very sturdy and appears exactly as it looks online. One thing that made me respect it's sturdiness are the slats that go under the mattress. They are a steel-reinforced system of slats which was new to me... I am used to those pine slats that are held together by a strip of white fabric. My husband is a contractor and he assembled it in about 45 minutes but he has construction skills so hard to gauge whether others would find it easy/hard. The pillows for the headboard are nice and supportive, combined with your regular pillows, for reading in bed. I will say I have not been able to get the corners of those pillows to fill in - the filling will not go to the corners so they look a little deflated. It is a small detail but one that is worth mentioning for a higher-end bed. We picked the alesand fabric and it is soft & nice. I appreciate that the bed arrived in about a month during a major global shipping crisis. We have a mattress that is 12 deep and it is pretty substantial. I think the thinner your mattress, the better the bed will look, because you will be able to see the headboard pillows more. Overall we like the design and are happy that we bought it. I did email Rove customer service to mention the ABSOLUTLY GROSS amount of Styrofoam that the bed was packaged in. Like, imagine a large sub-zero refrigerator mass of styrofoam. I think of it floating around the ocean for the next 1,000 years and it makes me feel less good about the bed. Wish they could use an alternative material or figure out a better way to flat pack, like Ikea.

It is like sleeping in a cloud, so comfortable soft but supportive. I have lot of back problems and was a bit worried of the upper layer softness but it has been very supportive and no back issues.

First, I should say that the Mikkel Bed is sturdy, sleek, and easy to put together (though some of the instructions were impressionistic). I was drawn to the Mikkel bed because of the NYT Wirecutter review that advertised its plush headboard, and the height of the headboard/headboard pillows was the only thing that was a little different than I expected, based on product pictures online. Depending on the height/depth of your mattress, the height of the headboard could vary. As someone who was excited about the modern style and the idea of being able to sit up in bed and read comfortably, I was a little disappointed to find that the headboard hits at about my mid-back when sitting up. If you want a headboard where you can really sit up and feel supported, you may consider a different style. Still, it's a handsome bed.I also wanted to write a little about receiving the bed and customer service. I did have issues receiving the bed even though it was in stock when I ordered it and shipped (or was put on a truck) within about a week of my placing the order. Rove shipped using Pilot truck lines and they (Pilot) weren't very communicative (e.g. they never contacted me to set up a delivery appointment, I just had to watch and wait). They also lost track of one of the four boxes the bed came in and it took me over two weeks--beyond my approved, scheduled delivery appointment date--to get any answers at all. When I contacted Rove customer service to help, I was told it would take them a full seven days to just track the package and find out where that fourth box was--not to resolve the issue, just to trace the box. In this day and age, that timeframe was a little ridiculous. By that time, I was calling Pilot every day to ask if they had found the box. One day, I got someone new who checked the warehouse rather than just the computer and . . . the box was there! What a surprise. Shirley at Pilot is my hero, but it would have been nicer to have had better support both from Pilot and from Rove. Not only would my package have arrived more promptly, but it would have saved me a lot of grief during a stressful move. The cherry on top was that, while I was assembling the bed, I received a follow up from Rove customer service apologizing and saying that though it had been seven days since I asked for their help, they still hadn't heard back from the carrier about the trace on the box. But I am happy with the bed. It's a quality product with great style.

Beautifully designed and built bed. Love the headboard pillows, and the cases are good quality. We opted for the white glove delivery so they unboxed and assembled everything for us. Unfortunately we had a California king mattress so it didn’t fit quite right, but we’ll be changing over soon. Love the bed!

I love my new bed! The construction is solid and the wood is a beautiful rich texture. Sitting up against the padded headboard is a treat! The only thing I didn't like was that it was shipped with a ton of Styrofoam and other non-environmentally friendly packaging.

The bed frame is very nice. One little issue is that the non-adjustable supporting leg installed at the middle is too short to reach to the floor. It doesn’t support the slats. I’ll need to request for a replacement for this component.

The bed is nice and seems well built; the pictures are pretty accurate. However horrible delivery service (no shows, no communication whatsoever, multiple, multiple calls, emails, follows ups needed to even get a response), and subpar Rove support to resolve the issue. Once we got our bed, it was nice, but was not a great shopping experience.

Good communication on shipping and arrived quickly enough relative to competitors. Bed is solid and beautiful and assembly was easy. Goes well with my vintage mid-century nightstands. Overall it might be a little bit pricy for the materials but I imagine this will be my bed for at least a decade so I have no trouble justifying the cost, and am definitely happy with the purchase.

This bed is a solid piece of furniture! It is made very well. It does take a while to put together. The only issue is it is a little difficult making the bed because everything fits tightly. But that aside, it really looks nice and is very comfortable. The delivery people were on time and very communicative.

Price aside, this bed feels really well built. I was definitely skeptical upon purchase, I had no idea if it would be worth it. Rove does a great job with marketing their products, and after spending about a week with this bed, I can certainly say that it holds up. It looks amazingly modern, lightweight (compared to my old bed frame), doesn't make noise when you lay on it and doesn't take up too much space in my room. The only downside with my purchase was in the shipping which took over 2 months! Way too long for the price I paid for shipping. But again, the bed itself has been impeccable so far.

We love this bed. We spent a lot of time doing research, and first saw this bed recommended on wirecutter, but hesitated for a while. After much thought and pros and cons, we pulled the trigger. Assembly was more or less straightforward, and it's beautifully designed, feels very solid, and is very comfortable. We're keeping an eye on the pillow headboard, I imagine over time that will sag and look frumpy, but so far we're not disappointed.

We LOVE this bed now that it's all set up, but the shipping and set up left something to be desired. The bed took over a month to get here, the packaging was damaged, and the styrofoam used in the packing materials was that terrible stuff that disintegrates and gets everywhere. The instructions for set up were also confusing, with one step missing vital infomation. However, once we figured it out what we supposed to do, it was fairly easy.Again, now that it's all set up, we LOVE LOVE LOVE the bed. Being so low to the ground, it has transformed the room with much more light. And it is very sturdy, even for two heavier individuals. However, for the price of the shipping we expected a bit more.

Bed is comfortable!

So comfy! It was a long wait to get the bed (about 7 weeks). But once it arrived, it was great. It took 2 of us to set up, but putting it together was really straightforward and all the tools were included. It’s very sturdy, and I am very happy with it! I do wish that it was possible to order extra headboard pillow coverings though, in case we want to change things up in the future.

Just beautiful! The upholstery material on the pillows is lovely, the base is solid, and assembly was not as difficult as other reviewers have said (that is, if you have put together furniture before, it is rather straightforward).

The Mikkel bed looks great and it feels very solid. The fabric also seems high quality. Money well spent! The bed was easy to assemble but I would say you do need 2 people to do it safely. My only complaint was the packaging. While I am glad it was packed with great care so it wouldn't be damaged in transit there was just SO much foam, plastic and cardboard. I don't think there is even anything to be done about this but I thought I would mention it.

Love the bed frame - looks great and is very sturdy. The pillow headboard is very comfortable and great for sitting up in bed. Delivery was a bit of a nightmare with several delays including not even showing up the first time and taking two weeks to just reschedule.

Good bed but sorta hard to assemble, especially the parts that weren't threaded and required me to hold the nut in place while putting in a bolt.

Overall this is a good buy. It’s a solid, comfortable and stylish bed. I wouldn’t say it was easy to put together, but it wasn’t terrible. I do wish the instructions were a little more detailed, but my husband and I figured it out and we aren’t super handy. It took us about an hour and I definitely couldn’t do it alone because the pieces are super heavy (which is good because they seem durable and sturdy). My one complaint is that the wood color looks a bit lighter than it did online, and that the veneer portion on the headboard and sides ALMOST matches the solid wood portion on the legs, but it’s not exact. Maybe I’m being very picky, but for me it was a big purchase so I wish the wood color was perfect. This isn’t a big enough issue to make me wish I hadn’t bought the bed, though. We love that it’s sturdy, doesn’t squeak, and that you can remove the headboard cushion cover for cleaning if needed. The headboard is very comfortable to lean on for reading or watching TV in bed. I especially like that the edges at the foot of the bed are rounded so you don’t hit them with your shins.

I have no clue what Part 1, 2 and 3 of 3 relate to so I will repeat this review for all parts! The bed is great. Very solid, well made, nice design. Nice that the cushions are removable. Hard to assemble/tighten the side and end panels.

I am a really slender 118 lbs and I was able to put this bed together myself! Took a little elbow grease but totally worth it! . My husband and I are in love overall!!

Very nice quality and nice modern look I was looking for. Easy to assemble and well package. Only concern is we found a damage part when assembling it. Corner of left part of bed was chipped off. Working with customer service to get replacement. As far as quality, look and design, I would recommend to all of you if you are looking for a slick modern look.

This arrived today - 4 big boxes (HEAVY). The two guys who delivered were awesome and schlepped it up to our soon to be complete master bedroom area. It took me a little less than an hour to unpack and assemble it...super easy and everything lined up perfectly. I do a lot of woodworking myself and contemplated making a similar bed out of walnut. Even if I went with walnut plywood (elm veneer and mdf core as is the case here) and sent out the upholstery job there is no way I could match this price - What a deal. The finish is beautiful. I am thrilled and would buy another product from these folks in a heartbeat!! Wow! Thanks!!!

This arrived today - 4 big boxes (HEAVY). The two guys who delivered were awesome and schlepped it up to our soon to be complete master bedroom area. It took me a little less than an hour to unpack and assemble it...super easy and everything lined up perfectly. I do a lot of woodworking myself and contemplated making a similar bed out of walnut. This was for a client that loved everything modern. I loved looks of the bed and the assembly was pretty straight forward. Great price

Very nice quality and nice modern look I was looking for. Easy to assemble and well package. Only concern is we found a damage part when assembling it. Corner of left part of bed was chipped off. Working with customer service to get replacement. As far as quality, look and design, I would recommend to all of you if you are looking for a slick modern look.
