Note whether a rack is rated for standard 750 ml bottles, since magnums and Champagne bottles need deeper or wider positions.Pick a mounting styleWall mounted racks save floor space and suit hallways, kitchens and narrow cellars. They must be anchored into studs or masonry, since a full row of bottles is heavy: a 750 ml bottle weighs about 3 pounds. Freestanding and island racks need no wall and can be viewed from both sides, which makes them a strong choice for shops, tasting rooms and open plan dining areas.
