If you are weighing fire glass vs log set electric fireplace media, the choice comes down to style, how much flame you want to see, and how much upkeep you will tolerate. Fire glass reads modern and throws back a lot of light. A log set reads traditional and looks like a fireplace even when it is switched off. Pebbles, driftwood and ice style media sit in between. This guide covers what Amantii fireplaces include in the box, what the optional electric fireplace media kits cost on our site, and how to swap one look for another.
What electric fireplace media does
An electric fireplace projects LED flames onto a screen or panel behind a media tray. Whatever sits in that tray is what you see at the base of the fire. It is purely decorative: nothing burns, and Amantii’s manual warns never to burn wood or other materials in the unit. Media changes three things:
- Style: crushed glass and crystals look contemporary, logs look like a wood fire.
- Light: glass reflects the flame and ember lighting, logs mostly block it.
- Flame view: a low bed of glass leaves the whole flame visible, a stacked log set covers the lower part.
Many Amantii models also light the tray from above or below. The Symmetry Bespoke has ambient canopy lighting with 13 colors that Amantii says casts a glow over the decorative media, and the Symmetry Lumina has separate controls for the ember bed LEDs. Those effects show up most on glass.
What media comes with Amantii fireplaces
Included media varies by series, so check before you budget for extras. Based on our product pages and Amantii’s own product pages:
- Symmetry Bespoke and Symmetry Extra Tall Bespoke: a grate and glass media are included. Log sets are sold separately, and our listings note they are highly recommended. See the 50 inch Symmetry Bespoke.
- Symmetry Lumina: includes the DESIGN-MEDIA-OAK-12PCE-MD kit, which has oak logs and decorative glass.
- TruView Slim: comes with a 10 piece log set, charcoal grey and black fire glass, and vermiculite. See the 40 inch TruView Slim.

- Panorama Slim: includes clear and blue glass diamonds plus large glass nuggets. See the 50 inch Panorama Slim.

Fire glass and crystal media
Glass suits linear fireplaces in modern rooms and pairs well with colored flames and canopy lighting, because it reflects whatever color you set. Amantii sells its fire glass in 5 lb bags. Our listings say each bag covers roughly 1 sq. ft. of tray, so a long linear unit may need several bags if you want a deep bed.
- Black Small Bead Fire Glass, 5 lbs: $119.
- Reflective and frosted colors such as clear, champagne, charcoal and dark grey: $139 per 5 lb bag.
- 3 Colors of Decorative Fire Glass Media (Clear, Suntea and Harvest Moon): $179.
- Ice Media Pack: $279 for 3 large clear nuggets, 95 clear and 10 blue diamond pieces.
Dark glass gives a moodier look with less glare. Clear and reflective glass looks brighter and shows ember lighting more strongly.
Log set options
Logs are the choice if you want a traditional fireplace look, especially on a fireplace that is off much of the year. Amantii’s log kits on our site come with extra media, so you are not stuck with logs alone:
- 10 Piece Birch Log Set with Media Pack: $299, with birch style logs, black and gray fire glass, and embers. Listed for Symmetry Bespoke fireplaces.
- 10 Piece Oak Log Set with Media Pack: $299, designed for the Traditional Bespoke series.
- 15 Piece Driftwood Log Set with Media Pack: $789, listed for Traditional Bespoke, TruView XL Deep, TruView Deep XT, Panorama Xtra Tall, Symmetry XT Bespoke and Symmetry XT fireplaces.
- 15 Piece Birch and 14 Piece Rustic log sets: $789 each. The 15 piece birch kit adds black fire glass, 90 pebbles, rocks and 4 colors of embers.
- 16 Piece Split Log Set with Media Pack: $899.
Kits are matched to specific series and sizes, so confirm fit with the listing or call us before ordering.
Pebbles, driftwood and mixing media
You do not have to pick one. Amantii’s Media and Accessories page says there is no prescribed way to arrange logs and media, and its Symmetry Bespoke manual says to use any combination of fire glass media you like. One approach is a thin bed of dark glass, two or three logs set back from the front glass, and a few pebbles or embers in front. That keeps most of the flame visible while still reading as a wood fire.
How to swap electric fireplace media
The steps differ by model, so follow your manual. For the Symmetry Bespoke, Amantii’s installation manual describes this process:
- Turn the unit off, disconnect power and let it cool.
- Remove the screws holding the trim (the number varies by size) and take off the trim. Hold the front glass, as it may fall forward once the trim is off.
- Carefully lift out the front glass panel.
- Pour or arrange the media in the tray, then refit the glass and trim.
Lay a towel on the floor first and keep the old media in its bag so you can switch back for the season.
Cleaning and care
Amantii’s manual says to disconnect power before any cleaning and never to use aerosols or steam cleaners on or around the heater. Beyond that, a few practical habits help:
- Dust logs with a soft dry brush rather than wiping them.
- Glass media can be lifted out and rinsed in a colander, then dried fully before it goes back in the tray.
- Keep media inside the tray and away from the heater outlet.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use fire glass and logs together in an electric fireplace?
Yes. Amantii says arranging logs and media is up to you, and its log kits ship with glass, pebbles or embers for exactly that reason.
Does electric fireplace media affect heat output?
Neither our listings nor Amantii’s media page tie heat output to the media you choose. Keep media inside the tray and never let it block the heater outlet.
How much fire glass do I need?
Amantii’s 5 lb bags cover roughly 1 sq. ft. each, according to our listings. Measure your tray length and depth and divide by that figure for a rough count.
Which electric fireplace media looks most realistic?
It depends on your room. Log sets look most like a wood fire, especially when the unit is off. Glass looks less like a real fire but shows more flame and color.
Choosing your look
Pick glass for a modern room and full flame view, logs for a traditional look, or mix both. For sizing and installation, see our electric fireplace buying guide, our Amantii electric fireplace review and linear electric fireplace sizes. Orders of $999 or more ship free by freight, and smaller orders ship for a flat $200. Questions about which media kit fits your model? Call us at 866-777-2590, Monday to Friday, 9AM to 6PM PST.
