Outdoor Plus Fire Bowl Review: Cazo, Maya, Sedona

An Outdoor Plus fire bowl is a handmade, USA built gas fire bowl with a copper scupper that lets water spill over the edge, so most of the line is really a fire and water feature for pools and fountains. The core lineup is three shapes, Cazo (round and curved), Maya (square) and Sedona (round and tapered), each sold in GFRC concrete or hammered copper, plus matching water only bowls and a few large self contained fountains. This review is spec based, built from our listings and the maker’s published warranty. We have not tested these bowls.

Cazo vs Maya vs Sedona: shape, size and burner

Cazo

The GFRC Cazo comes in four sizes: 24 in (8 in burner, 45,000 BTU), 31 in and 36 in (12 in burner, 65,000 BTU) and a 48 in bowl with an 18 in burner rated 160,000 BTU. Heights run 9 to 16 in. The hammered copper Cazo tops out at 36 in and 65,000 BTU.

Maya

The Maya is the square option, about 10 to 12 in tall. The GFRC listing shows 24 in at 45,000 BTU and 30 and 36 in at 65,000 BTU. The copper Maya lists only 24 and 30 in, both shown at 45,000 BTU with an 8 in burner; the 30 in row repeats the 24 in figures, so confirm the burner with us.

Sedona

The Sedona has a tapered round shape. GFRC comes in 27 in (45,000 BTU) and 33 in (65,000 BTU, 18 in base). The copper Sedona lists one 27 in size at up to 45,000 BTU.

All three list a 7 to 10 gallon per minute spill. The Cazo 360 is different: water pours over the whole rim rather than one scupper, it lists 15 GPM and uses a 1 1/2 in water inlet instead of 3/4 in.

GFRC fire bowl vs hammered copper vs powder coat

Using the listed prices, here is the gap between finishes for the same model:

  • Cazo fire and water: GFRC $2,510, copper $3,258, a $748 difference.
  • Maya fire and water: GFRC $2,510, copper $2,586, only $76 apart.
  • Sedona fire and water: GFRC $2,506, copper $3,470, a $964 difference.
  • Water bowls: GFRC is the lowest priced finish in every shape, wood grain GFRC and powder coated metal sit in the middle, and hammered copper is the highest, about $2,056 to $2,286.

Since a single price may cover several sizes, treat these gaps as rough. A GFRC fire bowl also gives you more sizes in every shape, including the 33 in Sedona, 36 in Maya and 48 in Cazo, which have no copper version on our listings. None of the bowl listings give the bowl’s own weight, so ask us before planning a pillar or a lift. We cover GFRC hairline cracks, sealing and cleaning in our concrete fire pit guide.

The copper listings warn that copper turns a blue green color over time outdoors. The Outdoor Plus 2025 Product Warranty states that natural weathering of copper and corten steel products is not warranted, so choose copper only if you want that aged look.

What comes with an Outdoor Plus fire and water bowl

The Cazo, Maya and Sedona fire and water listings include the bowl, a stainless steel fire pan and burner (the Cazo and Maya pages specify 304 stainless), a gas line with a natural gas or propane orifice, a copper scupper with a 3/4 in water inlet, a mounting nipple or bracket, and lava rock.

Not included on these bowl pages: a pump, water plumbing or a gas supply line. You choose natural gas or propane when you order, since the orifice is fuel specific.

Ignition is match lit or the optional 12V Smart Weather electronic ignition. The listings say it is tested in rain, snow and winds up to 55 mph, relights automatically, can tie into pool controllers and runs on 12VAC, with 110V transformers available. The warranty PDF notes that an ignition system bought separately from a kit is not covered. For the general pros and cons of each, plus pool gas and water hookups, see our fire and water bowl guide. A licensed gas fitter, plumber or pool contractor, and your local code, have the final word on every connection.

The self contained Olympian, Atlas and Paradise Falls

If you have no pool to spill into, these units carry their own water:

  • Olympian 60 in square: a 30 in hammered copper bowl with four spillways on a marine grade powder coated stainless tank. Listed with a 24 hour pump, filter, four LED lights, 65,000 BTU, 45 to 60 GPM, 80 gallons of water and 110V power.
  • Olympian 86 in round: a 36 in smooth copper bowl on a GFRC tank with full rim spill, 65,000 to 125,000 BTU, match lit or electronic.
  • Atlas 84 in and 89 in: a powder coated basin with a lit acrylic globe ringed by flames, 65,000 to 125,000 BTU, 120 gallons of water, a pump and LEDs on 110V and a key valve that is installed separately. The listings require a licensed installer and show about a 4 to 5 week lead time.
  • Paradise Falls: a water only rain curtain with an integrated pump and Bluetooth LED lighting, 72 to 90 in tall. The listing says a forklift is needed to unload it.

Outdoor Plus warranty in brief

The Outdoor Plus 2025 Product Warranty lists 1 year on fire bowls, GFRC, powder coat and stainless steel pieces, a lifetime warranty on burner rings and bars, 5 years residential on stainless and aluminum pans, and 1 year residential on electronics, gas valves, self contained units and LED lighting. Electrodes and spark igniters, media and custom products are not warranted, and installation labor is excluded.
