Perfect fit. This is my second masterbuilt smoker. The duel fuel feature was perfect fit for my small deck. I can share the propane tank with my grill next to it.

Great simple smoker. I've used it for briskets, wings, pork butts, and ribs. Great and easy to use. Very affordable and versatile.

Has been a great little smoker. I have had this for a few years now and have been pretty satisfied with this product. I only use the propane with wood chunks, not the charcoal. It maintains good temperature. This was a great starter for getting into the world of smoking. Would definitely buy again.

Dual fuel. I have had me dual fuel smoker for some time now love the ease of use and the option of propane or charcoal.

Excellent. Bought as an upgrade from a smaller water smoker. First run turned amazing results. Smoked two chickens, rack of ribs, ham roast, and a chuck roast. So easy to use and can add as many chucks of wood as your want depending on your smoke taste.

Reliable Old Stalwart. I purchased this model about ten years ago and it's still going strong. I can't even estimate the total number of pounds of smoked goods I've pulled out of it. I've smoked pork shoulder, bacon, tri-tip, brisket, fish, chicken, turkey, and an array of vegetables. Fresh peaches were a singular treat too. I love it and have made many other folks happy with it as well.

Decent, not perfect. Had to seal the door to make it work well. Rusted through to the point of needing to be replaced in 2-3 years. Other than that, worked fairly well.

Well Built. Replaced a smoker that was 20 years old. Working great. Dual Fuel is the way to go.

Seasoned up and ready to roll. Got the Masterbuilt 30 inch Dual Fuel Propane and Charcoal Smoker built, seasoned and ready to roll. First burn went smooth and it held temp nice and steady which is always what you want to see right out the box. I like the flexibility of being able to run propane for easy heat control or load it up with charcoal when you want that traditional smoke flavor.
The build feels solid, the door seals up well and the layout inside gives you plenty of space to run multiple racks at once. During seasoning it responded quick to adjustments and burned clean which is a great sign for future cooks.

Great Product. We have had our smoker grill for over 10 years and we love it. We had to replace three parts of the grill and now we can use it. This grill has stand up to moving twice and still looks like new outside. I want to thank George Thorne from Masterbuild for helping me find one of your parts. Thank You Again. Now it is running again.

Well built. I bought the extra wide 40" smoker for fathers day 2012. I have lost count on how many times I've used this smoker. I use it for all kinds of meats even made my own bacon, my family loves the deer summer sausage I make and the Christmas ham is always the first to disappear. I have taken it to work and cooked for my coworkers, and like my family it did not disappoint with the results.

Fabulous Brisket Everytime. I’ve had this smoker for twelve years. I get two whole briskets about 35 lbs pound cut into flat and point cuts on four shelves. Add apple and pecan wood chips for about 5 hours. Then when the meat is at 155 degrees do a double wrap with parchment paper then a triple wrap of heavy duty foil. After about 8 more hours the meat is up to 203 degrees remove from the smoker and set in a cooler with hot bricks. The following day unwrap and enjoy tender and delicious brisket. I use KC dry rub over gravy master and inject beef broth as a prep.

Great smoker! I got this smoker as a gift 3 years ago and I have smoked all kinds of meat in it. Briskets, pork butts, chicken wings, salmon, jerky, you name it. It definitely takes some getting used to and as any smoker it’s not a turn it on and leave it deal. Temperature gauges in smokers are notoriously innacurate so get yourself a couple of good probes and smoke on! Over the years I’ve developed zero rust and there is zero peeling on the inside of the smoker. I do keep the bottom clean but I never touch the walls. I live in a dry climate so not sure how it would hold up in wetter places as the metal is kind of thin in some areas. Overall though, it’s a great product and I’ve had a lot of fun with it.

Lasting quality. I have an earlier version of this smoker that I was given as a gift about 5 years ago and I could not be happier with it. I have used it to smoke anything I can think of and then some. The smoker never fails to please.
★★★★★ grdsmoke November 5, 2025 · pa
dual fuel review. for the most part pretty happy with the smoker. i do like that it is dual fuel as i think the charcoal gives it a better flavor. you can start with charcoal and then if you have to smoke something for a longer period of time the propane is so handy. the only thing i dont like is that it is hard to control temperature with the propane.

Perfect backyard smoker. this is the perfect backyard smoker that produces great flavor and is easy to operate. I am on my second one of these with the first one lasting 8 years out in the open with minimal upkeep. I am pleased with the convenience of propane for the heat and adding chips of various flavors the possibilities are endless with what you can smoke in these.

Masterbuilt Pro. This is my 3rd smoker that I have used a lot. My 1st smoker was a charcoil smoker. I loved the taste of the meat cooked with charcoil but when you cook a turkey for 10 hours with charcoil you have to add charcoil all night long.
My 2nd smoker was masterbuilt electric smoker. It worked good during summer months but when it was cold outside the electric smoker could not keep hot enough to cook correctly. I used it for a long time before I went to the Masterbuilt pro. I love cooking on this smoker. It is easy to maintain the right heat at any time. I have been smoking turkeys. hams and love cooking whole chickens.

Poor temp gauge and temp control. Purchased this smoker 3-4 years ago and wish I had purchased something else. Very difficult to maintain a certain temp, especially anything 250 degrees and below . 225 is impossible to reach for certain meats. Temperature gauge is 20-30 degrees ofyso you never know what the true temp is . My advice, buy something else.

cheap, potentially harmful unit. I bought this smoker about 2 years ago. The other day I was preparing the smoker for use. I fired it up and realized after about 15 minutes the smoker was not heating up. I opened the bottom door and the burner was hanging below the smoker, burning away into the air! The entire bottom of the grill had rusted through and there was literally no base left.
If there had been leaves about, they could have caught fire.
MBuilt clearly states rust is not covered. There is a reason, they know they use inferior metals and know that w/in a couple of years the unit will rust out and be useless.
I would NOT recommend a MBuilt anything to anyone.
Additionally, their CS is non existent, and their parts search tool is useless. Bad trifecta for service.

DO NOT BUY. Got this smoker for Christmas and decided to give it a go for MDW. Well, I followed the seasoning instructions exactly as the manual stated and then smoked some trout at 200° for 1 hour. These pictures show what happened to the smoker after it’s FIRST run. Unreal… had to throw away over 4lbs of fish because that can’t be healthy to consume.

I was expecting something a little better quality. I bought this from Home Depot and while assembling there was a few issues with a piece missing for one leg, the holes for the racks are all misaligned and my racks are all at an angle, and finally the thermometer does not work. I’m pretty disappointed.
★★★★★ tangelo100 October 3, 2021 · Arizona
Save yourself the heartache and don't buy!!! We bought this smoker around a year ago and immediately started having issues with the thermometer. I tried emailing Masterbuilt and it took about 2 months for them to respond. By that time we thought it was ok because the thermometer started moving about 250 degrees. We have had issues with the thermometer consistently since we started using it. Now: last week we smoked some ribs and the thermometer would not go above 250 degrees the whole time. What we found afterwards is that the smoker got so hot that the box started falling apart and all of our racks are bent, see pictures. Apparently it was too hot in there but the thermometer said it was only 250 degrees. We don't feel safe using this anymore and are upset that we spent a lot of money on a product that obviously has issues. Save yourself the heartache and don't buy this product!!!

Smoker won't reach 200F. I purchased this back in March and had 4 good uses with no temperature issues.
I went to preheat my dual fuel (propane option) and temperature struggled to get to and manage 235F. After doing as I did the 4 previous times before with no issues , the smoker wouldn't even get to 180F.
Yes I tried the vent adjustment and all that. Almost seems like the burner is starving for fuel or regulator isn't working properly. I ended up putting 4 or 5 pieces of charcoal along with the lit propane to even manage 220F.
I am quite disappointed in the smoker now. Almost threw it off the deck , if not for the ribs inside and the fire hazard.
★★★★★ Murph July 19, 2021 · Guelph,Ontario
Poorly made. I bought this smoker 2 months ago. Only used 3 times with the heating at 225. After the last time using the paint on the inside all burned off and on the doors. Had to pry the doors open as they were completly stuck fr the paint. Would not recommend this smoker
★★★★★ Joe D June 26, 2021 · Oxford, PA
Fire. I've had this model less than two years, and have done less than 10 smokes. At the end of most recent smoke, the unit caught on fire at the point where the propane line connects to the smoker. Had I not purchased a fire]proof mat, my deck likely would have caught fire along with the house.

Awesome smoker at a budget! It was a Father’s Day gift back in 2018, first year was used and abused almost all weekends and even during the week. Drip Pan did nor survived and corroded quickly, charcoal pan survided another year but not much different than drip pan. Grills are sturdy enough and durable. If housing gets corrosion, you can always sand it and paint it using food grade BBQ high temp paints.
I use charcoal in a charcoal basket on top of the remainings of the original tray and ignite the charcoal using propane. After is set, turn off propane and continue on charcoal and wood pieces. Favorites are the ribs (any) with charcoal and hickory.
With rear vent almost closed (1/16th”) and only 1 lower vent open 3/4, temp remain very stable around 214F. 3-2 method on dry rubbed ribs and everyone will be anxious waiting!

Six Years On and Still Smokin'. No boring old neckties for me, my family bought this smoker for me several years ago and I have smoked well over a thousand pounds of food in it since. I have smoked pork shoulders (three at once a few times), brisket, tri-tip, salmon, trout, bacon, sausage, beef & venison jerky, whole chickens (four at once a few times, but you've got to spatchcock them), chicken wings, whole turkeys, turkey breast, pork roast, tenderloin, and prime rib (and man, that was amazing!). It has been a rock solid tool in our household and my wife has already said I could get something bigger and (her words here, not mine) better. But I told her that there's just no need. My old faithful Masterbuilt does the job every time. When your wife says, "you know? You need to smoke something this weekend.", you know it's a hit.

Almost burned down our house! Masterbuilt refuses to post this review as it doesn't meet "guidelines", which it doesn't violate anything in their terms of service. The only thing it does it open them up to legal action and bad publicity. This will get posted on social media since they don't want to address this defect.
We used the unit for 150 hours until it almost burned our house down. The unit has a design flaw in the chip tray which causes chips to catch fire. Even after cleaning and using the recommend chip amount, I went to check on my meat to find it fully engulfed. Best case it sets your chips on fire and you lose your chips, worse case you die in a house fire. DO NOT BUY!!!!! This is a known issue if you research online!
