Broil King Monarch™ 340 Gas Grill with 3 Stainless Steel Dual-Tube™

Bought the Monarch 390 through Lowes. Three attempts and Lowes still could not get it right, finally CS gave me refund of $150 because I kept one of the damaged grills. I have used it a couple times and it takes some practice to get use to the heat settings. This is my second Broil King, the first lasted several years, I'd say about 4-5 years, give or take a year. I highly recommend getting a cover to protect. I'll see how this one goes, it's always hard to judge by other personal reviews, it looks nice, and I'll try to protect my grill plates by using a cover.

POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! Purchased this grill through a work incentive program, worst decision I ever made. The grill screw holes wouldn't line up, threads were coated with paint so the screw heads stripped, and it was missing bags of parts necessary to put the grill together. Contacted the company and they wanted me to send it back. Send a grill back. After I unpacked it. Right. Totally missed the boat on customer service.

Broil King Monarch 390 (Best). 2nd Broil King BBQ first one was a Royal Model used 2 maybe 3 times a week here in Northern Ireland. Decided to go up a model this time round to get the Monarch 390 with Rotisserie. So glad I have as it's a joy to use The usual Broil King quality and value for money that in my opinion is the best in the market Thanks to Jamison's Gas (Lisburn) for their support and delivery

Horrible BBQ to build. This was one of the most difficult BBQ's to assemble due to the bad assembly manual, which had poor diagrams. I bought this model because I used them at a resort we go to and was very pleased with quality of this model, but when mine came I noticed it wasn't as sturdy and the hood was much lighter. It still cook well, but I'm disappointed with the quality.

BRAND NAME DOES NOT HOLD UP TO EXPECTATIONS. EXPECTED MORE FROM A BROIL KING 390. BURNERS FAR TOO UNEVEN OF HEAT AT SAME POSTIONS ON DIALS. UNIT CANNOT WORK IF A WIND OUT AS KEEPS GETTING FLAMES BLOWN OUT. IGNITOR NOT THE BEST AS HAVE TO LIFT GRILLS AND PLATE TO USE A LONG LIGHTER TO GET GOING OFF AND ON. WILL NEVER BUY THIS BRAND AGAIN.

Great product, good company. I'm replacing an older Monarch with a new one. After 10 years solid service, this bbq was great value. Storage issues caused a little premature aging, the new one will be more tenderly cared for. Love the product. This company gave me great service when I needed a replacement burner after 7 years and the whole BBQ always performed well.

Excellent High Quality Grill. Highly recommended if you need a smaller high quality grill. It is holding up well, also bought the Broil King cover from Lowe’s and it’s heavy and high quality too

Great Service - Temperature Guage. I purchased a Broil King Monarch 320 because a three burner unit is all we needed. I purchased the BBQ from Lowe's online and received it May 11, 2023. After Season Cast Iron Grids for an hour because my temperature gauge did not go over 200 Deg.C I suspected the temperature gauge. I used a hand held Infared measuring device and the indication was almost double the BBQ grill gauge. I contacted Broil King and explained the situation and with in days they shipped me a new gauge. This one reads in the ball park and I am a happy camper. Thank You Broil King for great service. Frank

Burners and related parts corrode quickly. Burner tubes, flav-r-waves, dividers and supporting brackets corroded less than a year after purchase. Replaced all of them at my cost and the replacements corrodes very quickly as well.

Best bbq I've ever owned. Bought this a year ago and I'm very impressed. Very good on propane and heats up very quickly. Most delicious steaks I 've ever eaten.

Nice size. Just this little gem a few times & was worried it would be too small or not hot enough. We just love it as the sides flip down & easy to use on a small deck space.

I take good care of my Broil King. I had my Broil King Monarch for some years and it still looks new on the outside, The only thing is I had to replace my cast iron grills twice. I'm not sure why that is and the ones I bought last year are already starting to rust. Need to replace my grease tray I hope I can find one. Otherwise it is amazing BBQ.

First Broil King. Happy with the quality and performance. Only negative thing I found so far is that with any wind it blows out the flame when on medium to low setting.

Love it. Bought this six months ago to replace my old grill and just love it.

Low quality for price. I've had this propane model for 3 yrs. Kept under cover out of weather. Also with BK cover. All stainless steel rusted within 2 months. Replaced grates 3 times with BK grates because of rust. So finally bucked up and bought stainless steel grates. Venturi tubes hole are now bigger in areas so flames are huge in different areas. Cooking is uneven. I would consider a different brand next time. My neighbor has BBQ thats starts with letter N. 2yrs older than mine and cooks perfect has all original parts.

Well Built. This was my 2nd Broil King BBQ and my 1st natural gas model. The only thing I'd say is that I should have bought the larger size with the 40,000 BTU because the Moarch 340 takes a while to heat up and disappointed about that.

Weak flame and turning off the grill. The problem arises especially when there are winds. Is there a possibility that the problem is caused by the large openings in the grill base as shown in the picture?

Fast heat up. Bought it a month ago, easy to operate and just the right size for our needs, love the four burner feature, great for getting a high temperature in no time.

Amazing BBQ. Easy to assembly. It heats up quickly and the grill marks seared into the steaks are awesome. Looks very professional when served.

Quality Never Goes Out of Style. The Monarch 390 is our third grill from Onward Manufacturing, we have never been disappointed with the materials, craftmanship, dependability or performance of the grills. With the rotisserie, side burner and reversible cast iron grates the cooking versatility of the 390 is exceptional ,especially in it's price class. During the last month we have grilled steaks, burgers, hot dogs, pork roast ( indirect) and rotisserie chicken on the grill all with outstand results. The only issue I have is the removal of a full grease pan and tray, sliding the unit out without spillage is challenging. Concluding, the 390 is a great grill, if properly maintained and kept covered you can expect many years of great grilling.

Good BBQ, bad part. I bought this BBQ a year ago and have really liked it. It gets up to high heat quickly and while likely not the most powerful in the line, it does the trick for someone like me who's a moderate barbecuer. After the first year there's a hole rusted in the bottom of the cookbox, which is a bit insane and makes me question the quality. It's covered under lifetime warranty but having to pay for the new part to be shipped, disassemble the entire thing, and reassemble it, is a task and cost I shouldn't be responsible for after one year of having it.

So far very happy. Have BBQ 2 months. perfect size for my 12 x12 condo balcony. Easy to assemble. Works great. Compact.

Great performance = great results! I purchased my Broil King Monarch recently and have been so impressed with the performance of this BBQ! I've been grilling all different kinds foods on it and they come out perfect every time. The build and quality is impressive and I love the versatility it offers with the fold down shelves and optional rotisserie add on. Setting it up was a breeze too. This is the perfect grill for smaller families and back yard get-togethers. Great value for your money.

Even cooking. I've had my broil king for a year now and it is the best bbq I've had. The whole grill surface cooks to the same temperature, great for cooking steaks! A lot less flair ups!

regret trying to support local. During the pandemic I’ve tried to support local but regret our bbq purchase. The assembly booklet was poor and the online support videos don’t match the book. The bbq feels cheap... tin and flimsy. There was a missing part. So have been two weeks now trying to connect with support. Two unanswered emails. Two unanswered phone calls... still can’t use the bbq... if I could return it I would

Love it after many years of use. I can't remember how long ago I bought the equivalent model and am finally looking to buy the same unit. The Favour Wave dispersion system helps to considerable reduce, but not eliminate flaming. It is better than other propane barbecues I have used in the past. The cover has not warpeed, even though I have had a few sessions where I forgot about it and the temperature went way up. The biggest knock is the cast iron grill. It rusts over time. I think I am on my third set. My unit has been reliable - and still is actually - but I am upgrading for use at home and taking the old one to the cottage where I expect years more use.

Good bbq, some parts may not last. Works well, and side burner is a handy addition but Broil King name on front corroded badly. The shelf bent.

Worst purchase in a while - terrible heat control. Was looking to upgrade my 15 year old, bargain grill that still work very well. What a mistake - from the difficult assembly to wildly inconsistent heat dispersion, I regret buying this hunk of garbage every time I am forced to use it. If I could afford to replace it, it would be out for garbage collection immediately. Requires CONSTANT attention to avoid burnt or raw food, constantly having to move things around. Look elsewhere if considering this piece of trash.

Great features, but......... I purchased this grill in August, or should say that I ordered it in June and got it in August, which was just fine, but when I went to use it a few days ago, the black paint was coming off in sheets in the back of the grill. This should not be happening? Was it something to do with quality control? People rushing too quickly to get the product in the mail? Hindsight, I would have gotten an all stainless steel one. We have had 2 Ducane grills since 1994 and NEVER have had a problem. I also purchased a Broil King higher end cover and we have always kept that on it. My advice to the consumer, "Buy only stainless steel".

Easy gourmet grill. I am only remotely interested in cooking so using a grill is a new hobby for me. This 3 burner grill is just right for a single person who entertains a few guests from time-to-time. What I really love are the recipes and support videos that come with the barbecue. I have done both direct and indirect grilling and everything comes out perfect! It's easy to keep clean, heats up fairly quickly and looks great on my deck.

Great Value. We’ve only had our BBQ for a short time, but so far so good! Would have preferred stainless grills, but we are enjoying the flavour from cast iron grilling. Our first Rotisserie chicken was awesome, we don’t have the rear burner, but was able to use the far right burner with center and left turned off for a great result. Overall we’re very happy with the unit, we were replacing a 15yr old Weber, that’s a high bar to reach.

Side burner works great. Why is there popping soun. I purchased this item about 3 weeks ago So far very pleased . The only question I have is there I a poping sound. This has been since first use. Could you please let me know if this is a problem .

Not worth the price. I was impressed by the reviews on this grill so I special ordered on through Lowes. The box look fine, no damage. Breaking down the contents of the box, a side piece was damaged. I was able to straighten it out a little bit but it was so flimsy, I almost damaged it more. Upon completion of assembly, the grill is crooked. Not happy. I use it regularly and it seems to take a while to warm up. It cooks fine. I emailed BroilKing about the damage and crookedness and my response 3 weeks later was to file a warranty claim. I should have just returned it right then and there. It doesn't feel, cook, and look like a $600 grill. Matt K

Poor heat consistency. Grill takes a long time to heat up and doesn’t have enough power to grill with the lid open. Disappointed for such an expensive grill.

Works well. I bought this grill a month ago and I have used it several times so far. It works just fine. I chose this model because it has a one piece aluminum lid and a one piece aluminum cook box. I hope that the simplicity of the design and the durability of aluminum will give this grill a long life. This is the ugliest grill I have ever seen so I certainly didn't buy it for the looks. Hopefully I'll be writing another positive review in 20 years.

Brilliant bbq, as usual! This is my 5th Broil King in the last 25 years. Even when I did not cover it through Winters, they would not quit. Now that I do, I look forward to several years of great, even no flare up cooking. Simply put, there is no burner system quite like BK. I previously owned the Signed models, and even though the cooking surface is smaller, still plenty of room to cook multiple meals at a time. What impresses me most is the even heating and the results of cooking chicken from raw on low heat, with no flare ups.

Terrible Product. This barbecue has turned out to be a waste of money. I am constantly having to disconnect the regulator to get it to reset. It takes 30 minutes to get this barbecue to heat up to 400 F. The cooking is uneven, there is barely a flame on any burner and I just wouldn't buy this product ever again.What a total waste of my money

Very disappointed. I bought this grill abut 3 months ago and what disappointment it is!!! ZERO heat consistency, it cools down so quickly that meat is sticking to grade constantly, the regulator seems to have to be disconnected and reconnected often as propane will not flow adequately. It gets 35-45 min. to reach 500 f point!!! from the first lighting, the grill emits a massive plastic smell. Even after 3 hours of heating and burning out at over 300 degrees. the penetrating stench is still there. I don't recommend this brand to anyone!!! Stay away!

Superb rotisserie. I bought this 6 weeks ago. The bbq itself is very good but the rotisserie is excellent. Every joint cooked has been tender and beautifully cooked. Only thing that spoils it is magnetic door catch doesn’t work!

Monarch 390. Great BBQ but yet to justify the cost. Construction of the bbq was not bad (not the easiest I think but also it offers more than a normal bbq). Why the required accessories are not available from BK directly and having the possibility for worldwide shipping?

Very disappointed. ZERO heat consistency. Rather, the entire cooking surface is a series of varying hot and cool spots. Bought this as an "upgrade" and treat to myself after convincing myself I needed a new grill after the last one's 15th birthday. What a mistake!!! Poor assembly instructions. Short a couple screws. Propane door never stays within its hinge slot, door falls out ever time the grill moves. Big and expensive mistake making this purchase and now I am stuck with it for years. STAY AWAY FROM THIS MODEL!!!

Cast iron grills rust. I do not recommend the broil king monarch to anyone, I used mine for only one summer and always cleaned and oiled my grills grates, they r so full of rust and falling apart I cannot use it until I buy new grilling grates, which I shouldn’t have to do because this grill cost a lot of money already, I used the automatic starter only three times and then it quit so I had to remove the grate before I could light and that alone made me not want to barbecue. I also covered my barbecue when cooled off. It’s supposed to have a lifetime warranty but when I emailed the company I got no reply, do not recommend and will never buy again

Very nice so far. I bought this grill mostly because its NOT made in china. But its a very nice grill and meets our needs size wise. Have only used it once so far but I can tell its going to be a good one for the long term. My only complaint is the assy instructions are terrible. No call outs on hardware lengths and the instructions are pretty basic, this is one area this company can and should do better. The parts had several dents and bent corners which were relatively easy to straighten out. The dents are not visable after assembly.

Ideal temperature and confidence. I like to bbq 3+ times a week, year round, from -40c to +40c and my Monarch is really up to the challenge. Direct heat or indirect or rotisserie, all with excellent results!

cast iron cooking grids rust. I have had this grill for a few years and the cooking surface has started to rust and come off on my food. I upgraded to the stainless cooking grids for a couple hunderd dollars.

BEST BBQ I PURCHASED SO FAR. I bought this BBQ about a year ago. It was my 4th or 5th Broil King. All the previous ones where a bit bigger, but we only needed a smaller one. We converted to Natural Gas a few years ago. So nice not to have to contend with propane tanks. Anyway, this has been a great BBQ. So nice that the flicker ignites the gas EVERYTIME.

Good barbecue. We bought the barbecue last winter as a replacement for a larger unit that we no longer needed. We had to replace the igniter as it didn’t work all the time, the dealer gave us a warranty replacement one. Other than that, it works great, very satisfied with the unit.

Great Quality. Bought one last summer for my daughter and son in law and liked it so much that when our BBQ died this summer we went and Bought the same as we had given our kids.

Great Grill. I bought this bbq 3 years ago now. Its been an amazing. Gets hot fast holds heat a long time and cooks very evenly. The electric ignitor has failed recently but other than that its been awesome and i would definitely buy another one

LOOKS GREAT AND WORKS EVERTIME. I purchased my current bbq about 2 years ago. I had a Regal before that, for about 15 years. It was still working great, but didn't need as much cooking area so we sold it to a fellow who was very happy to get it. The Monarch 320 starts every time I push the electric start, which is wonderful.

Love the rotisserie feature! I have had this for three years and it has renewed my love for barbecuing. I like the fact that I don't have to worry about any flare-ups as the heat is applied from the back. I also like the fact that I can put a pan underneath it to catch the drippings from the roast and it keeps the barbecue cleaner. Also I love the fact that I can put a pan with various liquids and herbs so the meat is more tender and flavorful. I have not used the side burner at all, but in case of a power failure, I would definite make use of this feature.

Long lasting. I bought one 6 years ago and it still works great today.so when we decided we needed one for our cottage we were quick to purchase another one the same,love them both

well worth the money. this bbq has great assets. the grills are fantastic, the rotisserie works great. the grills are reversible for grilling steak or chicken. one tank lasts quite awhile while cooking. i use this bbq weekly.

Love this bbq. This is our 2nd Broil King. The Monarch 340 is great bang for the buck. The burgers, salmon, chicken and potatoes turn out great. The side burner is also a great addition. We are extremely happy with the unit. Recommend a cover for protection.

Rusted out within 2 years. Worked fine for the first 2 seasons, but most of the internal parts of the cookbox were completely rusted by 23 months of ownership. Needed grills, plates, drip trays, burners, and a lid (paint flaked off of it). This unit was stored under a covered porch and never saw direct weather in it's life. Broil King was good about replacing individual parts for me, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to change burners when the originals are seized into the cook box. I was told to drill out the fasteners, but I'm not sure that's feasible.

Just Right. I have used this grill about a dozen times and am very pleased,I heats fine and all the juices stays inside with no leakage out the front, as my old one did.I liked the design of the burners, but only time will tell on their longevity. So far Great

great grill. Excellent grilling, sears meats very good. Would like to see a few more BTU's for even quicker searing.

Just love it. Have owned this grill for two seasons now and I find it easier to.use than my much more expesnive grill that we use a home. The cast grills are great as is the very functional side burner. Side burner allows me to boil corn on the cob without heating up our summer place.

Great value in this grill! I bought this barbecue 6 years ago. Every year I clean it up inside and outside. My last Broil King Barbecue lasted more than 10 years. Now, I am looking to buy a Broil King for my adult children.

Great BBQ a complete pain to assemble. I purchased this yesterday, as it looked great in the shop. After unpacking the box and sorting all the various parts out I started to put it together. the instructions are pretty clear, but you have no real way of knowing which are the correct screws to use, putting the part number next to the diagram would have been very helpful. The first side went together very easily, but when I tried to put the other side on, the holes didn't line up so the screw wouldn't go in straight. after 20 minutes of trying I gave up and used a nut and bolt. I then had the same problem when putting the grill in, although after a lot of effort I did manage to get the screws in. Once it was together it is a great BBQ, very easy to use and the food tasted great. I'm sure the BBQ will last a long time as once it's assembled it seems to be a good quality product, it's just a shame its let down in the assembly process.

Great grilling poor finish. We’ve had ours nearly two years. We bought it as we were recommended to buy Canadian. Great first impressions and good cooks fantastically well. Beer can chicken especially. Done in just over an hour. Delicious. After 6 months or so, during cleaning I noticed the paint on the outside coming off. It just got worse as time went on. We contacted our local garden centre where we bought it to complain. They got in touch with Broil King and true to their word, a whole new carcass was delivered along with a new thermostat. Poor workmanship but great service. We now have a rotisserie and prawn cooker to add to the great cover. The insides clean really easily. Everything comes apart for cleaning. Looking forward to breaking it out this summer.

Usual Broil King High Quality. I replaced an 18 year old Broil King Sovereign with the Monarch 340. The new BBQ is doing what I want it to do and is the usual Broil King high quality. I baste a lot of things with tomato sauce when they are on the upper rack and I find excess sauce drips off and ends up on my deck. Is there a way to put a lip or spill catcher of some sort to eliminate this problem? It would be a lot easier to clean a spill catcher than my wooden deck.

Quality from unboxing to cooking steaks! Knowing I needed a replacement grill, I began shopping 6 months in advance. When I saw the Monarch 320 I was impressed that it had the features I had been looking for but could not find in any other grill. I always hesitate when starting an assembly of a product because the instructions are so poor. That was not the case! The instructions were detailed, clear and easy to follow. In fact, the design of the grill aided the assembly and I was done in less than half the time I expected. The meat, and a few vegetables, that I have cooked have turned out excellent. The grill is a joy to use and cooks evenly every time. When I wear this grill out, I will buy another one for sure.

Reasonable Value...Nothing Exceptional! It works fine...the BBQ starts....cooks and shuts off as it should.

Worst ever barbeque. Hood rusted,supports for burners rusted away, center burner doesnt work, ignition doesnt work. Flare ups from fat dropping onto the flavour bars. No support from the warrantor,advises its over 2 years old.

Wearing out after 14 years. We bought this BBQ 14 years ago and absolutely love it, we cook everything on it from pizza to our Christmas Turkeys. After 14 years it is finally wearing out and I am looking at this website because I'm going to buy another. Fantastic BBQ.

Excellent Service. I purchased my Monarch 390 in May, 2017. The bbq is everything and more than i expected! This is not so much a review of the product, I have done one already for it, this is an endorsement of Broil King. A couple weeks ago i was doing a brisket, when I noticed that, according to temperature gauge, my temperature had dropped. Upon closer inspection i found that it was not the case. What had happened was the temperature gauge had broken. I sent an email to Broil King, and received an automated reply thanking me for my email but that because it was during the weekend my concern would not be dealt with until business hours on Monday. Thursday morning a courier showed up at my door, with a parcel from Broil King containing a new temperature gauge! No endless emails, just prompt and exemplary attention to my problem! Broil King went above and beyond with their committment in backing their product! I most certainly recommend purchasing from they company!

I would buy it again. After 10 months of intense use, I am very satisfied with this gas grill. The product is solid, powerful (for direct grilling) and easy to use to set/keep the desired temperature (mainly for low&slow and/or indirect grilling). I needed some time to fine tune my cooking style with this gas grill, being not a pit master :-) however it's part of the fun. Easy to clean but honestly I thought it was easier before buying it, you need to take care of it to get perfect results. 10 Kg GPL bottle fits in the dedicated compartment. I easily make regular big bbq's for 8/10 people. Over 10 people I would need bigger cook surface, but no doubt I would buy a Broil King gas grill.
