Charcoal Basket Classic Joe II. Just purchased this, very well made. Thicker gage rod than expected. Will last the life of the grill.

Loses shine. After one use, the shiny chrome look is gone and it is now a rusty, old looking charcoal basket.

charcoal basket. bought this product for my new kamado joe classic 1. terrible purchase. as others have already stated its a waste of money. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. grill is amazing but there was an obvious design flaw here and for 150$ and from them stating tmits made to fit any and all models but connected joes it absurd.

Must Have Acessory. The basket makes it very easy to put the lump in the smoker.

Fire Flow Basket. Great accessory to have for the KJ, can start the charcoal quickly and attain pizza level temperatures. It provides the best heat and charcoal flames for searing as well. The increase in air flow over the charcoal make all the difference. With the KJ's excellent air flow control you can still cook low and slow with he charcoal basket.

Great before it fell apart. Great accessory while it lasted, but it falls apart. You only get a 2yr warranty buying this as an accessory (despite KJ offering 5yrs if it's bought with a new grill). This is too expensive for the frequency it'll need replacing.

An Unhappy Kamado Joe Classic II Basket Buyer. At first glance the charcoal basket looks fantastic! Well built with thick, beefy stainless steel rods. Looks so much better than the aftermarket ones you see on Amazon for a third of the price. The problem is it can not be used with the ceramic heat deflectors and drip/water pan without modification to the basket. Most of my cooks I need both. I ended up cutting the four hooks on the top of the basket to make it work. NOW, it's a pain in the rear end to get the basket in and out. If I had known then what I know now I would not have bought this. It seems like this could easily be fixed by KJ with a little bit of re-engineering.

Great for cleanup. I bought this online and it makes for a very easy cleanup and provides better airflow. However, the hooks get in the way on the Classic 1 and do not allow you to put the heat deflectors on the lowest tier of the divide and conquer. You have to balance it on the hooks of the basket or use the x accessory. I took an angle grinder and cut them off, now my heat deflectors can go on the bottom tier again.

Long ship.time. My order took a long time to get to my house. I just got the last item on 7/17, and I ordered it on June the 2nd.

Needs a Redo. Could be engineered a little better. However I was able to get everything centered including the firebox and it work fine. More headache than needed but it’ll work.

Not worth the cost. Pointless and expensive for what they charge for this item.

Well made heavy duty, thought it would improve efficiency of my Classic #1. Definitely would make clean out easier. I haven’t used it yet for 4 reasons. One is reported increased charcoal consumption. Two a lot of smaller charcoal pieces that are still productive will end up in the clean out tray (maybe the reason for increased consumption). Three, it works really well with the disc that comes in it. Four I prefer the fit of the original ash floor plate better. I doubt I will ever use it, but you never know.

Tiskity A Baskity. Nicely made basket so I can evenly split my lump charcoal and wood chips for smoking.

Boom! Basket is great. Love it! Definitely increased the versatility of Big Joe. This basket makes it possible to use the whole bottom or less than half depending on how much you’re cooking. Cleanup is easy, just let Joe cool down, remove the basket & discard the ashes. Voila!

Poor design for the classic. I bought this for my classic and I’m not impressed. The basket sits too high to use the divide plates when cooking indirect. The basket needs to be removed and the cast iron grate at the bottom replaced to cook indirect. Also, grates and inner ring have to be removed to shake the coals in basket. Waste of money!!

Big Joe Basket. A must have. A significant upgrade from the OEM setup. It comes with a divider which enhances your ability for smaller fires and more delicate cooks.

Need refund on purchase. My wife bought this for my birthday but didn’t know it would not fit my Vision-S grill I need to return it for full refund. Every time I call your Customer Service line it is always busy. It was never used.

bad return policy. sent the order after i told them the ikamand credit didnt go through. and cost me $138 to send back

Wrong basket. My wife bought me the basket for my Vision S-Series grill, not knowing the basket would not fit, I need to return it for refund. Can you please contact me, so I can get a return label to ship it back.

Charcoal Basket & the Ceramic Reflectors. The basket is nice but if I use it, I cannot use my ceramic reflectors. Seems there was an oversight here in design. Easy answer was to redesigning your ceramic reflectors to accomodate this basket augmentation.

The Kamado Joe Big Joe is a Big Hit!! I had a Komatsu style grille before and it was Ok, but the Kamado Joe is next-level! It’s like comparing a Toyota to a Lexus, they are both excellent cars but the fit and finish and touches of the Lexus make it stand out and so it is with these grilles. The online buying experience was also excellent with frequent updates as to the status of the order and setup of the delivery. This is a HUGE heavy grille so make sure you have help to place it! Zero regrets and I’m not sure what else I would put on a wish-list.

Still figuring it out. Bought BJ in late April or early May. I've cooked on it at lest once per week. Some weeks several cooks. I'm having difficulty keeping the Temps in range with the basket but it's a learning curve. I'm getting a feel for it the more I cook.

Makes cleaning my grill and saving useable so easy. Amazing high quality and function! Beautiful heavy chrome with openings to save charcoal big enough to reuse. Lift it out to clean the grill and no picking through or waste.

Great basket. There is so much airflow to the charcoal it unbelievable. Just pick it up a little and shake. All the ash and very small pieces fall apart to the ash pan. Definitely worth the cost.

Pathetic. Cannot believe an accessory actually made by KJ, to suit their own brand KJ’s, DOES NOT FIT straight out of the packet. Deflectors do not sit well at all in the D&C, the hooks on the basket get in the way of everything… and the response from KJ themselves is to watch some YouTube videos to see how other people have negated this blatant design flaw. Ridiculous.

Great accessory but it rusted very quickly. One of those "must have" accessories if I do say so myself. Helps with loading charcoal, increased airflow, and helping with reuse of charcoal that is not fully consumed in a cook. My only issue with it, is that after only about a year of cooking the entire basket is a rusted mess. I was expecting stainless steel to be a bit more resilient. Makes me wonder about longevity. Perhaps this corrosion is normal given the high temps in the Kamado.

Design Issue - Deflector Plates Don’t Fit. I’m going to add my voice to others who have give 1 star reviews. I have a Kamado Joe Classic 2. When the charcoal basket is in place, the deflector shields do not fit in the bottom position. The hooks on the top of the basket are in the way. Your response to them totally misses the point. The accessory rack isn’t even used in the bottom position. There are no YouTube videos showing how to place the deflector shields in the bottom position when using the charcoal basket. My suggestion to you is put the charcoal basket and the divide and conquer rack in a Kamado Joe Classic 2 and then try to insert the deflector plates in the bottom position. The issue should be obvious.

Built like a TANK. Great charcoal basket with divider and constructed to work flawlessly with the standard equipped Classic II. And it's built like a TANK. You will never need to replace it as long as you live.

Do research before buying basket for Classic I. Basket does not allow the use of the heat shields in the designed lower position on the Classic 1. The website says it is compatible, but after delivery, the basket box clearly states it’s intended for Classic II. Kamado Joe representative would not help me with return shipping cost. I regret the purchase.

Perfect solution. Nice stainless steel construction, allows for easy cleaning of the burn chamber. The divider makes it simple for offset heating.

KJ Charcoal Basket. The Product is great. It helps save on charcoal. The purchase process was unsatisfactory. I loooked on Amazon AFTER I bought the item from KJ. It was $20 cheaper on Amazon. I contacted KJ and asked if they would price match. They said no. The moral. Do your 'shopping' and 'looking' BEFORE you make your purchase.

Worth the $$. Much better than the cast iron plate in the classic II. Extremely easy to just grab the divide and conquer rack and shake out the ash. 10/10 would buy again.

Multiple Benefits with basket. Makes clean up easy, speeds up start time for getting to grill temp. The divider also makes efficient use of charcoal for quick cooking foods like burgers.

I wish I hadn't purchased this. The KBJ charcoal basket doesn't fit into the Kamado Joe Classic preventing the diffuser plates from sitting flat and snugly on top of it due to the hooks it comes with. The hooks are meant to hang off the flexible cooking rack to enable the ash basket to be easily lifted out with it, however with the charcoal basket resting on the bottom of the ceramic firebox the hooks of the basket then stick out above where they should and don't hang on the flexible cooking rack as they should. The hooks sticking above and prevent the diffuser plates from sitting flat.

Quality. The basket is made very well. Love the thicker bottom tubes. Divider is useful at times. Only reason it's not 5 stars is the price...I purchased on a special!

Partitioned charcoaled basket Review. Great build quality that feels like it will last. I especially like the partitioning that allows you to put lump charcoal in one half of the basket. The basket is designed to lift with the entire grate assembly. This appear convenient when cleaning the grill. However, it can present a challenge if you need to add more lump charcoal in some very long cooks.

Must Have Accessory. Great addition to my Kamado Joe! So much easier to clean and better airflow. This is a must have addition.

Not for joe classic series 1. Works great for grilling and offset grilling. Not good for smoking with series 1 joe. Deflector plates can not go on bottom position.

Make cleanup EZ. Love this thing. It makes it easy to save un-used lumps and set aside while cleaning out the used ashes. Also love the divider when doing quick sear on 1/2 the grill (saves charcoal)

Expensive but works. More airflow for higher temps, uses more charcoal. Seems to burn more charcoal than before obviously has to do with the higher temps. Find it harder to clean out now than before, ash does not fall though as easily.

Expensive but worth every penny. The basket is a big improvement in air flow, makes for hotter cooks with less charcoal. Also easier clean-up.

Pays for it's self... Very efficient, probably pays for itself due to a decrease in wasted charcoal. I do wish I could lift it out without having to remove other parts, but still a very solid product. I would highly recommend.

Needs a handle, but would buy again. Wish it had a handle to make picking it up and shaking out the ash easier.

Kamado Joe BJ Ash Basket. Works well with my Big Joe, makes ash removal much easier.

Somewhat helpful, but pricey. I have a Classic two and it sits a little too high, which doesn't allow you to properly seat the ceramic deflectors. Also, the grate spacing is a little wide so unless you have big chunks left, you're still having to clean out the little pieces that don't burn (which are the ones that clog the grate holes below it. It is made of high quality stainless and very sturdy and is convenient and works well when loading your big chunk charcoal or when removing big chunks after burning.

Kamado Joe Charcoal Basket. Seems to be off high quality, it just doesn't fit right in my Classic Joe, when inserted in my Classic Joe the heat deflectors don't sit correctly now with the basket installed, the ears on top the basket get in the way, for me to use i will need to break out the grinder

Great Charcoal Basket, don't buy from KJ. This is an excellent basket that will last forever and probably should have come with my Classic II to start with, but it took around a month between the time I ordered and the package arriving (in spite of the bogus tracking info I was provided). I should have gone to a third party that has a better handle on order fulfillment.

Charcoal basket. My original cast iron charcoal grate had cracked and this basket was a perfect replacement. It makes cleanup after each cook a breeze and helps airflow around the charcoal.

Stainless steel charcoal basket. I really like my charcoal basket. It makes it easier to clean out ashes and save unused coals in between grilling activities. This was my number one choice for an accessory

Stainless steel charcoal basket. It’s so much better than just piling up charcoal, and being able to separate charcoal from the residue.

Nice enhancement. Holds the charcoal up a bit and you can remove the iron grate. So now the grill is easier to start due to better air flow. And now, much easier to clean the ash and left over charcoal.

A must have, with 1 little problem. the basket makes everything easier, lighting a fire, hotter fire, better air flow, easier clean up, and overall better grilling experience. The 1 drawback is the basket doesn't fix the best in my my Big Joe classic 1, and like all Kamado products, it is a bit pricey.

Pass on this one. Not all that happy with this purchase. With this addition my heat deflectors do not sit flat anymore. Basket gets in the way. I do get more air flow which is one of the reasons I wanted this but I think I use more fuel too because of it. Expensive add on that’s not needed.

High marks for the Basket - a Slam Dunk! This is a very well constructed, well made addition to the marvelous K-Joe product line. It has made easy work of clean up between both short and long cooks. It also seems to have increased the life of the preserved coals.

Great, but simple instructions would be helpful. Very nice addition and upgrade to my Classic II. Call it a lack of common sense, but some minor instructions would have been helpful to realize it best to remove the original metal grate and that a simple twist of the basket places it outside of, or directly under the grill rack for removal. It took reading other reviews to come to this realization (duh). Highly recommend the product.

Easy to fix your next Fire. Works great, so much easier to clean up used charcoal. A couple shakes all the dust falls to the bottom and lift out the leftover charcoal. This is a must have add on.

Useful Kamafo Joe accessory. Practical accessory for keeping your lump charcoal in firebox, helps separate the charcoal from ash. Basket divider is very handy for indirect cooking or smaller cooks. Item constrution material is exellent.

The charcoal basket is a great addition for improving airflow without ash blocking up the grate so it would get 5 stars, but one gripe is that the KBJ charcoal basket doesn't fit into the KBJ II so that the diffuser plates can then sit flat and snugly on top of it due to the hooks it comes with. The hooks aim to hang off the flexible cooking rack to enable the ash basket to be easily lifted out with it, however with the charcoal basket resting on the bottom of the ceramic firebox the hooks of the basket then stick out above where they should. The hooks sticking out stop the diffuser plates sitting flat. I have seen people then laying the diffuser plates on top of the KJ accessory rack but that's not what its meant for nor what I want as I need that for a drip tray to sit above the diffuser and below the grill rack. Reading other review threads it seems people saw off the hooks or mod them somehow. I accept it may then be harder/messier to get it out, and I'm OK with that and going to see what I can do to mod first (bend the hooks to be lower) before hacksaw as last resort. OK, no chance of blending the hooks, so hacksawed them off and fits perfectly now. Note: this is likely also so for the KBJ I as well as KBJ II (which I have) - it may not be the case for the KBJ III which appears to be deeper (not sure tho’).

The YouTube World. The instructions on how to install and the proper way to empty the basket are weak. But then again we live in the world of YouTube!

Great charcoal basket. The basket is surprisingly heavy and very well made.

Great upgrade! Gotta tell you, this thing is awesome. I have a 7yr old Joe, and originally just wanted new side tables (also nice upgrades). But this basket is a game changer. It definitely helps regulate airflow by keeping the coals off the air holes. The best is the next cook. Just lift it up and sift out all the ash. Warning: it comes with a coal divider (haven’t used) so now I’ll probably buy some half moon plates for better zone management.

Great features with flexibility! I purchased this a little over a month ago and I am so happy I did! Not only does it make clean up easier because all I need to do is lift the entire assembly up and out but the divider makes indirect cooking - especially with the JoeTisserie - a breeze. It’s constructed solidly and is a welcome addition to my KJ Classic II. Love it!!!
