Shoddy build quality. I bought this a couple months ago and I am deeply disappointed with the build quality, the assembly requires taking off stuff already screwed in and then putting the same screws back on through something new and the screws are all crusty and moldy, pieces don't fit right where like 2 screw holes match-up and a third doesn't because the metal is misshapen, I don't think it's bent I think it's straight up cut wrong, my cheap old Z grill felt better built and was a third the cost, this is likely the last Masterbuilt I purchase

Terrible Repairability and wants to break. Right away, the wifi performance was terrible, I requested help and got a new head unit. I thought this was good service. The replacement SUUUUUCKED. The smoker IS NOT built to be repaired. It's built like some engineer in CAD thought it'd be repairable, but it truly sucks to mess with the headunit. The clearances are awful, the cords hang with no slop as you're contorting your hand to undo screws. It's really annoying. But I got it done - wifi still sucked (it's not my network) but I was going to chock it up to user antenna error.
Come 1 year later
I bought this less than 3 years ago and it already broke. Specifically, the flap for opening the smoke side to the chamber. It sheared off. I contact support again. They send me a replacement kit. THE FLAP IS ALSO IMPOSSIBLE TO REPAIR. The Only thing on the entire smoker that'd make it entirely broken, broke after 2 years. There's an S shaped piece that means you can't rethread anything onto the flap inside the chamber. It also means you can't replace the parts unless you remove the smoke chamber entirely. GUESS WHERE THEY PUT THE SCREWS?! Yeah, inside the smoke chamber as philips screws. Bone headed decision. The screws were rusted out entirely and would have to be drilled out. There's so many other ways to attach a thing to a thing, I don't know why they chose the worst one.
I tried to ask for help again and they said that because of rust, they can't help me. My options are to now h

Best of All Worlds! I found out about this smoker several weeks after having purchased a pellet smoker and boy was I upset! I still decided that I had to have it and I’m so glad I got. It has the ease of a pellet smoker, the taste of charcoal and/or wood, and the flame kissed taste of fire. It doesn’t get any better!

Awesome overall. This thing is awesome overall. If you're a charcoal guy or gal looking for "set and forget" function, this is the closest rival to a pellet grill I've found. Better in my opinion. I've cooked low and slow all day and seared steaks, burgers, brats ect. Results are very impressive. Pit temp is very steady and heats up fast. The grill will be ready before your burgers are.
A few minor things... on a super hot summer day, I had to choke the air to about 1/2 to keep pit temp from rising above 225. The app could use some tweaks. It's kinda chatty on notifications. I wish I could take it off hold from the app (in case I forget to push the button). Heating up it typically over shoots by 50 degrees. Doesn't take long to come back down. I just set the temp -50 from desired temp and reset temp when it gets there. . My thoughts are if you're using charcoal, you're probably used to making some adjustments. So, not a big deal for me.
It's kind of a tank. You'll need a friend to assemble.

Best Purchase Ever! I bought this bad boy about 2 months ago and have not stopped cooking on it. This was my first ever smoker and before buying I always check reviews and friend’s personal experiences. I have some that had pellets and some that had MasterBuilt. The ones that had pellets said they were ok, but the ones that had MasterBuilt, had zero complaints and all praise. Long story short, for someone whose never smoked anything in there life until now, I love it and will never look back. One thing I love is I can still get a nice sear on my steaks, I couldn’t get that with a pellet grill. Absolve this smoker!

Reliability issues. I bought the XT in early July. Setup was straight forward and the instructions are very clear. I did the burn off. I have since used it maybe 6 times. It is very easy to use. The app is great and it’s easy to clean. Have also found some nice recipes in the app and hope to try those out sometime. Well… the 7th or so time I went to use it, the screen was blank and never even lit up. Confirmed power to the outlet, unplugged for a while, confirmed the wiring was intact, but still didn’t turn on. I filed a warranty claim but still haven’t heard back after several days. Overall I’m disappointed in the reliability for such an expensive machine.

It's a BEAST! I purchased this grill a month ago. What an upgrade over my old pellet grill. The temperature holds rock solid so far. The cleaning is a breeze with stainless grill grates. I loved going back to lump charcoal with wood chunks sprinkled in, so much better flavor! The hopper easily handled an 8 hour cook with lots of room to spare. I know I'm talking this machine up, but so far, it's been my best grill ever. And I've had several over the years.

Failed Fan After 2 Months...sometimes things break. Have cooked up a pork tenderloin, some ribeye's and a bunch of burgers for a kids water slide party. All went really well. Tried two nice baby back slabs and the fan failed mid cook. The warranty experience was good, but a bit clunky due to contact via email only. I have some electronics skills so I laid out my troubleshooting steps in the email. Verified the door interlocks were functioning, controller temp was set to demand the fan to run, fan icon on the display showed demand for the fan to run and verified 12 volts at the fan connector which should cause the fan to rotate. My conclusion, was the fan failed. I included the requested pictures of the serial number and fan on the grill and submitted the request on 7/15.
On 7/17 I received via email a request for a copy of my purchase receipt as there was no registration information associated with my email. Quickly replied with the requested information.
On 7/21 I received via email confirmation that a warranty order for a new fan was submitted to send me a replacement fan.
On 7/24 the new fan arrived. Installed the fan and tested for function and the fan worked as expected.
Bottomline: 9 day from initial contact to warranty problem resolution----Big Win from my perspective.
The email back and forth was effective but does highlight the drawbacks of passive communication like email. I would expect several more iterations of troubleshooting emails back and forth to final

Good Not Great - Yet. After waiting for almost a year on the 'wait list,' the notice came through that the new heavy-duty XT was available. I ordered it immediately.
It arrived in a timely fashion on a large pallet and was very heavy and does indeed take 2 people to move. Do not make the mistake I made and READ the instructions before you begin to uncrate the product. It will be a bit easier if you do.
The directions - pictures and arrows only - are confusing and in odd sequences that make the assembly process more difficult than it should be. At one step - the installation of the hopper support bar - the image was so poor that it was impossible to make out.
That meant a lot of guessing, re-doing, undoing, and doing again.
I only had one part that did not fit, or at least, by the pictograph instructions, how it was to be installed.
Once assembled, it was good and the extra quality was far above my original Masterbuilt 1050. I was familiar with the first-fire process and was cautious about the Wi-Fi connection, having had a persistent challenge with the connectivity on my 1050.
I added a Wi-Fi booster in a shed near my BBQ 'kitchen' area, and the connection was fast and good with the added signal strength. The upgraded electronics are a good addition to the product.
The first 2 cooks worked well. Cleanup is far easier with the high-grade grills and improved surface treatment of the smoker interior and grease tray. Start-up and shutdown are great with the integrated ve

Boss, Pit Boss. I had the 1050 for over five years and I thought it was the best smoker I had ever used. Well, the XT has made me rethink that position! It truly is the boss!
For those of you looking and thinking it is not much different from the 1050 or 1100, you are WRONG! Start with the weight of this thing. The 1050 I could pick up myself with no really issues. The XT took me, and my two sons-in-law to pick it up off the pallet! Did I just say pallet? YES! This thing is so big and heavy it is shipped on a commercial pallet by a professional trucking company!
Once I got it setup (took about 1.5 hours and I am a retired military mechanic) I went about firing it up and getting it ready for some real smoking. I was very suprised that Masterbuilt did not recommend "seasoning" this smoker. After doing some reading and research it is because all the grates are stainless steel. There is no reason to "season" them. So, I did the burn off per Masterbuilt's recommendations. Take your time when doing this. Make sure to thoroughly clean the smoker after both the high temp burn in and the lower temp burn in.
Once that was done, it was time to put it to the test! I chose Memphis style, dry rub baby back ribs. The XT kept a very consistent and even temperature. I used both the probes that came with it as well as my own. I did find that the issue with the XT running about 15 - 20 degrees hot is still there (the LSS temperature probe mount has already been ordered) but knowing th

Assembly Tips and Feedback. Use/review the online .pdf version of the manual on your phone or tablet as the CAD drawings in the printed version do not reproduce with the detail that is displayed on screen.
Step 1. Note placing the grill back on the pallet. This is needed because the legs are angled and will extend below the plane of the back of the grill. I was by myself and was able to place a 2x4 wrapped with a moving blanket under the grill to tilt it for clearance.
Step 5. Leave the fasteners a little loose as there will be a 3-way alignment task in steps 10 and 11 while attaching the heat shields.
Step 13. If I tightened the bolts all the way the folded table would press tightly against the side of the grill and not be able to move to use. I shimmed behind the shelf bracket with a couple of stainless washers to give about 1/16 of an inch clearance to allow the folding bracket to move freely. I felt having the bolts tight was important due to the handle used for moving the grill uses the same mounting bolts.
I had difficulty pairing the XT with the App. Ultimately, I consulted the Google which led me to offload the App and re-install. It linked up right after that.
Seasoning went off without a hitch and I’m starting my using the grill use journey.

An honest review. I'm still in the honeymoon phase with this grill. I've had it less than 1 month and like some things about it but not others. I have done several cooks now and this is what I think. I had an kamado type grill before this and I had trouble getting the fire going and then getting it to and staying at the temp I wanted. That problem is solved with the XT, but I'm going through charcoal so much faster with the gravity. I can start the XT, set the temp, walk away and go prepare food. The temperature is going to be ready when I go back to put food on. I like the app for it, so I can see where the temp is. The cooking area is so enclosed that it is dark inside the grill on my back porch even on a bright day. Cooking steaks on it is easy enough, and they came out great. I smoked chicken, burgers, and green beans for Easter. The chicken and beans were raved about. The burgers were a pain. A lot of flame in the grill and smoke in my face. I also have cooked chicken quesadillas on it and same issue with smoke in my eyes from it. I think for a smoker it will work great and for the steaks it will be good also, but hamburgers that have a lot of grease it won't be fun, unless I use the griddle and make smash burgers. I haven't figure out yet, was it worth the high cost of this grill/smoker or should I have gone a different route. For someone that loves to grill during the week, will it work as a grill or is it really only going to be good for those long smokes.

Traeger to Gravity XT- not an ounce of buyers remo. I bought the Gravity XT to replace a Traeger I have been using for the last 6 years.
I love the ease of use, functionality, and quality of the foods that have came off of it so far.
Only “gotcha” I’ve experienced so far is shutting down and hoping for briquettes to burn out, wasn’t as ideal as into the next day the remainder burned out of the hopper.
Just need to add enough for cook and add more as necessary.
Not a complaint necessarily just new ownership tips!

Gravity XT rock solid! I bought the Gravity XT in September 2025, used off of Facebook marketplace. Guy said he used it 3 times. It was immaculate. Go to fire it up and realized I have no fire starter just a charcoal chimney. Bought fire starter the next day. Easy to start in the warmer months but been cooking in Rochester NY winter and you definitely need to block off the rear vent until it gets up to heat. Don’t do it. I ignored the warning signs in reviews and forums and bought the Masterbuilt XT anyway—big mistake. I’ve had it for less than a month, and the temperature readings are wildly inaccurate, sometimes fluctuating by 100–200 degrees. On top of that, it’s been nearly impossible to reach anyone for help or even submit a support request. For what this grill costs, that’s unacceptable, and I regret the purchase. Starting to feel like the positive reviews are just influencers and people who were gifted the grill to promote it.

Gravity XT Great grill one issue. I bought a Gravity XT in September 25. Everything was great except the fan stopped working after only 4 cooks. (Mid October) I worked with Customer service and troubleshooting found a fault with the fan. Unfortunately the fan wouldn’t be available until the end of December or January 2026. This is very frustrating since I can’t use the grill until it is fixed. Also Masterbuilt will not extend my warranty because of their lack of parts.
One other issue is that the firebox shut off doesn’t close all the way leading to wasted charcoal after the cook. I have to make sure that the shut off is held closed to prevent wasting charcoal.
When the grill was working everything was great. I cooked ribs, chicken, pork butt, and chuck roast all turned out great. I would recommend this grill as a great smoker/grill based on my limited use. It works well, holds temp, adjustments are easy on the grill or the app. For the higher price, I would expect better parts availability and customer satisfaction.
Hopefully the future will be better.

Worth every penny. I invested in an XT model, after buying a 1050 and using it for 3 years. The XT arrived and was easy to assemble. The Smoker was great at maintaining temperature, as well as easy to control temperature. The Smoker had plenty of metal parts: fan, heavy duty wheels, a digital display for obtaining the best barbecue known to mankind. Quick to start, clean up is a breeze, this is the best smoker I’ve ever owned. I was so impressed, I bought another one for holidays, making me the hero of the family. Good, for all around evetyhting. I received this smoker/grill as a Father’s Day/birthday gift, after I convinced my family that I needed it.
It is very large, and well built, but lacks in a few areas.
You do have to clean it very regularly, literally after every use.
It does take a while to get to searing temperatures.
It chews through the charcoal, for one pork shoulder (approx 22 hour smoke) I had to refill the hopper twice, so that was full to start and refill two more times at 230 temp.
The grilling grates are a disaster,, why they are half the size of the grill, I have no idea.
The app is very delayed for temp readings.

Exceeded expectations! I’ve owned several charcoal grills over the years and by far this is the best one I have purchased. The Masterbuilt Gravity Series XT takes outdoor cooking to a whole new level. The digital control panel is a game-changer! I can set my exact temperature, walk away, and trust that it will stay rock-solid for hours. The convenience feels like a pellet grill, but I still get that authentic charcoal flavor that can’t be matched.
The gravity-fed hopper is brilliant — it holds enough charcoal for long cooks without me having to constantly reload, and it burns very efficiently. I’ve used it for everything from low-and-slow ribs and brisket to high-heat searing for steaks, and it handles both ends of the spectrum beautifully.
Clean-up is easier than I expected for a charcoal grill, and the heavy-duty build feels solid and built to last. It’s become my go-to for family dinners and weekend BBQs, and my guests can’t stop complimenting the food.
If you love charcoal flavor but want the precision of modern technology, this grill is absolutely worth it. Highly recommend!

The Masterbuilt Gravity Series is considered a game-changer for many who want the flavor of charcoal with the ease of use of a pellet grill. They are highly praised for their performance, temperature control, and versatility. However, potential buyers should be aware of the reported quality control and long-term durability issues. Works well and has lasted a year now. Been about a year since I bought the smoker. It does pretty well. The temperature controller could be a little better (the offset is pretty bad and it occasionally loses its mind) but overall its a great smoker and an adequate grill for higher temperatures for steaks and such. Just makes sure you clean the bottom well before going into searing temps as you will get a grease fire if you dont.

The best of both worlds! The “set it and forget it” of a pellet smoker with the flavor of an offset. The thicker steel and the new design of the door help hold the heat in so it’s more efficient. The grate that the charcoal rests on is a major improvement over the previous versions. I do miss the grill grates from the previous gravity fed smokers.

Great Upgrade from 1050. Been a big fan of the master built gravity series since I got my 1050 when it first came out, I put that one through the ringer got a lot of great cooks out of it, and it still lasted enough for me to actually sell it and make room for the XT. I love the size of the XT and the new technology with the display is definitely an upgrade. I recommend this for someone that’s looking to still add a touch of barbecue technique without fully sacrificing their time to get quality product out of their barbecue.

Won a bet with my boss at work and got an XT. Yall, i cant express to you how happy I am with my XT!
I made a bet with my boss at work where if i beet the company record in sales, he had to buy me this smoker (wife wouldn't let me til we bought a house)
I won the smoker, got it Tuesday last week, and since then i've had 2 long cooks and some burgers. I'll share pics of my brisket, but I kid you not... this grill is a DREAM
I also get free high end lamb in return for sharing my recipes and pics of the food I make, and this thing has ALREADY upgraded my lambfluencer game. LOVE THIS THING

All I can say is so worth the money. I bought this because I was looking to replace my charcoal grill. I have 4 smokers already a propane powered one, a stock burner, a pellet smoker, and a bullet style charcoal smoker. The gravity CT has the easy usage of the pellet smoker with the versatility of a stick burner or charcoal smoker. I can use split pieces of wood. I can use pellets or chunks of wood mixed with charcoal. Love it

Garbage died before 2 months. Don’t buy!!! Do not buy this grill!! The grill died on me. Flat out stopped working. I have only had it for two months and only used it four times. I keep it in my shed when not using, so it wasn’t exposed to the elements.
They sent me a flow chart to follow and it wound up that the “controller” is dead. They can’t send me a new one because so many are dying that they are on “back order”.
I asked for a refund because I didn’t want to get another piece of garbage controller and have it die when I am not in warranty and be stuck sinking more money into this garbage. They said no only the retailer can refund and they already know it’s been too long.
Tldr: garbage died in two months. Can’t fix because garbage controller is on “back order”.

After 1 year, I love my XT. I've owned my XT for just over a year now. It's my first Gravity fed smoker and I'm very happy with it overall. I had Masterbuilt propane smokers prior to this one and I think this may be my best. I can grill ro smoke and the flavor is awesome.
It took a while to get used to the temp control and what worked best, but I love testing and trying new things.
In the end, it's all about the quality of the food I produce and my XT is better than any other smoker or grill I've ever owned.

My favorite grill smoker ever!! This thing is awesome!! I smoked 4 poke butts at the same time no problem. I can fit 2 whole turkeys on here. Temperature is rock solid. Charcoal usage is pretty good. Heavy duty and I’m in love!

XT is a beast! I replaced the 560 with the XT. They corrected/improved failings of the 560. This is so well constructed that you don't feel any heat until you open the hood. I found that with use the fan lever opens and closes fully with use. The thermostat is a whole lot more consistent as well as the wi-fi to your phone. I have used another temp system alongside the MB and the difference is consistent, so it gets me close the temp I want and just check it with a handheld thermometer. Love this smoker.

The Cadillac of Smokers. This is a game changer. It takes the frustration and anxiety of smoking with previous smokers. I can sleep comfortably knowing that my fire is not going to go out. If I need to leave home for any reason, I can do it comfortably knowing I can monitor from my app. I can turn it off remotely if my desired temp has been reached. It makes smoking a breeze, almost effortless. It was worth every dime, no buyer's remorse.

Once you get past the cost, its a wonderful grill. My Nieces husband and i were talking and he found out i was looking to get a new smoker and change from electric to real smoker. He suggested the masterbuilt unit and i did my research and bought with a great deal from ACE free assembly and free delivery and 300 off. I will admit it was rough start i had a problem with wild temp swings. I contacted customer service and they worked with my and after trouble shooting they sent me a new temp sensor and its been solid since. Stuff happens but its how its dealt with that matters. I've had multiple cooks and love it. The rotiserie is very well done with solid parts. Runs very quiet. Its impressive as well

Easy to use, great smoke, & built strong. I purchased the XT about a year ago. I smoke & grill on it about twice a week & 2-3 times a month with large long cooks like brisket. I own 3 pellet smokers but they lack the flavor that only charcoal & wood can provide. My briskets, tomahawks, short ribs, etc...don't touch anything besides my XT!!! If you pay extra to splurge on some higher end meats don't cheat your meal by using pellets to cook it. I originally purchased the 1050 a few months after it was released & it lasted me until about 2 years ago. The only problem i had was the warping & had to replace the fan once which is a very minimal complaint. The XT is MUCH more durable than its predecessor & i feel comfortable enough to crank the heat up to get that kiss of fire!!! It's extremly simple to use, I don't experience heat swings unless I'm opening the hood, cleaning is simple, & i love the new display location!!! I can't honestly say this XT will last me 5+ years just like my 1050 did!!! Masterbuilt doesn't disappoint 💪👍

Smoking ribs and honey do’s Saturday. I bought this smoker a few months ago, it has not let me down. The Wi-Fi range is excellent around my property. The master built charcoal is excellent for ribs, chicken and brisket. I can smoke anything and take care of my chores at the same time.

Overshoots temp frequently and by a lot. It's requires more work than it should because it overshoots temp too easily. After a few discussions and replacing the fan flap, support told me that 100 deg overshoots are normal. This just doesn't seem right to me. I'd give the unit 5 stars if it weren't for this critical issue which largely offsets the convenience of having a controller. This is my assessment which I gave them but they didn't really respond to:
1. When the fan is off to some degree the oven temp seems to rise inaccurately because when the fan comes on the temp drops. If this were the whole problem maybe it would be a minor issue, but this seems maybe 10-20% of the problem.
2. I've definitely seen the fan running when the temp is above the set temp.
3. The temp can rise dramatically while the fan is off (far in excess of the problem in #1). I can prevent the overheat by watching carefully and using the hold button along with opening the lid to cool down an overshoot.
#1 feels like a design issue. When the fan is off some heat must build up by the sensor.
#2 must be a bug in the controller.
#3 Feels like it could be a design issue that too much airflow is possible when the fan is off. I'm encouraged that by using the hold button I can avoid the issue, so maybe a controller update can address this. But it needs to be very smart and based on rates not just the current temp. You need to sacrifice a bit more speed to achieve accuracy.

great smoker/grill. I bought this grill/smoker XT about a month ago and I have had chance to use several times, my biggest challenge has been starting the smoker with left over lump coal. I decided to use Briquettes with a Mesquite log. it makes it much easier to start. outside of that the flavor is phenomenal.

FANTASTIC SMOKER. I am an outdoor cooking enthusiast with 7 smokers on the property. What brings me to buy my first Masterbuilt? The ability to go electric and use wood splits and chunks....There is a learning curve as someone who loves a good Ole stick burner. You MUST mix Lump Coal or charcoal with your wood splits or chunks. My first cook was a brisket, crazy but true and it wasn't half bad at all. Wrapped in butcher paper to maintain the bark but controlled temperature was a challenge. I have since made ribs and other delightful meats. I guess my other pics are to large to post but these ribs were delicious!!!

Temp Controller Off. Build quality is excellent. Only fault is the temp controler and app. The temps between the controller and the app are not close at times. Master Built needs to revamp the temp controller. I used a ChefTemp to comparer the two. Some times there was a 150 degree difference. Did the burn in. Will be smoking this weekend. I recommend going to the web site and using the owners/instruction manual. Paper manual that comes in the box is good but the pics are dark, manual is much better. From what I have used the smoker so far I recommend it to all.

Good grill when it works, frustrating company. Ordered an xt back in April directly from masterbuilts website, it arrived to me missing the "fan flap", something I never would have noticed except the temperatures kept overshooting by 50-100 degrees on low temp cooks, when I reached out to support I asked why that flap was missing and the response I got was "did you assemble it yourself?" The "fan flap" isn't part of user assembly and should have been pre-installed in the fan chute, good on masterbuilt to at least send me the missing part for free, but once I recieved the part there was no instructions whatsoever couldn't find any instructions online or in any masterbuilt manuals, reaching out to support again the only instructions I received involved removing the old fan flap and putting the new one in its place, which probably would have been super easy to spot if my unit came with one, support couldn't even provide me a picture of where it was supposed to go which is wild to me. Support ghosted me and finally called after I emailed them again, but again the call wasn't too helpful because the only instructions were to look for a metal bracket on top of the fan chute, which again my unit didn't come with one. A frustrating experience overall, but glad its over, hopefully it holds temps better when cooking on lower heat.
Another thing that was annoying was even though I ordered the grill through masterbults website, it came with a bunch of marketing stickers glued to the si

Customer Service Issues. I purchased the gravity XT with the hopes of using it for this past memorial day cooking. The unit arrived with out the correct legs. I contacted customer service and created a ticket. I sent pictures of the legs and the bracket on the grill showing how they could not possibly work. Customer service asks for pictures with the legs in place on the grill. I provided those pictures as well. They agreed that the legs were wrong and would ship me news legs under warranty. It has been 2 weeks since they said they would send me a tracking number. I have had to contact them twice to ask for the tracking number and the response is that they have not received the tracking information from the shipper. Which means, they has not provided a package to the shipper yet. So, no memorial day cooking for me

If you don't have one, get one! I've had mine for about 8 months now. The versatility of this grill is like no other. Maintains temperature very well, recovers temperature losses quickly after opening grill to tend to the meats. Wonderful smoke flavor from lump charcoal, I like to add chunks of hickory, cherry or post oak to tailor the wood flavor to the meat I am cooking. Once you get the hang of lighting the charcoal (hint: shake out the charcoal grate in the hopper, this removes the ash that clogs airflow) this thing heats up quickly to 225° and gets to 700° in another 15 minutes and you can sear those steaks. Biggest piece of advice, clean out the ash on the regular. Ash will block air flow and heat from the hopper to the grilling area.
* Best grill/smoker I own, haven't cooked on my pellet smoke since!

built well, great features. built in front shelf and side shelf. The ease of a pellet grill, but with charcoal flavor. Holds moisture well because of double wall construction. Can use with wood also. Gives the taste of an offset, without having to tend a fire all day. And everything i have cooked or smoked has come out fantastic with very little effort. Absolutely love this grill.

Bought this to compete with offset smoker. Really excited when I purchased this. Assembly was quite a bit of work so prepare for 2+ hours to open up all of the boxes and get everything put together. Directions are not always clear and photos are a bit difficult to see as they’re all printed in black and white. But it is a solid smoker once built.
My initial burn in did not go as planned because the vent flap that closes off the burn chamber must leak slightly so it wouldn’t snuff out the fire. This caused me to lose all of my fuel. Working with masterbuilt support now to troubleshoot but am likely to have to disassemble to smoker just to get to the parts to fix it.

Simply a beast. I love this thing! I have only used it twice - once for a couple of big ribeye and once for a couple of butts. All I can say is WOW! Tremendous smoke rings, flavor, and tenderness. Only ding is it was a bear to assemble by myself, and the legs were a real pain. But ease of use and flavor is tremendous and build quality is like a tank.

I looked at the Masterbuilt Gravity and thought I’d give it try. My thoughts were that if this girl does what I says it will do, I’ll find what I wanted. It did. Smoke Rings! 3 Rib Smokes, 2 Pork Butt Smokes, 1 Chuck Roast, 2 batches of beans and New York Steaks.
Using an old charcoal smoker that finally rusted itself to death and decided to pull the trigger on an XT.
Everything has smoke rings. The ribs were perfect, father in-law says it was the best meal he has ever had.
And cooking the steaks, just as easy as a gas grill, but with the charcoal flavor!
Same flavor as my old smoker but I no longer have to babysit every hour to "stoke" the pit.
So easy to use with real smoke pit results!
