Masterbuilt Half-Grate Griddle Insert

Does not fit as advertised. This is advertised to fit the xt, but it cannot be placed with grates aligning flush. Makes it pretty useless.

OK. Needs a proper redesign for the Gravity XT. I bought this for my Gravity XT. It is a 1/3-grate griddle, not half. And it isn't a true insert because it is slightly wider than the grate it is replacing -- so they don't create a continuous flat surface. I have to sit it on top of the grate, which is less than optimal. It also scratches easily. I wish Masterbuilt would introduce an insert that is purpose designed to fit an XT -- either 1/3, 2/3, or full grate insert. At 1/3 size, it is actually too small for many purposes. I only own one, but I would think two side by side wouldn't work with the lip between the two.

Not actually half size. If I wanted something that want a true half sized I could have bought aftermarket.

I think it could be improved. I bought 2 of these griddle inserts for my XT, They worked making chicken quesadillas, but I was cooking for just 2 of us and there just wasn't enough room. I would have liked to be able to get a griddle insert like the ones for the 1150 that is 1 full size piece instead of having to buy 2 that don't cover the whole space of the XT. it was to hard to work with because of the edges where the 2 came together. I would like to try fried rice on it, but I think it will be frustrating trying to do it on the 2 inserts. I think this could be improved with just 1 solid piece that covers the cooking area.

Great Accessories. My family love... great for burger an fryed rice !!!!

Breakfast. I use it for cooking breakfast. Eggs and who doesn't like bacon.

Great Griddle. I ordered the Masterbuilt Half Grate Griddle from HD two weeks ago and Saturday I was finally able to use it. I bought it for my Autoignite 545 Series. I made some smash burgers. This Griddle is excellent. The cleanup was effortless. Nothing stuck to the griddle. I would definitely recommend this. You don’t have to worry because this griddle is a fantastic quality build.

As a lifelong Pit Master who has cooked on just about everything this is a great addition to the grill! Perfect for smash burgers, which we love, and anything that a traditional griddle can do... this can do especially when you company it will the grill grate on the other side and charcoal flavor!

Not as good as could be. I have the gravity XT and the grills don't fit as well as if it was the 1150 or smaller. I wish they made a bigger half insert with a handle. Also i wish the grease trap wouldn't dump the oil on heat deflectors. I do like that it is a half insert and I don't have to put in a deflector.

LUV THIS GRIDDLE INSERT! i can cook so many things on this and it doesnt take up all the room ive cooked pancakes and loads of other things on this!

Well built. Needs more heat. This is a great griddle, on the wrong grill. Really well built. Appropriately weighty. But it’s let down by the heat output of the AutoIgnite grill. Just doesn’t get hot enough.

Great addition to my grill! So excited about the new Half-Grate Griddle!! It makes for the perfect size to cook any side of vegetables, potatoes, sausages or breakfast items! Quality is definitely there, you can feel it in the weight. The product itself is seamlessly built. With one side having a flat surface and the other side with a textured surface, it gives you the option to sear with marks or cook on a flat surface. Which is perfect for versatility! Great side addition to my grill!

could be better. Uaed the griddle after seasoning, it on my gravity xt. I got 2 and used them side by side. They did not fit perfect and had some gaps. The griddle did got hot. I did burgers and grilled veggies. I wish it came with a handle to like the 1050 griddle but did like that there was no extra pieces to install. Made going from grates to griddle easy.

Exceeded my Expectations! I have tried a bunch of griddle inserts before and have had mixed results, but this Half Griddle insert from Masterbuilt exceeded my expectations. It has two sides, one with grill lines and one side which is flat, so you have a lot of versatility. It also fits perfectly on my Autoignite 545 which is great, because I use it mostly for high heat grilling. If you use an Autoignite 545, Gravity Series 560/600 or a Gravity Series XT and are looking for a Griddle plate for it, this will work great for you.

Perfect for Reverse Searing Steak! The perfect accessory for the Gravity Series grills and an absolute beast for reverse searing steaks! I replace one of the grates with this griddle insert, smoke my steak on the other grate. When it hits 125F IT I take the steak off and crank the smoker to 500F. Let that cast iron get ripping hot and then sear my steak on it. Some of the best steaks you can do.

Two sides are better than One. Love the two sided approach where you can smash burgers on one side and get perfect grill marks on the other. The heavy duty cast-iron gets hot and stays hot!

Awesome little griddle!! This little griddle was awesome and got the job done! If you don’t have a griddle this insert is the way to go!

Get it good and hot. After washing and seasoning my Masterbuilt griddle top, I did my first cook with it. I wasn't sure what temperature to set my Autoignite 545 so I started at 375. That was too low and quickly figured out I need to max out the temperature of the grill to 650 in order to get the griddle hot enough. Once I got the griddle hot enough it cooked some of the most evenly cooked bacon I have ever made on any cooking device. After the bacon was cooked I turned to a pound of chorizo and browned that for tacos later that night. If you properly season your griddle, you should have no problems with clean up. My griddle cleaned up easily with a steam cleaning with water to the hot griddle wiped it off with paper towels and then put another coat of griddle seasoning on and let it cool down. This is a nice addition to my cooking aresnal. If you are in a hurry, this is not the way to cook. Between heating up the 545 to 650 and cooking a batch of bacon and chorizo and cleaning the griddle afterwards was about 1 1/2 hours, and then wait for the 545 to cool down to put away at the end of the day. IF you are just looking for an enjoyable cook with some free time on your hands on the weekend or your dayoff, this is great.
