Kamado Joe Half-Moon Deflector Plates (Set of 2) – Big Joe

Even Works With Older Grills. I purchased these with the support to use in my old Saffire Grill and they fit perfectly.

Replacement Deflector Plates for Big Joe II. These Deflector Plates are a direct replacement for my original units. One of my original deflector plates cracked in half without ever having been dropped. The replacement deflectors were delivered prompty and have my Big Joe II back up and operational. My only complaint is that the warranty wasn't longer, or that they didn't at least over the replacement set at a discount.

Half-moon Deflectors. Very poor packaging. I have been waiting for a month now and have yet to receive a good set of heat deflectors. The first order was broken. The second order was also broken and was sent to the wrong address. I had to drive across town just to find that the second order was broken. Now Customer service will not even reply to my emails. I am still waiting to hear back on a solution.

Good stones. These deflectors are a must and are resilient, provided you know how to care for them... Also don't do something silly like exposing them to sudden thermal shock... THEN writing a neg review regarding their lack of "quality."

Ok product. Really brittle and break really easy. Otherwise, does the job.

Stone is too thin. It Breaks. The plates broke after one use. Too thin. Thank goodness I had a smoker stone from my Chargriller Smoker that fits and is thicker and more durable.

Do not purchase! Do not buy these. They crack under normal use, and Kamado Joe will not honor the warranty.

unhappy with results. This item was delivered broken again. The replacement of the first broken delivery was also broken

plates break again. This is my second set of half moon deflector plates and they have broken as well. I use my grill regularly and am very unhappy that I have to spend so much money replacing the deflector plates

Deflectors. Good quality an appear to be well made, not fragile.

Great Product Poor Customer Service. Love the product but customer service was lacking. The "in-stock" rotisserie and deflector plates were ordered on 27 Nov 2023 and delivered 19 Jan 2024! I never could get a good answer from customer service regarding the delay. Recommended ordering from a third party like BBQ Guys. I spent too much time trying to make this Christmas present delivery happen.

5 sets have failed in six months. Absolute garbage. These are now garbage, unfortunately. My first set from 2017 lasted nearly 6 years. Now I’ve been through 5 sets in 6 months. All of them fail due to large cracks that develop with smoke penetration plainly visible. Some when pulled hot, some when pulled cold. Fortunately none of the blazing hot shards of ceramic have pierced my feet… I’m done returning and exchanging these.

Disappointed. On my third set in 5 years and I didn’t use my Joe while going through leukemia treatment for 2 years. These deflectors are a disappointment and unfortunately necessary.

Great Feature. I purchased this to replace the one I broke. It works great as expected and could not grill or bbq without them.

Poor quality. Broke during normal use. Temp was about 400 degrees. When I went to go grab it, only half came with me.

Heat Reflectors Need Major Improvements. Bought the Kamado Joe Classic II a year ago from Abt. The heat reflectors broke within 6 months. Abt replaced them and yesterday one of the reflectors broke again by just simple handling.

Amazing Accessories. I got these about 2 months ago now and have fixed some great indirect heat meats and reduced the amount of charcoal and wood to maintain the exact same cooking temperature and times

Needs Improvement. Deflector plates do not last. End up having to buy a new set almost every year and KJ will no longer warranty them.

Limited life. Work well but cracked after it was out of warranty just from the fire. Disappointed that a key component of the grill seems to be treated as a part that needs replacement and not covered by the same ceramic warranty as other key components. Was great while it lasted. Now I need to spend a hundred bucks to make my grill functional again

Kamado Joe is a Pro!!!! All, these plates are made of ceramic. High heat will cause them to crack. If you will read your warranty paperwork you will see that a vast majority of the internal ceramics and additions are covered. I purchased a classic joe when they first came out. After 8 years of grilling I had to replace the internal ceramic components due to cracking. Kamado Joe never even blinked. They sent the updated firebox ceramics, at no charge. I will ALWAYS be a Kamado Joe guy!!!!!

Heat defector cracks every other year. They are the only option but they heat fracture every other year. They should make them a bit thicker.

Ceramic deflector plates a must have ! Great product! A must have when smoking low and slow!!

half moon deflectors. I got my Joe from an auction and the deflector plates were broken so I ordered them a few months afterwards and they have made a tremendous difference for the better. The temperature maintains better. Having the option for indirect cooking offers better results for some foods that may require more subtle cooking.

Price. Expensive but very necessary. Same thing can be purchased at a pottery kiln supply for a fraction

Deflector plates. I brought these deflector plates they work great I highly recommend them. There is so many different options to cook with these.

poorly made. These heat deflector's are poorly made and crack very easily. They are a stain on the Kamado Joe legacy. Please offer something superior.

Fine after a few years, but one flaw. These have worked fine for the last few years, but it's got one flaw that KJ could easily fix by providing another product. That flaw is that this is two pieces, and unless you can get it to fit flush perfectly after a thorough cleaning after every cook, heat will make it through the seam. KJ needs to offer a full circle which takes away the seam and allows for a full deflection of heat to the sides. I like these in case I need to block heat and have a hot and cold side, but for long smoke where I want the heat blocked the whole time (brisket for example), I want to see a full moon (one piece circle). I'd buy it instantly. Right now, I have to use some foil to combine the too.

Quality product. It’s a good quality accessory, in some cases it’s must have. I love it for indirect cooking.

Beautiful but shipping is a nightmare. Not sure if shipping to NY is the reason, Christmas season, por because of the weight, but it was almost like pulling teeth to find out about the status of the shipping. Otherwise, the half moon deflectors work like a charm. Very brittle, but easy to care for if you're attentive

Plate cracked for no reason. I have a similar experience to Jaffar with regard to the deflector plates. I purchased a Kamodo Joe about 3 or 4 years ago and found one of the plates cracked in half recently. I do not expect the ceramic plates to crack unless misused and these were not misused. I will have to purchase a replacement as this is a necessary accessory for the kamado joe and they worked great until one of them cracked.

One happy smoker. I am a repeat customer. Their products are of the highest quality.

Broke into two pieces. One of my deflector half moon playes broke into two pieces after only about 18 months of usage. The response by KJ was very poor and they gave me the run around and never replaced the broken half moon deflector plate.

Great until it breaks. Love my Joe classic, was starting a cook this evening and one deflector plate cracked during my rib cook, for no rhyme or reason. Unfortunately these aren’t available locally so I had a subpar result tonight. Please dice the design. These plates were only two years old and should last longer.

Should not have broken. I have purchased three KamadoJoe's. Two for me and one for a son in law. This piece should not have broken in the first place.

breaks for no reason PLEASE fix the QUALITY. These are necessary for cooking but break too easily for no reason. Second set of these broken. I always start them off on the grill and leave them on while the grill cools like you should with these , but that doesn't even help keep these from breaking.

Moon Heat Deflectors. Love my Big Joe II. It has completely changed my expectations of how meat should taste. For such a robust, Heavy Duty and well built unit, the heat deflectors are very fragile. My 1st set of deflectors broke within a few short months. Not the end of the world, but is there an alternative ie. cast iron? Stainless Steel? Thx, Matthew

Deflector plates. So far so good. Definitely worth the money. It has changed the way I use the kettle joe.

Very Fragile. Came with my bbq. Placed in the BBQ intact and one side broke in half (during cooking). Same eventually happened with the other half. Both broke within the first year. Disappointing and seems to be a relatively common problem. We bought 3rd party replacements and so far they have been both cheaper and lot more durable.

Great accessory. Replaced a broken deflector plate so that everything functions properly again.

Same Problem broken deflectors. I bought this grill last year in may-june from BJs. My deflectors broke about 3-4 months ago. I thought I was a rare case when they broke, u know I thought I set them down too hard or something(though I only move them to put charcoal in the grill). I cant find them anywhere in-store so I thought to get them online and low and behold everyone that has this grill is having the same problem...strange or manufacturer defect. Best grill I ever had. It one-ups the weber grills which were #1 before I bought this one.

You don't ship to Hawaii. Strange it's the 50th state in the UNITED STATES of AMERICA. Why wouldn't you ship there? Can't give 5 stars - I bought the thing here and retailers don't carry the deflector plates. three years I've had the KJCII - love it - a deflector just cracked last fall while I was smoking a pork butt or ribs - can't remember which. Been otherwise occupied with CV 19 BS and just know getting round to ordering - only to find out you don't ship to Hawaii. Wow.

Please fix the design or the manufacturing problem. I purchased my Big Joe about three years ago; I found one side of my second set of half-moon deflectors in two pieces this afternoon. I am incredibly disappointed. The deflectors are necessary for proper fire management; these components should not simply crack without a cause. Now I have to purchase a third set. The Ace Hardware store where I bought the KomadoJoe was very generous and replaced the first set for no charge. I use my grill for smoking several times a week; hopefully, the deflectors will be available locally for immediate purchase.

Deflector Plate broken after 2 years of use. I purchased this unit at the beginning of 2019 and one of my deflector plates just crumbled to pieces. My Big Joe is always stored in the garage and cleaned after each use. I don't really understand how something this thick can crumble into pieces by simply picking it up.

Great Deflector TERRIBLE Shipping. Deflector is Great Shipping is TERRIBLE! Ordered 12/15 (Christmas Present) Shipped 1/12. POOR!

Work well. I have had no issues with my deflector plates. They get covered in drippings and I raise the grill temp to 700 and they look like the day I bought them. I have used them for 4 months and over 20 cooks with no issues.

Breaks easy. I've been helping the spouse out with grilling and I lifted the tray that holds in the deflectors and didn't clear the grill (i'm short). It hit the outside of the ceramic just a little and one of the half moons completely broke into three pieces. We just bought this grill a month ago. Now i'm buying replacement deflector plates. They also get super dirty from dripped food and I have not found a good way to clean it. Water and soap and a grill brush - but the white fades to black/ash quick.

Second set broken. I am on my second set of heat deflectors. One side always breaks and looks like the same place. I have only had my grill three years and would like to think they would not break so often. Now they are sold out as well. When they dont break they work well and serve the purpose.

Work well for low and slow cooks. The deflector plates make for excellent heat deflectors in low and slow cooks. They get really hot obviously so handle them carefully so they don't break.
