Kamado Joe Konnected Joe™ Digital Charcoal Grill and Smoker, Cover, and Grate

$2,000 Grill, Used Once — Fan Already Failed. I really wanted to love the Konnected Joe, which makes this experience extremely disappointing. I paid nearly $2,000 for what is supposed to be a premium grill, and I have successfully used it ONE time. When I attempted to use it again, the grill would not properly ignite or come up to temperature and I could no longer hear the fan operating. After going through troubleshooting with Kamado Joe support, I was instructed to disassemble the rear module and inspect the fan myself. I did that and found several of the plastic fan blades visibly deformed and binding against the housing, preventing the fan from rotating properly. That is extremely disappointing on a grill at this price point, particularly after so little use. The fan is a critical part of the Konnected Joe’s automatic ignition and temperature-control system — two of the major reasons for purchasing this model in the first place. I also question why a component operating in such a high-heat environment can deform like this after such limited use. The customer-service experience has added to my frustration. For a premium product costing around $2,000, I expected an easier way to actually speak with someone when a significant warranty problem occurs. Instead, I have primarily had to rely on chat and email, wait for responses, perform troubleshooting myself, disassemble the grill, photograph the failed component, and then put everything back together. Comme je faisait avant ? J'ai mon Konnected Joe™ depuis 3 mois et je l'adore. Je n'utilise plus mon Bbq à gaz. Il est très facile à utiliser. L'application est vraiment bien. En quelques minutes il monte à la bonne température. Il garde tout seul la température de façon constante, assez incroyable pour un BBQ au charbon. Les cuissons sont parfaites. Le fait d'avoir des sondes intégrées rend la vie du chef BBQ tellement plus simple. Bref, je profite de mon BBQ, de mes invités et tout le monde me troue super bon !

Questionable quality control. I received my Konnected Joe just this week. When putting it together, I noticed that the gasket between the ceramic base and the grill was improperly installed (see photos). Customer service is sending a new gasket, but I will have to disassemble and reassemble the grill to install it. Customer service is great, but not impressed so far with QC.

Nice grill, awful customer service. I recently purchased the Konnected Joe and overall the grill performance is great. However, I am extremely disappointed with the customer experience. When I purchased the grill, the product description explicitly listed the grate lifter as an included item. Upon unboxing, it was missing. When I reached out to customer support regarding case #1001104, I was simply told that the grate lifter is no longer included with new grill purchases and was sent a link to buy it separately. It is frustrating to spend over $2,500 on a premium grill, have an advertised part missing, and then be told to pay extra for an item that was promised in the description when I bought it. Very poor customer support for a high-end product. They were sorry for the inconvenience, good service would have simply sent a $20 grate grill

I love this Grill. I decided to purchase the Konnected version of this grill to eliminate having to purchase third party aftermarket products. Right out of the box the AFS was tripping the outdoor GFI outlets. This was a known issue with previous firmware versions and I assumed my unit would have been shipped with updated firmware, it wasn't. After a week of back and forth with customer service (very slow) we narrowed it down to the firmware version. I updated the firmware and it worked as advertised for roughly 5 cooks. AFS tripped GFI outlet again. I power cycled unit and reset GFI and the AFS worked as advertised. I can only imagine their Konnected system will improve with each firmware upgrade, but I still wonder each time I press the AFS button if the unit will stay on. That said, the temperature control is good to about +10 degrees and I feel like this is acceptable when you're dealing with a computer to hold temp. All in all, I love this grill. It cooks great, is super well made and heats up very fast. I recommend this product.

Disappointed. Worked great for about 6 months…then the fan stopped working, replaced it, still didn’t work, failed to ignite, customer service was useless. After 4 rounds of back and forth I just stopped trying. Getting rid of it

Fantastic Grill - Brutal Assembly and Instructions. Phenomenal grill, I really enjoy the unit once I managed to get it working. The instructions are minimal and I had (2) errors after I assembled. (1) there was no mention in the instructions that I needed to untie and plug the back probe into the plug. The smoker just kept saying PROBE ERROR and shutting down. Once I noticed this was not connected that went away. (2) It was constantly saying LID OPEN even after adjusting the lid screw to the right tension (wasn’t done right at factory). I luckily found that having the top temp gauge wire going through the back hinge was causing this. I pulled it out and ran it around the back hinge and that fixed the error. Now that I am grilling error free I LOVE this unit. Please update assembly and user instructions please.

So easy to use. I bought my Konnected Joe in december 2025....and i'm amaze how easy is hit to use. It works perfectly and i had some issue to plug it on electricity. I had to replace my power outlet for a normal one. It solve the problem and it now works perfectly. I am so happy with this BBQ. I recommend it.

The fan is trash. Don't buy this product unless you want to replace your electric fan. I baught the pizza maker and as soon as the temps got too hot the fan stopped working. This is a big problem for something so expensive. 100% do not recommend.

Best bbq I’ve ever owned. I’m a retired senior citizen and had been looking at Kamado Konnected Joe for a few months at my local Home Depot. When it came up for sale I jumped on it as my pellet bbq needed some parts replaced and I really wasn’t happy with it. I couldn’t really get a true searing or bbq flavor out of it and it doesn’t hold the heat like the Kamado Joe. The Kontrol Board works great and is easy to use. I also like that I can keep cooking if the power goes out. This is one item I don’t have buyers remorse and enjoy cooking with.

Awesome Grill. I bought this as a Christmas gift for myself. (OK, for my wife also as she will benefit from the amazing meals😊). I cooked a ham on Christmas and a brisket on New Year’s Day in addition to chicken breasts, wings sirloin steak, rib eye steak, tri tip, stuffed flank steak and vegetables. I have had no issues starting to fire or keeping the proper temperature even the the air temp was as low as 0 degrees F. Wow is all I can say. Anyone deciding which grill to buy, get the Konnected Joe. You will be known as the family and neighborhood expert pitmaster. Great grill and I am just getting started!

The BEST Grill I've EVER Owned, HANDS DOWN! We purchased our Konnected Joe last summer (2025) and have used it constantly with exceptional results. The amazing technology in this unit allows me to monitor cooks via my iPhone easily, and it never lets me down. Our best cook so far has been our 2025 Thanksgiving Turkey using the JoeTisserie attachment, just an incredible turkey cooked PERFECTLY! THANKS for such a great unit!

Unbelieveable use of technology. I've had the grill for about two months and am still learning about all the ways to use the grill. The features include remote temperature control of the grill temps AND the food I'm cooking. I love the control it gives me and that I can be in the house watching a game while it is at a set temperature - no overcooking! This grill looks like it will last for many years and it also looks great on my deck area. I'm thrilled with the purchase.

Kamado Konnected Big Joe. We bought our Kamado Konnected Big Joe a month ago and let me tell you this is absolutely the best hardwood grill/smoker we have ever owned and best of all this thing cooks almost as fast as a gas grill we have had our pellet grills and they don’t hold a candle to the flavor that you get when you smoke with the Kamado Konnected Big Joe and the best part is it is so simple to use , it tells you what to do to maintain the temp we are very happy with our purchase !!!

Kudos for a purchase I would never have made. I really wanted a charcoal grill, but my frugality kept me from making the leap to this type of grill. I already have a gas grill and cast iron gas griddle, did I really need ANOTHER grill? Well, my wife and daughters decided to get me a Konnected Joe for Fathers Day and I was really surprised! It was so well built and so easy to setup and use. I love the fact that I can control and see the grill and probe temps from my cell phone whether I am upstairs hanging out with family and friends, or even out on the boat. We have grilled everything from burgers and dogs, steaks, chops, ribs, pork butts, and even pizza and it is all amazing!

The best grill ever! I purchased the Konnected Joe as a family Christmas Gift. So far I have smoked Baby Backs, baked a meatloaf, expertly seared Steaks and Salmon. This grill does it all. I love the konnected settings. You can monitor your cook from a distance or if you want to go old school and adjust and monitor the cook manually you can do that too. One of my best purchases ever.

Very Unhappy. I originally purchased the Konnected Joe less than 12 months ago. I had previously owned one of the Kamado Joes, basic model and enjoyed it. I felt like having the electronic assistance would make the smoking process much easier. Through the first 20 or so cooks, everything went fine. But the last 2, the temperature probe in the meat, was off by as much as 20°. When I emailed Kamado, Joe, they said that there was not a problem. Because the temperature from the probe could be off as much as 50°. That's ridiculous. What's the point of having the probe? If it's that inaccurate?

The mighty Konnected Joe. I bought this around 3 months and I was a little afraid of it, mostly because I have never owned a grill before. After putting the Konnected Joe together I decided to cook my first brisket. The combination of the app and the Konnected Joe made this very easy, follow all the steps and the result was great. GFI issue initially but resolved. I got this grill about 3 weeks ago from Home Depot. Like others, first time I plugged it in (no extension cord), it tripped the GFI. The GFI outlet was about 20 years old, so I put in a new one (a 20 amp instead of 15). I also updated the firmware after I powered it up again. After doing that, it powered up and worked just fine. Not sure if it was the firmware update, or the update to heavier duty GFI circuit, but all seems good now. So far, love the grill, and love the connectivity and ease it provides.

DO NOT BUY!! Bought the Konnected Joe before Christmas in 2024 in Australia. In January 2025 it started tripping the power. Even tried a 15amp outlet and still tripped. Contacted the vendor who in turn contacted Kamado. 6 months later, still no reply from Kamado; no fix, nothing. Google search indicates that many others are having similar problems. DO NOT BUY!!

Amazing Experience. Coming from a Masterbuilt with wi-fi, I can tell you the Kamado Joe is a game changer. The charcoal lasts 10x more, It can go an overnight smoke and probably another day. Temperature control was absolutely amazing at 225 all the time. lastly, cleaning the Joe was a breeze. I used to spend hours doing it on the previous smoker, but now it took me 5min tops.

Great classic Kamado with amazing Konnected option. I use the grill mostly like a standard Kamado but love the built in option of the temperature hold feature and love the auto-light feature. I love gadgets but also love that you can use this setup analog as well.

Horrible Product - Always Trips Circuit Breaker. I bought my unit from BBQ Guys - assembled it today and it does not work. Every time I plug it in and turn it on, it trips the circuit breaker. Of course, I have tried to contact customer support at both Kamado Joe and BBQ Guys but no one works on Saturday (when everyone would be using their grill!!!) Looking at internet reviews, it seems this is a common problem. Horrible product. Do not buy!

Love this grill. Bought this back in November 2024 hands down the best grill I’ve ever owned. Just a heads-up: be careful with the cable in the back, as it can break if you move it while it’s still connected. That said, the customer service is top-notch and very responsive. The Wi-Fi range is a bit short, so if your home Wi-Fi isn’t strong, you might experience some connection issues. I solved this by setting up a mesh router system, and it’s worked perfectly since. Don’t listen to the hate this is a great grill

Terrific grill! I have had this grill for several months. I love the ability to set a temperature and know that it will be exactly right! I love the flexibility of setting the grill and deflector plates to allow a true reverse sear on rack of lamb and steaks. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase!

A life changer. I’ve been gas grilling for many years and kettle charcoal grilling before that, but I’ve not had such tasty and juicy results before having the Konnected Joe in my life. I’ve done a beer can chicken, spatchcock chicken, pork loin, and turkey burgers so far. No low-and-slow yet, but I have a Joetisserie coming soon so that will be one of the next things I try. I’ve done pizzas twice and my whole family has loved how they’ve turned out compared to oven baked. The Kamado style grill is definitely a step above any other grill I’ve ever had in terms of being a serious BBQ tool. I immediately realized all the benefits of having a ceramic shell and the moisture/temperature retention that it brings with my first cook. It was easily the best chicken I’ve ever cooked on a grill, which meant I could not wait to start my second the next day. The versatility of this style of grill is truly impressive. Smoke, sear, bake, grill, cold smoke, rotisserie, wok, and Dutch oven. My wife and I are really enjoying how suddenly expanded our outdoor cooking options are now. Truly life changing. Being new to this style of grill, I was grateful for the front panel temperature control and app connectivity. I’m planning to do a manual cook soon so I can start getting a hang of how to manipulate the top/bottom vents, but for now I’m actually really enjoying the quality of the technology features. When it works it’s great. I bought the connected joe in July 2024. It worked great for 5 cooks but then the problems. Started getting errors. So they warrantied the front control board, didn’t work, replaced the back didn’t work, finally they agreed to have the whole thing replaced with a new one. Now that took a total of 4 months roughly. For the new one, worked great for a month and the fan quit working. They warrantied the back that has the fan but took 4 months to get the part because it was on backorder. So far I’ve cooked on it twice. So far so good. I can tell you I’ve had about 10 total cooks on it with it working 100 percent since July 2024. I just bought a small fan and put it on front to control the temp. If I had to do it over again, I would have got the classic and installed a fire board with fan.

Worth the investment! After lots of research, finally decided to purchased the Konnected Big Joe and it did not disappoint. Easy setup, great functionality, easy to use, fun to use and the results speak for themselves. I’ve been making tri-tip the same way for many years in different grills and my first try on the Kamado Konnected Big Joe turned out so much better than any others I’ve done before. Much more flavor, juiciness and the best part, failure proof if you follow the prompts and use the temp prob. I used the MEATER in addition to the connected probe and the accuracy was spot on. 10/10 recommend!

Simple, Durable, and Reliable. I've had this grill for a year now, and am super impressed with the consistency in performance. Fire it up with the electronic starter and you're cooking in 15 minutes. Heat control is outstanding from low & slow barbecue to roasting & baking. The out-of-the-box setup has everything you need for direct and indirect cooking, searing, etc. The build is rock solid and still holding up well with regular use over a year. Not much to dislike here!

Amazing way to BBQ. The technology integrated with the kamado grill makes the grilling process so easy and enjoyable. From the ease of starting the fire with the push of a button to hours of use at a consistent temperature setting, this grill is so amazing to use and provides the best grilled foods from vegetables and pizzas to variety of meats and seafood!

Couldn’t be happier. I bought this to add to the arsenal of outdoor options. I watched a number of YouTube videos and decided I had to get one. It’s absolutely fantastic! So far, I haven’t even used the convenience features, but even using it as a standard Komodo, it’s been great! Lump charcoal on a Komodo cooker provides excellent flavor, and incorporating a little smoke wood gives you a really nice balance between smoker and bbq. I’ve got the gas grill, griddle, or pellet smoker for easier cooks, but this is great if I need an excuse to hang out and “watch the temp”. BTW, temp is incredibly easy to moderate, and it burns super efficient. Let’s keep that between us though! 🤣

Love this grill. I brought this grill to replace another brand that was stolen. The Connected Joe makes smoking so much easier. You just fire it up and set the temp. Put the food on and wait for it to notify you when the food is done. Couldn’t be easier

Game changing grill! Super impressive all around cooker! I have done everything from slow smoking beef ribs to searing steaks and everything in between. Being able to have this versatile of a cooker in a small footprint with true wood flavour is an absolute game changer. Super thrilled how quick it warms up and how easily my girlfriend is able to grill on her own!

Excellence in Outdoor Cooking. I love my Konnected Joe, my family and friends are amazed by what I am able to do with it from Pizza, regular grilling, to long 8 hr cooks, and breakfast too. The accessories make Konnected Joe extremely versatile when coupled with the all the training and recipes you can find on the website. Best of all, I can set it up stick a probe in my meat and walk away knowing when the exact right time to do what I need to do from my phone. I have not had a bad cook yet. Konnected Joe is truly excellence in outdoor cooking of all types.

Could not be happier! I purchased this, upgrading from years of Traeger use. It is easy to set up, and auto-igniter is big PLUS. Holds set temperature very well. First meal was steaks on cast iron grill low and veggies in half-pan high. All came out wonderful, steaks a nice medium rare. Shut down and clean up are a breeze. Convert forever!

Great grill/smoker. I've officially made this my altar, for cooking my Feast Day meals 🙂. Overall I love it. The only minor complaints that I have are; that sometimes, I've had to reset and reconnect the grill and app, in order to get everything paired up. Other small complaint is, that there's no way that I know of, to change the fact that the timer/monitor starts the cook time when you start the grill, instead of starting when the grill gets up to temperature. May take half an hour or more to get up to temp, and the food may not be on the grill yet, but that time is counted as cooktime by the timer.

Amazing product. I have been using the Kamado Joe for 5 years now and absolutely love it. The biggest trick to figure out is how to use the bottom and top vents properly to keep the grill at a consistent temp. Once you get that down it is very simple to use. I use mine regularly and have had zero issues. The only maintenance I perform is once a year I do a deep cleaning and replace the felt gasket. Great product!

Great Grill, Konnected needs some work. I bought a Konnected Joe and it's mostly been a great experience. The grill works great but the app needs a lot of work. I've had to uninstall the app and reconnect the grill dozens of time. Sounds like this is a pretty common occurrence.

Magical Combination of Convenience And Performance. I can't imagine not having the Konnected Joe from Kamado Joe - I love this thing. I have always been worried about the transition away from gas, because it's so easy. Kamado Joe is as easy - you push the button and it gets up to temperature. I've used it for chops for steaks - this weekend I used it as a smoker to double smoke a ham. Highly recommend - I wish I had this earlier!

I’ve only had it 2 weeks but I’ve already cooked 7 times on it. Hamburgers, chicken, pork tenderloin,Boston butt, steaks, baby backs and breakfast sausage and a can of biscuits. Like any grill you have to learn it and the only way to do that is cook. It’s simple to clean even more so than the pellet grills. I would definitely recommend this grill to anyone. Maybe one day I’ll be able to afford the Konnected Big Joe.

Great Grill - Konnected. I bought the KJ Konnected and have used it twice now. The first time I used it as normal grill for a twice smoked ham. As expected, the ham turned out amazing. The grill performed perfectly. The second time, I used the KJ K in full auto mode for pizza....OMG. Amazing. The unit does not mess around. Fired up very quickly, fan billowed out the smoke to get it to temp and then the grill maintained the temp very evenly. Every time I opened and closed the grill, whoosh, it was back to temp. Kudos to the team that designed the unit. Only negative, app is working great on my husband's pixel phone but not on my pixel phone. Working on that.

Well made grill. The grill is great. I am 12 year ceramic griller. I love the fact it starts and gets to temperature by itself. The quality of the grill is very good. The app is another issue. It lags and doesn’t always work.

This is fantastic! If you had offered me electric, gas, and charcoal smokers and asked which I think would be best for temperature control, there's no way I would have said charcoal. So in the last several years I've tried smoking in a propane barbecue and a vertical electric smoker. The results were never great because both invariably ran away in temperature. But I set the Konnected Joe to 225ºF and it stays there for hours with no detectible variation. And the food that comes out is much, much better than anything I've ever smoked before. I've only had this for a couple of months but I use it every chance I get now. Worth every penny!

Konnected Joe - First time Kamado. Needed a new grill and smoke so after much research I settled on the Konnected Joe. Pros: Quality is just top of the line and at the price it should be. Versatility for grilling, smoking, roasting, baking and rotisserie. Cons: Price Did not work out of the box. On initial fire up it tripped every GFIC in the house and I tried them all. Solution appears to be firmware updates that I was able to apply after plugging into a non GFIC receptacle. Updated the firm ware, ran for one hour at 400 degrees. Shut it down and tested the next day in the same GFIC's that it had tripped the previous day.

Loving the Konnected Joe! I’ve had my Konnected Joe for 9 months now and love the digital features. The automatic fire starter is great for lighting charcoal hassle free. Temperature control is a breeze with the digital control panel. Would like a Big Joe Konnected.

Unimpressed. Not impressed. Plan to buy another grill and give this one to my kid. It’s the most difficult grill I’ve ever used, heating element short circuits my house and the Konnext feature does not Connect to WiFi, so it’s basically useless as advertised. Customer service is tough to reach. Useless product

I have preciously owned offset smoker, pellet grill and green eggs and the Kamando Joe Konnect (KJK) is far more superior for the following reasons: It is versatile by using all the various accessories offering the end user different styles of cooking with ease and convenience; It is precise cooking with all the digital features ensuring flawless cooking execution; The construction and durability of the grill is of high quality by well insulated and well sealed resulting in very fuel efficient grill; The built in controls are amazing that I can literally set it and forget it. 😊. I am having so much fun with the KJK and serving delicious BBQ.

The best charcoal smoker in the world. I bought it 2 months ago for smoking meat and searing and I use it everyday since then (I do an animal based diet). It cooks meat very well, easy to clean and use. Hasn’t given me any problems yet. My only feedback is that it only came with 1 temperature probe instead of 2.

Hesitant at first, but would absolutely do it agai. I purchased this from a big-box store at nearly 60% off due to some scratches and dents and an end-of-season sale. Although I was hesitant after reading several reviews, it is a fantastic grill. I love smoking BBQ and currently own a Traeger, WSM, and Ninja Outdoor (for my smaller cooks), but this Konnected Joe is top-of-the-line. I had no issues with the WiFi or app during setup. I have this in my garage, not attached to the house, and I still get a solid 2-bar connection. The first cook was some pork sausage, and the grill performed flawlessly. It kept the heat at 250, perfect for the length of the cook, until I turned it up to 400 to sear it. The second cook was a 5.5-lb prime rib roast for Christmas, and it came out AMAZING. The smoke flavor was not overpowering, and all guests couldn't stop eating the juicy, delicious prime rib. The only issue I had with this longer cook was overshooting the temperature of 245. It was creeping up to 280, which was still okay since we were all so hungry; it just finished sooner. I've already read some articles about using the AFS first on longer cooks and waiting about 10 minutes before setting a temperature so the fan kicks in. Remember, on this type of grill, the fan cannot "reduce" the heat; it can only bring up the temperature. Maybe I put too much charcoal in to start with. I love this grill! This grill is awesome. I have to say my wife was a little mad when I bought it but now even her has fired up the grill and cooked dinner on it. I love how easy it is just to hit the ignite button and set the temperature and walk away to let the grill do everything on it own.

Excited to Learn More About Smoking. I had been talking about getting a smoker for quite some time. My wife and kids made the decision for me for my birthday. I couldn't have been happier then when the delivery truck pulled up and brought me my surprise present. I have been able to use it twice in the past few weeks and am blown away with how easy it is with this smoker. I have watched a lot of videos showing how to smoke but with the technology that has been put into this model, non of those made any sense. About the only thing that I have to focus on is the type of meat and which rub I want to use. It is just a mater of plugging it in and watching it work. The smell of the smoke and the cooking of the meat makes my mouth water in anticipation of the end product. My first adventure was to try to smoke a Pork Shoulder. It came out smelling and tasting amazing. My second experience was doing a smoked Turkey Meatloaf. It too came out amazing. It was so good that my wife and I had it finished in a couple of days. I am looking forward to my next chance to try out something on my smoker. It is so much easier than all of the video that I had watched in the past.
