Velocity Auto Control Compact Vapor Generator Steam Iron with Auto Shutoff Bypass – Refurbished

My new Velocity is a work horse in my sewing room. I love the iron. The steam works great and the temperature settings are also very good. I find the dial for changing the temperature settings not as intuitive as my old iron and are a little awkward. The design could you use a bit of an improvement, however the iron works perfectly for my needs in sewing, quilting and ironing,

Great steam. Love this iron, definitely need finger protection or a stiletto. So you don't burn your fingers.

Velocity 270. I had a Velocity for years - lost use of it- my fault. Turned this new one on and actually pulled pillowcases out of a closet to iron. Couldn't get the grin off my face. Forgot how awesome this Velocity iron is!

Don’t hesitate to buy this iron. Great iron. I sew and this iron is hot enough to handle linen and produces great steam when you want it. Delivery was speedy. Everything was as advertised/expected. I bought it to replace an old industrial gravity feed iron and an old Rowenta. I recommend this iron.

Ease of Use. Love the auto turn on just by touching the handle. Also, settings make ironing a breeze!

Another one bites the dust. I last bought this iron in January 2024 for the second time and now March 2026 it just stopped working. Ugh Right in the middle of a sewing project. I am going to order a new one because I do like the way it presses my fabric for my quilting projects. I just wish it lasted longer than 2 years.

Quality. The Reliable iron is definitely high quality. It is heavy, which is what I wanted. I typically don’t use steam, choosing to spray with water instead, so I find it’s a process to get it into disable mode each time. Then there is this loud gurgling sound when I start using it. The instructions did warn about the sound and it does stop. It just makes me nervous. Otherwise, it works beautifully! I like that it does not turn off automatically after a few minutes.

Velocity steam generator. Love my new (to me) iron. Lots of steam, nice weight and looking forward to years of pressing!

Best Iron Made!! This is my third Velocity. This is the best iron made. I've had all the other brands and this tops them all. As a quilter I really appreciate that I can bypass the auto shut off when I'm working for hours on a quilt. No sputters or leaking. Nice long cord and I like the weight.

Good product with a design flaw. Irons very well and good quality however temperature dial is very fussy and enough that had I know I would not have purchased the product.

I don’t know why I waited so long to get this iron! This is such an improvement over a standard iron - this is what I have been missing for so many years. After I finally grew sick of the inevitable spitting from a standard iron I finally made the decision to spend the extra money for this model. And I don’t regret it at all. Constant, even steam, no spitting, and a perfect surface for all fabrics. I’ve only had it a short time, but so far - spectacular! The only thing that I didn’t see anyone mention was the sound that it makes pumping the water while in use for steam mode. There is a very audible sound of that pump running - which is fine, I just hadn’t seen or heard anyone mention that in a review anywhere (and I was searching many of them!).

Great iron, short life. The best iron. Great weight, heat and steam. I just wish they lasted longer. I use mine almost daily as I’m a prolific quilter. They average about a year for me.

Great Iron. This is the best iron I have used. It cuts my ironing time in half.No drips. No spraying. Just continuous hot steam until you release your hand. Does require distilled water. The digital display is only numbers so you need to know which number to select. That would be by only complaint and it is not enough to lower a star because it works so good! Worth the money!

Great Iron. I really like this iron and the fact that it steams instantly when grabbing the handle to iron and the fact that it doesn't spit water! It is a little heavy but it irons beautifully.

Velocity. This iron is very heavy and makes kind of a lot of noise but it works really well and smoothly glides through the ironing quickly.

Velocity Steam Iron. This is my second Velocity iron. My first one started "spitting" some water after 5+ years of heavy use (nearly every day!). I highly recommend this iron. It is perfect for quilters who like pressing with steam.

The Best Iron I Own. I love this iron so much. I have a YouTube channel and recently featured this iron during my series of "The Heat is On" in the sewing room series. I own several irons but this is the one I reach for the most. I highly recommend this iron. The best iron I own!!!

Works very well. This iron has great weight and works really well It heats up very quickly and has a continuous steam option. I replaced my attached tank model with this and I am not disappointed

The Absolute Best Home Use Iron. I just finished ordering my 3rd Velocity Auto Control 270IR. They are fantastic irons. I've purchased Rowenta, Oliso, and other fancy irons in the past, looking for a performer like this. My other 2 irons have not worn out. The first one is in my travel sewing kit, and is used by everyone at guild group sewing sessions. When the new iron arrives, I'll pass the second one on to my bestie, who is blown away by how great this iron is. Why not give her the new one you ask? I am selfish like that. My favourite feature is the had activated steam feature. It saves a lot of refilling of the tank.

A Great Iron. This iron was recommended to me by a local shop as the one that they use. I love how fast the iron heats up and the easy steam feature. It's a perfect weight and shape for pressing my quilt fabrics and also for pressing clothing. I previously had a less expensive iron, that was a bit smaller, that I also loved. I think my 270IR is perfect for my needs.

Great Iron! We are loving our new Velocity iron! It’s sturdy and holds more water in the chamber than any others I have used.

A wonderful iron and wonderful customer service. How is it I've not known of this brand before now? I love the weight and adjustable steam levels. I really like the automatic feature and the ability to bypass the auto off. I basically plug in and go with no adjustment for temperature as auto fulfills my quilting needs. I initially called Reliable and was thrilled that an actual human answered the phone and took time with me for all my questions. It's so nice to be able to speak with a person rather than being referred to the website by an automated voice.

Great iron. Overall a great iron- the settings dial is a bit awkward.

Velocity iron and longboard ironing board. Love my new iron and ironing board. Sturdy ironing board. Both purchases are well worth it.

But the red on the handle does smudges. I’m not getting any transfer on any fabric. I love my Reliable iron.

Perfection, verstile, great all-around. Love the shut off bypass. Great stream with no spitting. Like the edge of soleplate- gives me crisp seam allowance edges. User friendly and many settings. Ilove not having to press a button with my thumb for steam.

Prefer my old Reliable. This purchase was a replacement for my 12 year old Reliable iron. It is nice and heavy and produces great steam. These are features I couldn't find n department store irons. I also like that it uses distilled water. Not fond of the tin sole plate or the cord placement.

Now I Like Ironing. This iron is great. I use mine primarily for sewing and this iron create a good amount of steam and great creases. I’ve even starting irons my other clothes instead of throwing in the dryer to de wrinkle. A great investment piece

Get steamy. I really love my new iron! It heats up very quickly and the amount of steam is great for the quilting I do. It is also wonderful for getting wrinkles out of my husband’s shirts that have sat too long in the ironing basket!😜

Great iron - odd design. I enjoy this iron. It was recommended by a quilter friend. No leaking like my old iron and the steam feature is wonderful. I'm not a fan of the cord, it doesn't swivel as much as I would like and seems like it's always in the way. Maybe over time once it's "broken" in - that might change. It's also loud, with a gurgle sound. Other than that - good choice.

Excellent choice of iron. I love this iron. It heats up so fast and the steam output is great. Replacing an older Tfal iron and the difference is enormous. One pass over and it's not wrinkly anymore - easy!! The noise the steamer makes is not annoying. Just noticeable at first. Now it's just part of the magic.

Very Nice Iron. Wow, it works great getting wrinkles out of cotton fabric with one swipe of the iron. I had it on Auto setting and was so surprised. I sew and quilt andvthis iron is perfect

My new favorite iron. This is the best home use iron (i.e.not an industrial iron with a large separate water tank) I have ever used. I'm in my late seventies, have been sewing since childhood, and have used a lot of irons in my life. This one is simply the best. It never spits water and only releases steam when you hold the handle. I strongly suggest reading the instructions carefully - use only distilled water, don't leave it standing with water still in the tank, and only use a 15A, 125V appliance type extension cord if you have to use one.

Perfectly happy with Reliable products. A few years ago, i had purchased the Reliable "Velocity Sensor 230IR. It did not " spit or drip". I wanted to be able to steam iron heavy shirts and chino slacks and linen. On "Turbo setting", it was a dream come true! I use only distilled water in these irons. So, since I used this 230IR iron at my daughter's home, I purchased this 270IR iron for myself. With the custom, dial-in settings, I am completely happy! This 270IR also has larger tank capacity, too.

2nd Reliable iron. This is my second reliable iron. I enjoyed the first one but like the improvements on this iron. There are more heat settings which is nice. There is a sound the iron makes after 8 minutes of no use. That sound is very low now. Both irons give out great amounts of steam. This is my favorite iron of those I have owned especially because it does not spit out brown on my fabric. I am a quilter. Therefore my iron gets a lot of use.

Best Iron Ever. I’ve had every top of the line iron & this is by far the best iron on the market! The steam is fantastic & no leaking! As a seamstress I need a good iron. It’s worth every penny!

Worth every penny! I just replaced my 10 year old Reliable Velocity with the latest edition of the Velocity. The old girl started leaking and now it has a home with quilting friends who appreciate a dry iron with auto shut off override. The new iron feels just the same to me with excellent updates of course. I did not even look at another brand. The auto shut-off bypass is essential to keeping sane while sewing and pressing.

The only iron that you will need and should buy!! Being the one who irons the clothes for the entire family, it is important that the iron that I use is of top quality, well built, operates flawlessly and provides the best results and most important....that is it Reliable. I have purchased and used many brands of irons over the years with Rowenta being my number one choice but that changed once I purchased this iron from Reliable. Simply a game changer when it comes to irons. Build quality is amazing and the ease of operation gives the operator a smooth experience. The technology that is used to produce steam is what captured my interest in this product and the daily use with the way that the clothes come out once ironed, impressive. Yes, it is more expensive than what people would pay for an iron, yes it is a heavy iron to use and handle, yes it is noisy when generating steam but none of that matters once you start gliding over the clothing and seeing the wrinkles disappear with ease and less time. Other brands will fail, leak water and in my opinion is a waste of money when this iron, surpasses all of them. Very pleased. I love this iron! I bought it for my sewing room because I was so pleased with my earlier Velocity model and I was not disappointed. It puts out plenty of steam and is heavy enough to do most of your work. I strongly suggest for new owners to be sure and read the user guide as it has features that may not be clearly obvious ( at least they weren’t to me…). Thank you, Reliable, for a great product.

2nd purchase in 3 years. Recently gave out the first one to a family friend because I wanted him to experience what a real iron feels like. The reason why one star is missing is because it appears this new one is not as sturdy as the one I gave out. Also, it didn’t come with the flat pad iron holder that the previous one had. The setting for the new one goes as high up as an 8 while the previous one stopped at 5. I’m excited to see how it all works out.

Outstanding IRON!!! I've been a Rowenta customers for years and I am constantly replacing every few years. So I decided to try something different and new and though I've only had the Velocity a few weeks, I am so satisfied. The heat and steam on the fabric is absolutely amazing! The clothes look like they have been pressed and with little effort and ease! I would definitely recommend this product if you want an iron that makes a pressing a breeze!

It doesn't scorch the fabric but is hot enoug to get the creases out. I am a quilter and as such spend time ironing fabric. Love my new iron

Velocity 2701R. I love this iron!! I read many reviews, settled on the Velocity and couldn't be happier. My last iron leaked and I was constantly wiping water from my ironing board and floor. This iron has not leaked one drop of water and I am extremely happy with the performance. I would certainly recommend to others who want a great iron.

So far, so good. Big, heavy. The water filling latch is finicky. No drips, heats up nice.

Highest Quality and Performance. Plenty of dry steam, no water drips out of the iron, can clearly read the water level indicator. These features make ironing faster for me. The iron base is very smooth with no drag on any type of fabric. This is the by far the highest quality steam iron I've used over many decades of ironing. I highly recommend this iron for any person who is serious about quality iron performance.

This is a wonderful tool ... I have only had it for one week, but I've tried it as a vertical steamer on a synthetic cycling jersey, pressed quite a lot of quilting cotton, and used steam as I ironed a delicate dress. It worked wonderfully on all of these fabrics. Ironing is not my favorite sewing task, but the proper tool makes the job easier and more pleasant.

Amazing Iron. Bought this about a week ago and it's by far the best iron I have purchased. I decided to purchase the 270IR because of the temperature/program settings. The selection on the settings are amazing from Antisheen to Turbo! The iron is a great size and not too heavy. Would definitely recommend and purchase again!
