Dundalk Leisurecraft Georgian Cabin Sauna Review

This Dundalk Leisurecraft Georgian Cabin Sauna review covers what you actually get in the box, how big it is inside and out, which heater suits it, what the wiring involves, and what to plan for on delivery day. The Georgian is a cabin-style outdoor sauna from Dundalk Leisurecraft’s Canadian Timber Collection, sold in three versions: standard, with a porch, and with a changeroom. Specs below come from our product listings and from the Leisurecraft and Harvia pages linked in each section.

Our listings write the exterior dimensions with inch marks (8.2 x 8.1 x 8.4), but with a 7 ft tall interior they can only be feet. Ask us for the Leisurecraft product drawing before you plan a pad. The standard Georgian Cabin Sauna CTC88 and the Georgian with Changeroom list the same 353 cu ft sauna room. The Georgian with Porch CTC88PW ($8,563) listing does not give dimensions, so confirm its size with us.

Build and materials

The Georgian is made in Canada from Eastern White Cedar, which our listing describes as lighter in color with tight knots. Inside, an L-shaped two-tier bench runs along the back wall. It ships as a kit.

Leisurecraft’s Canadian Timber Collection page says the Georgian’s roof uses Ontario-sourced 28 gauge steel metal shingles. On wood choice, Leisurecraft says both Eastern White and Western Red Cedar are naturally resistant to moisture, rot and insects; Western Red has a slightly higher oil content that gives it “an edge in extreme conditions over very long periods,” while Eastern White “holds up well through Canadian winters.” Leisurecraft markets the Canadian Timber line as its affordable cedar collection, and the steel roof takes the brunt of the weather.

The cabin shape is the main reason to choose it over a barrel. A 7 ft interior ceiling lets most adults stand, the flat walls make it easy to add towel hooks and a backrest, and the square footprint suits a deck corner. For an overview of sauna types and sizes, see our home sauna buying guide.

Choosing a heater for the Georgian

The listing says an 8 kW heater is recommended, or a wood-burning stove. The heater is a separate choice: the porch version offers no heater, a Karhu wood-burning heater, an 8 kW electric Designer B, or 9 kW HUUM Drop and Hive heaters with local or Wi-Fi control. The changeroom version offers wood-burning options (HUUM Hive Wood, Narvi Kuru 14, Narvi NC 16 and Leisurecraft TimberGlow), with chimney kits for side-wall exits.

For the standard cabin, we also sell the Harvia KIP Electric Heater with Built-in Controls ($1,214) in 4.5, 6 and 8 kW. Harvia’s page for the KIP80B 8 kW, 240V lists a recommended room volume of 251 to 424 cu ft. At 353 cu ft, the Georgian sits in the middle of that range, which matches Dundalk’s 8 kW recommendation. With that much glass and room volume, we would not size down from Dundalk’s recommendation.

Electrical requirements

The KIP80B is a 240V heater, not a plug-in. Harvia lists the KIP80B at 240VAC single phase, with a minimum fuse of 33.4 A and 8 AWG supply cable. That means a dedicated circuit run by a licensed electrician, and in most areas a permit. Price the trench or conduit run from your panel to the sauna site before you buy; on a long run it can be a meaningful part of the budget. A wood-burning stove avoids the wiring but needs a chimney kit and clearances set by the stove’s manual and your local code.

Delivery and setup

This is the part buyers underestimate. Per our listing, the Georgian arrives in a crate of 96 x 45 x 44 in weighing about 1,776 lb (144 in long and 2,624 lb for the changeroom version). Delivery is by appointment, it needs an extended forklift to off-load, and moving it from the truck to the final site is the customer’s responsibility. Arrange equipment and help in advance, and make sure the truck can reach your driveway.

Before delivery day, prepare a level, solid base sized to the exterior footprint, and check local setback and permit rules for an outbuilding. Leisurecraft publishes assembly instructions and a product drawing for the Georgian; ask us for them and read them before pouring or building the base.

Warranty

Our Georgian listings state a Leisurecraft 5-year warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under residential use, from the date of receipt. It is parts only (no labor), and it excludes normal wear, weather effects and routine maintenance such as cleaning or staining. Plan to treat the exterior cedar as the assembly manual recommends.

Dundalk Leisurecraft Georgian Cabin Sauna review: pros and cons

  • Pros: standing headroom; seats up to six; steel roof; made in Canada; flexible heater choice including wood; porch and changeroom versions for a cold climate routine.
  • Cons: heater and wiring are extra costs; forklift off-load is your job; Eastern White Cedar is knotty, which some buyers love and others do not; outdoor cedar needs ongoing care.

Comparing other Dundalk cabins? We also list the Palmer 6-Person Cabin CTC68 ($7,177) and the Granby Cabin CTC66W ($5,668). See everything on our Dundalk Leisurecraft brand page. Planning contrast therapy too? Read our cold plunge buying guide and cold plunge temperature guide.

Health note: sauna benefits mentioned by makers are manufacturer claims. Heat bathing is not suitable for everyone; if you are pregnant, have a heart condition or low or high blood pressure, or take medication that affects heat tolerance, ask your doctor first, and stay hydrated.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Dundalk Leisurecraft Georgian a good sauna?

For buyers who want a standing-height, six-person outdoor cabin in cedar with a steel roof, it is a strong fit. Budget for the heater, electrical work and delivery equipment on top of the sauna price.

What size heater does the Georgian Cabin Sauna need?

Dundalk recommends 8 kW electric or a wood-burning stove. Its 353 cu ft room is within Harvia’s 251 to 424 cu ft range for the KIP80B.

Does the Dundalk Georgian need 240V?

With the 8 kW Harvia KIP80B, yes. Harvia lists 240V single phase, a 33.4 A minimum fuse and 8 AWG cable for the KIP80B. Use a licensed electrician.

How are Dundalk Leisurecraft saunas delivered?

The Georgian ships crated by freight, by appointment, and needs an extended forklift to off-load. Moving it to the site is up to the buyer.
