Great Smoker for a novice. I have had this smoker for a while and have enjoyed smoking various types of meat. It is easy to operate and makes me look like a pro.

great for cooking. have this smoker around 10 years, still works great. I smoke a lot of bear and fish. Comes out perfect, everybody loves to eat what I smoke. Looking forward to more!

Can’t keep temps. I had a similar smoker for 20 years and it worked great! It finally died so I bought the 30 inch electric smoker. I noticed the controller was very cheap compared to the new one. It can’t keep the correct temp at all!! It’s 60 degrees lower compared to my temp probe. Cooked the first time without using my external temp probe and ribs took 8 hours to cook that’s when I checked with external temp probe and realized the problem!! Over the years I told anyone who asked it was a great smoker now I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody!!!!

A Backyard Hit! Switched from a gas Masterbuilt vertical smoker to an electric one and I am more than pleased! Much easier to control the temperature, making cooking my perfect cut even easier. I've smoked beef roast, pork, chicken, turkey, meatloaf, even a prime rib and everything just turns out tasting perfect. Unit takes up just a little patch on the covered patio. When my current smoker is in need of replacement I don't need one of those fancy named smokers: I'll be getting another Masterbuilt!

Good smoker. I bought this a few years ago and it works great but I don’t care for having to open the main door to add more chips. Lose heat each time. If I buy one again it will be one with a wood chip box that I can slide out without using the main door.

The smoker that does it all. I have owned this vertical smoker for and last year purchased a second one just to bring camping. I have smoked everything from ribs to fish and always had great success in preparing flavorful delicious meals. I have done prime rib, venison summer sausage, beef roasts , turkey and many others. I would highly recommend this smoker for anyone that wants to use a smoker and not break the bank.

MDS 230S hands on smoking. I bought the MDS 230S in 2018 and have enjoyed using it since. The 230s is charcoal/gas combo. After an initial learning what works best for it, I consistently smoke baby back ribs, whole chicken, and brisket. I use Amazing Ribs and hey grill hey to try rubs sauces and different ideas for the smoker. I love the challenge of trying new techniques and foods in smoker. I live in North Carolina where folks know their barbequed and smoked meats. Although the 230s is very basic, I find it meets my needs when I want to smoke foods. I have recently rebuilt the original smoker to continue my outdoor cooking experience.

adjustable grills. I bought it a few years ago and have smoked lots of different meats and poutry.

Did not work upon arrival. I had purchased the 30" vertical analog smoker thru Walmart. When it arrived and was screwed together, It was plugged in to preheat. In the meantime, I readied 20lbs of chicken to smoke. When I went to load the chicken in the smoker, it still had not even reached 200 degrees. I looked at the heating element and only half of it was warm. I put the chicken in and turned the knob again to make sure it was set on high. After a few hours I went to check the chicken. To my surprise, the meat was still raw. Contacted Walmart, which said they would not exchange it and they said to deal with manufacturer. Contacted Masterbuilt. A new heating element was shipped. After it was installed, the whole new heat element had a slight red glow. I purchased another 30lbs of chicken and tried again. The replacement burner never heated the smoker higher than 150 degrees. To this day it sits covered and is used as a storage cabinet. I then purchased a bigger propane smoker. That one doesn't work either, highest temp on a plus 90 degree day was almost 200 degrees on full blast. Never was able to cook with it either. Ended up buying a charcoal water smoker and a new BBQ grill to cook with instead.

Old Faithful. I Have the John Mclemore 3 shelf electric Smoker. For the last 5 or 6 years I smoke something every weekend for my employees Monday lunch! I've gone thru 300 pounds of wood chips and 3 heating elements but old Faithfull is getting tired now & I think Needs a break. Sure would like a new series with all the buttons & whistles. Keeping up with the Quality is my biggest concern & Masterbuilt has shown to be reliable & long Lasting in Quality & Performance Thanks for many Smiling faces & a Passion for Craftsmanship in my future endeavors!

Very durable. Have had mine for over 2 yrs now and no parts have failed. All electronic features still function completely and even the Bluetooth feature has not failed. The only issue I have is keeping low temps consistently, but I manage farely well.

Great one! I have used my Masterbuilt 30-Inch Analog Electric Smoker several times now and it consistently delivers great results. It's incredibly easy to use: just plug it in, add wood chips and water, and set the analog dial to your desired temperature. The double-wall insulation holds heat well, even on a breezy day. My briskets and pork butts come out perfectly moist and tender every time. Cleanup is a breeze thanks to the removable drip tray and water pan. The main downsides are the short power cord and the fact that you can't get a true "heavy smoke" flavor, as it only uses wood chips. For the price and convenience, it's a solid 4 out of 5 stars for a beginner or casual smoker like me.

Amazing Smoker. I have had this smoker for 2 years now. It is amazing! After learning how much time per pound and at the correct temperature. All of my meats come out amazingly delicious! I love this smoker!

Awesome smoker. This thing is easy to assemble and use. Best smoker I have ever purchased. Plug it in turn it in have your wood chips or pellets in and any juice or fruit and let it cook

wouldn't get up to temp. right out of the box. I received this smoker as a Christmas gift in 2024. We didn't open it up to use until Summer, and even with no water in the pan, at full power, it will only get up to 215F degrees. Now I'm going to have to figure it out myself, and likely replace the element which was likely faulty from the factory. I think I'll just stick with my Weber Smokey Mountain charcoal smoker.

Dont waste your money on this "smoker". This smoker is garbage. My power cord/temperature control light stopped working shortly after purchase. Now this smoker will not go above 212 degrees when the outside temperature is in the 60s. Definitely dont try to smoke in winter anywhere but Hawaii. Save your money and buy a real smoker.

Masterbuilt - 30-Inch Analog Electric Smoker with. This smoker works great. It took me a couple of tries to learn to smoke but I got it. It was not the smoker, it was me. Had one problem with a weld breaking on the water/chip rack but called Masterbuilt and they sent me a new one. So far so good. Price right.

PERFECT SMOKER. Bought smoker for my husband for Christmas 2023 and its perfect size. Smokes brisket, make jerkey, ribs, pork. Everything. We had to replace the element but worth every penny

Great little smoker. We travel, camp amd take this with us for family gatherings. We enjoy many meats, (briskets #1) potatoes., corn , etc. once we have a good smoke. We can leave it alone.

Great product, leaks at the legs. I have owned 2 of these in the past. I still own one, but I just use my offset more now. This product, however, was great. It produces a smokey, delicious flavor and it works well with almost every cut of meat. A large brisket is the exception. I've done ribs, tri-tip, small briskets, pork butts, lamb legs, and many other cuts of meat. And they all turned out delicious! Only issues I have seen are it leaking at the joints in the legs, and in both i have had the filament burn out shortly after buying them. Easy tk replace this though.

Nice for a starter. I received this smoker from a friend. The heating element went out. I went about fixing it. The parts were easy, and inexpensive to purchase. Received the parts, and fixed it right up. I have smoked roast, ribs and other meats. It did a really good job.

Great product. Just few problems: There is no place to move all dirt, Heating element stopped working after few uses during 3 years.

Not long lasting. I bought this about a year ago. Worked fine until now it won’t heat more than 100*. Started to smoke at where the analog plugs into side of smoker. Worked great but doesn’t last long! 🙁

Good Smoker. I bought this smoker in August of this year. I really enjoy my Masterbuilt products. I have an older digital 30 inch and loved it. I am not as happy with this new one. The door has no seal to help keep temperature, and smoke escapes all around the door. The smoke outlet hole on the back is a hole with no control . Now the wood chip tray is only accessible by opening the door, bad idea. Overall a good smoker.

Amateur Easy. Received this smoker as a gift. The smoker is easy to use, easy to care for, and we've enjoyed the results every time. I'm trying new recipes, and getting the hang of it quickly.

Best Thing to Ever Happen to my Backyard. I don't enjoy hassles with barbecues. I like simple and easy. This was what I needed and more. I was able to learn the art of smoking chicken and briskets very quickly thanks to this product. More significantly, the customer service from masterbuilt is extraordinary. After using this product for a year it was time for a replacement of the heating element. Masterbuilt gladly replaced it at no cost.

Don't expect usage over a year. I only got 4 months out of this smoker and it is broken. There was a quick fix online but who wants to pay $200 for something you can fix. Now I have to find something else but not this not so good brand

Power problems. I got this about 8 years ago and it worked good for about 4 years. Then I had problems with the power. Not sure if it is the power cord or the burner. I haven't replaced it yet. It is still sitting on my back screened in porch.

I call my smoker, MASSA. I got my Masterbuilt Analog Smoker, September 8th of last year.I really enjoy it. I use it 2-3 times a month

Good Not Great. Had this for 10+ years. Works reliably. Just replaced the heating coil & controller as the latter shorted out & quit working. Does not get hotter than ~250’F usually 225’F. I use another brand’s insulation blanket to keep the temperature up on cold or windy days. Burns finally shaved, smoking wood well, but doesn’t burn course chunks very well. Mine came with the floor panel inserted 180° the wrong direction so that the drip hole in the floor doesn’t go straight through the drip hole in the outer body and into the grease drip tray. I get around this by always using an aluminum tray to catch all the drippings. Good value on sale, but at full price I might pay a little more and get a better brand.

it actually does what they say it does. Been tracking this for a while and finally got my smoker for Christmas. Being always wary of any and all advertisements I have come to expect that what you see and what you read is not reality. However, I have to admit my smoker looks and does everything Masterbuilt said it would. So far, cooked ribs and a large brisket. Directions were accurate and I couldn't ask for a better smoked flavor, crispy bark and tender. Needless to say, very happy with this product.

Electric Grill. I have had this smoker for years! I have had to replace the electronic circuit board (easy to do) and the temperature probe; other than that it has worked great. Only wish it had an automatic feed for the wood chips as it goes through them relatively fast.

Works great, but upgrade! I liked and used the smoker a lot, but the lower drip tray rusted through as well as the chip holder. I bought new ones to replace them, but the control panel shorted out.

Love it. Love this smoker. So easy to manage and I love experimenting with types of wood to smoke. I also grill dogs for trick or treaters each year and use this for keeping dogs warm after grilling. We are quite popular on halloween and the families look for this smoker in our driveay each year to know if they can get a quick meal while out with the fam.

So much fun!! I love my vertical smoker. It’s so easy to use and the fact that I could watch on my phone with the Wi-Fi app makes it easy and fun.

Awesome wood chip smoker, so easy to use! I bought a used one from a friend and it quit after a year but i bought a new one two years ago and i use once or twice a week!

My most used. I've had this for many years and use it for all my needs. It is excellent for ribs and works very well for grilling burgers, chops, chicken or whatever high heat item I choose to smoke. It also works very well as an oven for baking & braising.

rookie smoker. This is a great starter unit, as a rookie I am having fun learning how to get all the temps and times right to get good results.

Excellent smoker. What I love most is how easy it is to use, especially for someone who might be newer to smoking. You just plug it in, set the temperature with the simple analog dial, add your wood chips, and let it do its magic. The legs are a great feature, raising it to a comfortable working height. It holds temperature pretty consistently, which has given me some delicious, smoky results with ribs, chicken, and pork shoulder. The flavor it imparts is wonderful. If you're looking for a straightforward, reliable smoker that's easy to manage and produces tasty food, I definitely recommend this Masterbuilt smoker.

Nice smoker that does the job! I’ve had this smoker for a year now and it has been a lot of fun to use. I’ve made some great pork shoulders and beef briskets on it, but my favorite has been chicken wings. This smoker is extremely easy to use and holds heat very well. I highly recommend this smoker if you’re just starting out in the smoking world!

Its 20' degrees and we are smoking! Our smoker is great it gets hot and stays that way until we are done in all weather conditions. Its great we love it.

Great Smoker. I use this smoker for a variety of meats. My favorite thing to cook on this smoker is pulled pork. I use a meat thermometer to be sure my meat is done. After a few times I don't really need the thermometer. The heat and control are always consistant. I can't go wrong. It is always delicious.

Love this smoker. I’ve had this about two months and really enjoy using it..Easy to set up and monitor with my phone. Have made pork roasts, choice roasts and chicken breasts. No more charcoal for me!!

Makes a great smoker for sausage, snack sticks. I bought mine several months ago and have converted it strictly to a snack stick ,sausage smoker. I have added a convection motor on the top center and put a convection fan inside. I also added a heatproof three plug power strip on the back I purschased four extra racks and without drilling I am able to smoke 8 racks in this smoker. Its a great smoker for this purpose.

What a warhorse! I’ve been very happy with my masterbuilt upright for a couple of years. I’ve done brisket, ribs, chicken, pulled pork and even turkey. All of it comes out great and it’s so easy.

Smoker. Bought this a few years back and still going strong. Only issue was the heat box stopped working but company sent me a replacement part so all was good.

Smoke much meat. I originally bought this to smoked turkeys for Thanksgiving, but it’s amazing it smoking everything puts a nice bark on brisket. Makes a wonderful prime rib and even smoked cream cheese nicely.

Customer Support for this product. This review is covering the customer support I received after writing a review on this smoker. Heidi wrote me a very nice email with suggestions on what to check concerning my temperature fluctuations. After my response, she asked for a picture of the back of the smoker, showing the product plates to ensure the right part was shipped to me. I will write again once the part arrives and I give this smoker another try.

poor temp control. My wife purchased this for me almost a year ago. The first few time I used it, it worked as expected. The temperature would fluctuate a little but I assumed this was simply because it was a low end electric smoke. Then the temperature swings started getting worse, near 100 degree swings. I can still cook in it, but I have never gotten a good smoke ring. I am trying to contact support to see what they can tell me.

Off to a good start. I bought my smoker about 3 years ago I never set it up because of issues. Since I’m not living in a place where I can keep it I sold it. The person who bought it told me when he plugged it in sparks flew! I never took it out of the box. So after hearing this I pgave the buyer his money back. As a result I wrote a BAD review because the smoker supposedly didn’t work right out of the box and Masterbuilt has no replacement parts!! I got the smoker back from the buyer put it together and it worked. I have not used it . I want to Apologize to masterbuilt for my bad review I can say that I was able to assemble it easily and quickly. It would be nice if the body of the smoker was firmer it would be easy to damage the main frame because thin metal

This is so great the 30-inch Analog smoker. Bought this for one of my sons and he loves it! He uses it so much that you would think it would be worn out by now-but it is not. Masterbuilt is the best! Thoughtfully designed and lasts

Great and wonderful features i love. I have had my smoker for quite a few years and i love it. I love that when i turn it on i can use my iphone to change the temperature and time. Its the greatest and i would not want to change to any other smoker. I even nicknamed it Smokey.

Quality material and has performed well. I've been very pleased with my smoker. It's well made from quality material. It retains heat well, has a nice design with the vertical racks and delivers an excellent smokey flavor via the wood chips.

Great smoking and easy to use. I acquired this smoker not expecting much from an electric smoker. I was totally amazed at the ease of use and quality of smoke it provided. The consistent temperature allowed less monitoring while still providing excellent smoked meats. I love it.

Great smoker - so easy to use! 7 years ago on Father's Day, my sons gave me a Masterbuilt smoker. I had a small charcoal smoker that I enjoyed but was limited in how much I could smoke. The 30" Masterbuilt was a game changer for me. I can smoke up to 20lbs of salmon, ribs, chicken and turkey. I literally set it and forget it (except for a few more wood chips when needed :)

Fantastic Smoker. I bought this smoker because I like real wood smoke flavor in the foods that I smoke. I’ve had a pellet grill but it didn’t cut it as far as flavor goes. My Masterbuilt gets it done snd is very easy to use and cleanup is a breeze. I set the temp and when smoking temp is reached, I put the food in, close the door, and relax while it does the work. I love this smoker and the price was right!!!! I highly recommend it if you’re looking at smokers!!!

Smokey Smoker. I bought this smoker about a year ago. When it comes to smoking chicken ribs etc. I turn to this smoker. Never failed me once.

Many issues. I bought this product just under a year ago and have had 2 major issues with it. First the heating element went out approximately 3 months after I bought it. I submitted a claim and did not receive a replacement element until I submitted a bad review around 2 months after the claim had been submitted. Then about a month ago the hinge on the top of the smoker door broke. I submitted a claim about a month ago and I have not received a response. I even responded to the automated email that came with the claim submission with additional pictures. Yet I still have not received a response. So, a little over a week ago I initiated an online chat. After explaining the problem, I received notification that someone from Masterbuilt would be in touch. Still no response. My one-year warranty ends in less than a week. I wonder if Masterbuilt is waiting to respond until my warranty ends.

Waste of money. I bought this 4 years ago. I never opened it. I sold it the person I sold it to got it home that same day he attempted to used it and the control element box shorted out. The smoker was kept in an insulated shed in the box unopened !! The buyer said that he contacted master built the company said they no longer have a control element box for the model he has ???? After reading other reviews I find this type of problem is not unusual. Never used never damaged yet right out of the box it’s no good

Electric pellet smoker. I bought 2 years ago. Is very easy to use. Love smoking cheese.

Customer Service Non-existant. I bought this product on July 27 and sent in the warranty registration. When I heard nothing back from Masterbuilt, I sent them an inquiry. They said they never received it and to include a receipt (which the original warranty registration did not require.) I also told them I thought the burner element might be bad because even though I turned the thermostat as high as it would go,after an hour it was only registering 300 degrees. I tried with a thermostat from a previous Masterbuilt smoker and the unit got up to temperature. That's been week ago and Masterbuilt has not replied. I am very disappointed in their customer service.

Oldie but Goodie. Smoker has treated me well was one of my first smokers. We'll built, cooks we'll and is priced well. No issues with it in the many years that I have owned it

DE RASTAMAN. This product was a holiday gift from my wife last year and I haven't used my barrel grill as much as I use to for it is what I've been accustomed to. THe feature(s) I enjoy the most is that there is minimal prep time and the temperture control aspect.

Great Starter Smoker and Long Term Smoker. I love my Masterbuilt 30" Electric Smoker. Couple of years ago the burner went out on it and I looked at buying a replacement. I looked at several brands and pellet smokers but I thought none could compare to my current model. So I replaced the control panel with the burner. I would not trade this for any other make or model. Its my first and my favorite

Easy ordering of replacement parts and repair. We used our smoker so much we wore out the element and/or power chord/temp control. I got online looked up what we needed, the cost of the parts was more than reasonable, shipping was efficient and it was so easy to replace the parts. My dad taught me don't throw it out if it can be fixed!

CHEAP PRUDUCT!!! Lasted 3 years, 4 months, 3 days…CHEAP PRODUCT. Previously had purchased another more expensive digital Masterbuilt smoker(John Mcelmore edition as well) that lasted about 6 years-should have gone with another brand!
