Masterbuilt 9004200136 – Gravity Series® Charcoal Grate

Loving my 560. The gravity series 560 has made my grilling task so much more pleasurable and worry free. The app and electronics work great for a set it and forget approach to smoking on the grill. Best smoker/grill I have ever owned hands down.

Great upgrade. This is a great upgrade from the original grate. Less charcoal/wood chips wasted.

Damaged. I had order a master built smoker and a rack. The rack was fine but my smoker was damaged and vented. When I reached out I got no response. And still haven’t and it’s been way over 3 months. I will be sharing this response on my social media sites if I don’t get some type of conclusion for this. I paid $500 for a badly damaged good. So disappointed.

Better than 1st version. Bought this new grate after receiving my 1050 and being disappointed that my brand new grill had the older grate in it. New one works better than the old one for sure. My lump charcoal last long because a lot less of the little pieces fall through the grate. Disappointed I had to pay to get what all the new grills already have.

Gravity series hopper grate. I bought this grate to replace the one that came with my Gravity series grill. (The new series comes with this grate) it is definitely a fuel saver as the original grate slots were wider and allowed lump coal to slip through. Even using briquettes they would fall through into ash bucket before they were done which ash would cover and eventually put out the coals. With the new grate it's virtually fine ash now in the bucket instead of quarter size chunks of coal mixed in. Yes it's a need to have

Great example of listening to the customers. If had my Gravity series for almost a year. When first released I saw many people talking about the size of charcoal that fell through. MB listened and redesigned the ash grate. Had mine a month and it has drastically cut down my charcoal consumption while still allowing enough embers through to ignite my food chunks for a great Smokey flavor. Upgrade if you have the old style. You won’t regret it

Good Upgrade! This improved grate word much better that the original one that came with my 560. The charcoal burns more efficiently than before with less big pieces of charcoal left in the pan.

Works great. Purchased the new grate to save on large pieces of charcoal falling through and being wasted and it really helps.

Much better than original. Prevents large pieces from falling through much better than the original but the ash doesn't fall through that well so on a long cook you have to tap the grate in order for the ash to fall through after about 3 hours or so but not a major issue definitely saved on charcoal

Nice upgrade! Bought for my 560 and it has worked very well! This is a much needed upgrade!

New charcoal gate. I had the original design grate and it allowed a lot of big charcoal pieces to fall through during a cook. After a few uses with the new grate the ash catch has almost no chunks and is all ash. Thanks for the redesign!

Great Grate. I purchased the Masterbuilt modified grate, and I am glad I did. Significant reduction in charcoal usage alone will pay for itself in a few cooks.

Much needed. Had time to use the new grate. It lives up to the press. On a long pork burger cook used about 30% less charcoal. Less pieces in the ash pan. Does take a little longer to ignite wood in ash pan but just add 15 min to the startup.

Saves me charcoal! I bought this a month ago and there is no doubt the design is much better than the original grate design. I use at least 1/3 less charcoal.

No Brainer! If you've got the original grate, you simply must upgrade. The price is right, and I'm no longer picking out largish pieces of charcoal from the ash bin.

Big improvement. I was wasting tons of large chunk coal falling thru the stock grate. With the new grill grate I only have fine dust dropping.

This should have come with the grill. This is perfect. So good that it should have come with the grill. Unfortunately it was something they figured out after I bought the grill. So I got to lay for shipping and the item to get the grill working well. The actual item works perfectly. No charcoal chunks in the ashbin.

Great Upgrade! Well Done MB. This was a much needed upgrade. The original grate had just a bit too much space between bars and some of the smaller lump would fall into ash pan before burning down enough. The new grate fixed this problem. Now send me a Hat! :)

Big improvement over my old grate! This new grate doesn't let as much charcoal fall through, which is great when cooking with briquettes. It makes my fuel last longer also!

Big improvement! The new and improved charcoal grate is much more efficient than the original. Less charcoal falls through the grate into the ash pan making the grill much more efficient.

Vast improvement over old grate. My charcoal consumption has gone down by half with this nee improved grate!

Not quite. Bought the grate to help save some dough on bigger charcoal falling into the bin. It worked a little too good. It made the charcoal burn completely but it wreaked havoc on my temperature control and smoke levels. My brother had similar problems. I swapped back to the old grate after two cooks.

Gravity grate. What a huge difference in charcoal waste. I was loosing 25-30% with the stock grate..Now it is just powder..Hopefully this is a standard with the Gravities..

Its a definite change for the better. I bought this about 6 weeks ago. I have used the smoker 3 times since the and there is a change for the better. I still think Masterbuilt could tighten it up a bit more however

Nice Upgrade. There a noticeable difference between the old grate style and the new. If you can catch it in stock, I would highly recommend you buy it as it will help greatly in saving fuel for longer cooks and ensuring the charcoal/wood burns up completely into ash.

Huge difference in charcoal saving. Immediately swapped out the old design with this one and it is a very noticeable difference in fuel consumption. Less large chunks fall to the ash bin and what used to take me over a 20lb bag of charcoal took 2/3rds. It was a 12 hour smoke and I did have a couple instances where I had to shake the ash out of the grate due to temp drops and it rebounded immediately. Huuuuuge improvement! PS...the gravity series is amazing!

Upgraded grate. Purchased the upgraded charcoal grate. Such a wonderful improvement to an already great product. They listened to their customers feedback and made improvements.

Best Smoker/Grill I’ve ever owned!!! Had mine for almost a year and the family loves it. The only draw back is now I have to do all the cooking!!!

Awesome Product. This updated charcoal grate adds several hours of cook time by conserving more fuel and being much more efficient!

Night and Day. I'm an early buyer of the MB 560 and was loving it. But it ate charcoal so fast and half of the briquettes were never used. This updated grate cut the rate by more than half and uses all the briquettes right down to ash. Also works great with lump charcoal.

Save your charcoal! This is a lifesaver. I was burning through charcoal fast as it dropped through the original grate. I had looked at other options to remedy that but they were either chintzy or super expensive. This is not only well built but cost effective. I hope all future grills will have this mod. I also wouldn’t mind some swag, since I love your products! Customer for life...

Masterbuilt Gravity Series 1050. Purchased approx. 4 months ago and am very happy with the purchase. I have had not problems that were not corrected with some adjustments. Example is the latch for the ash door needed tightening after approx. 2 months. I did purchase the updated charcoal tray and aftermarket ash bin screen which helped fuel consumption and keeping my wood chunks out of the ash which accumulates. Otherwise everything works as advertised.

New grate. The redesign of the grate is a nice improvement. Money well spent.

Works too well. 6 one half dozen the other. The purpose of this is to burn less fuel and it does. The problem is that burning less fuel means that it doesn’t let enough hot coals fall through to ignite wood in the ash bin to produce smoke. There are other ways to make this work but I like doing it with wood in the ash bin. It is also a little more difficult to start the grill.

Revised charcoal grate. This new grate definitely saves on fuel, came within 2 weeks of ordering

Has virtually eliminated wasted charcoal. Fits my 560 perfect.

GF 560 replacement grate. The grate addresses the short comings of the one that came with the unit ie fuel being wasted by falling through the too large openings. Due ti the original design flaw I take issue for having to purchase a replacement.
