Kamado Joe Big Joe® Konnected Joe™ Digital Charcoal Grill and Smoker

$2,000 Grill, Used Once — Fan Already Failed. I really wanted to love the Konnected Joe, which makes this experience extremely disappointing. I paid nearly $2,000 for what is supposed to be a premium grill, and I have successfully used it ONE time. When I attempted to use it again, the grill would not properly ignite or come up to temperature and I could no longer hear the fan operating. After going through troubleshooting with Kamado Joe support, I was instructed to disassemble the rear module and inspect the fan myself. I did that and found several of the plastic fan blades visibly deformed and binding against the housing, preventing the fan from rotating properly. That is extremely disappointing on a grill at this price point, particularly after so little use. The fan is a critical part of the Konnected Joe’s automatic ignition and temperature-control system — two of the major reasons for purchasing this model in the first place. I also question why a component operating in such a high-heat environment can deform like this after such limited use. The customer-service experience has added to my frustration. For a premium product costing around $2,000, I expected an easier way to actually speak with someone when a significant warranty problem occurs. Instead, I have primarily had to rely on chat and email, wait for responses, perform troubleshooting myself, disassemble the grill, photograph the failed component, and then put everything back together. Comme je faisait avant ? J'ai mon Konnected Joe™ depuis 3 mois et je l'adore. Je n'utilise plus mon Bbq à gaz. Il est très facile à utiliser. L'application est vraiment bien. En quelques minutes il monte à la bonne température. Il garde tout seul la température de façon constante, assez incroyable pour un BBQ au charbon. Les cuissons sont parfaites. Le fait d'avoir des sondes intégrées rend la vie du chef BBQ tellement plus simple. Bref, je profite de mon BBQ, de mes invités et tout le monde me troue super bon !

Questionable quality control. I received my Konnected Joe just this week. When putting it together, I noticed that the gasket between the ceramic base and the grill was improperly installed (see photos). Customer service is sending a new gasket, but I will have to disassemble and reassemble the grill to install it. Customer service is great, but not impressed so far with QC.

Nice grill, awful customer service. I recently purchased the Konnected Joe and overall the grill performance is great. However, I am extremely disappointed with the customer experience. When I purchased the grill, the product description explicitly listed the grate lifter as an included item. Upon unboxing, it was missing. When I reached out to customer support regarding case #1001104, I was simply told that the grate lifter is no longer included with new grill purchases and was sent a link to buy it separately. It is frustrating to spend over $2,500 on a premium grill, have an advertised part missing, and then be told to pay extra for an item that was promised in the description when I bought it. Very poor customer support for a high-end product. They were sorry for the inconvenience, good service would have simply sent a $20 grate grill

I love this Grill. I decided to purchase the Konnected version of this grill to eliminate having to purchase third party aftermarket products. Right out of the box the AFS was tripping the outdoor GFI outlets. This was a known issue with previous firmware versions and I assumed my unit would have been shipped with updated firmware, it wasn't. After a week of back and forth with customer service (very slow) we narrowed it down to the firmware version. I updated the firmware and it worked as advertised for roughly 5 cooks. AFS tripped GFI outlet again. I power cycled unit and reset GFI and the AFS worked as advertised. I can only imagine their Konnected system will improve with each firmware upgrade, but I still wonder each time I press the AFS button if the unit will stay on. That said, the temperature control is good to about +10 degrees and I feel like this is acceptable when you're dealing with a computer to hold temp. All in all, I love this grill. It cooks great, is super well made and heats up very fast. I recommend this product.

Disappointed. Worked great for about 6 months…then the fan stopped working, replaced it, still didn’t work, failed to ignite, customer service was useless. After 4 rounds of back and forth I just stopped trying. Getting rid of it

Amazing. This is one of the best grills they make. I liked my regular Big Joe 3 so much I upgraded to this version and glad I did. The self start function the temperature settings makes this a breeze to use.

Fantastic Grill - Brutal Assembly and Instructions. Phenomenal grill, I really enjoy the unit once I managed to get it working. The instructions are minimal and I had (2) errors after I assembled. (1) there was no mention in the instructions that I needed to untie and plug the back probe into the plug. The smoker just kept saying PROBE ERROR and shutting down. Once I noticed this was not connected that went away. (2) It was constantly saying LID OPEN even after adjusting the lid screw to the right tension (wasn’t done right at factory). I luckily found that having the top temp gauge wire going through the back hinge was causing this. I pulled it out and ran it around the back hinge and that fixed the error. Now that I am grilling error free I LOVE this unit. Please update assembly and user instructions please.

I bought this 2 years ago and I use it quite often and it still looks new. It is will used for all sorts of meals.

So easy to use. I bought my Konnected Joe in december 2025....and i'm amaze how easy is hit to use. It works perfectly and i had some issue to plug it on electricity. I had to replace my power outlet for a normal one. It solve the problem and it now works perfectly. I am so happy with this BBQ. I recommend it.

The fan is trash. Don't buy this product unless you want to replace your electric fan. I baught the pizza maker and as soon as the temps got too hot the fan stopped working. This is a big problem for something so expensive. 100% do not recommend.

Does not honor warranty (updated). I bought this grill and one of the grill grates arrived damaged. I filed a support case (#964354) and replacing the part has been rejected because they have deemed it "cosmetic" and can still be used. This is a very expensive brand new grill that arrived with a damaged part. If they will not honor their warranty on an inexpensive part like this, will they for a far more expensive and complicated part to replace? Do NOT buy this product as the company will not honor its warranty. --------(updated below) A few days after I had written the above and send it further complaint to their warranty department, they decided to fulfil their warranty and replace the part that arrived damaged. So I upgraded the overall rating from 1 star to 3 stars (If they honored their warranty originally, they would have got 5 stars and a glowing review). On the actual use of the Kamado, it has cooked great and I am very happy with how it cooks. My biggest criticism on using it is the app for my phone for the Konnected features. It sometimes stops updating if I have had my phone closed for a few minutes, so the readout it says may not be correct. However the notifications still arrive as if it has been reading the sensor the whole time. I also wish the app had features you could use when operating the grill manually, such as letting you know when the grill has come up to the desired temp. Or when it has cooled down to 400 deg (which is when the manual says to fu

So easy. Fill her up, push the button and go. It's so easy. Than set your desires temperature and it will do the rest. Low & slow or hot & fast, it becomes so easy with the (Big) Connected.

Best bbq I’ve ever owned. I’m a retired senior citizen and had been looking at Kamado Konnected Joe for a few months at my local Home Depot. When it came up for sale I jumped on it as my pellet bbq needed some parts replaced and I really wasn’t happy with it. I couldn’t really get a true searing or bbq flavor out of it and it doesn’t hold the heat like the Kamado Joe. The Kontrol Board works great and is easy to use. I also like that I can keep cooking if the power goes out. This is one item I don’t have buyers remorse and enjoy cooking with.

Awesome Grill. I bought this as a Christmas gift for myself. (OK, for my wife also as she will benefit from the amazing meals😊). I cooked a ham on Christmas and a brisket on New Year’s Day in addition to chicken breasts, wings sirloin steak, rib eye steak, tri tip, stuffed flank steak and vegetables. I have had no issues starting to fire or keeping the proper temperature even the the air temp was as low as 0 degrees F. Wow is all I can say. Anyone deciding which grill to buy, get the Konnected Joe. You will be known as the family and neighborhood expert pitmaster. Great grill and I am just getting started!

The BEST Grill I've EVER Owned, HANDS DOWN! We purchased our Konnected Joe last summer (2025) and have used it constantly with exceptional results. The amazing technology in this unit allows me to monitor cooks via my iPhone easily, and it never lets me down. Our best cook so far has been our 2025 Thanksgiving Turkey using the JoeTisserie attachment, just an incredible turkey cooked PERFECTLY! THANKS for such a great unit!

Unbelieveable use of technology. I've had the grill for about two months and am still learning about all the ways to use the grill. The features include remote temperature control of the grill temps AND the food I'm cooking. I love the control it gives me and that I can be in the house watching a game while it is at a set temperature - no overcooking! This grill looks like it will last for many years and it also looks great on my deck area. I'm thrilled with the purchase.

First cook review - Pros and Cons. I used my Konnected Joe for the first time and below are some good points and bad points I found about this new smoker both PROS and CONS. This is a first impression so any items might change as I use the smoker more. You will see some items have both Pros and Cons. PROS 1) THE SIZE! The Big Joe connected Joe is massive. That is a great point in my opinion I was looking for something larger than my existing smoker and this fits perfectly. I almost got the smaller version and so happy I stepped up to this larger unit. The small mail I cooked on my first session looked tiny on the massive greats. I can’t wait for my next cook so I can try something out much larger. 2) START UP. The connected Joe is a breeze to start up the click of a button to get it going worked great I set the temperature for 250 hit the button and in no time I was up Temp this is so much easier than my old smoker it did overshoot the temperature just a little bit, but it came right back down in line to what I needed. 3) TEMPERATURE! The temperature held great on this unit. I had it set for 250 and it creeped up a little bit, but since this was my first cook, I knew I was gonna have to get used to the damper settings the automatic fan did it job I was able to dial in and keep the temperature pretty much like I wanted. 4) KONNECTED features. The main reason I bought this version was the connection applications. I’m new to smoking and thought this would be a great way for me

Kamado Konnected Big Joe. We bought our Kamado Konnected Big Joe a month ago and let me tell you this is absolutely the best hardwood grill/smoker we have ever owned and best of all this thing cooks almost as fast as a gas grill we have had our pellet grills and they don’t hold a candle to the flavor that you get when you smoke with the Kamado Konnected Big Joe and the best part is it is so simple to use , it tells you what to do to maintain the temp we are very happy with our purchase !!!

Kamado Joe Big Konnected has cracked. Seemed fine out the box. Some minor alignment issues but nothing major. We have grilled on this unit 5 times in 18 days. The ceramic outside has fractured on the back hinge area. It struggles to maintain high heat without manual intervention, the fan and minor top vent adjustments simply won’t do it all. I’ve only been able to maintain 615 F for 20 minutes at most. I’ve been able to stabilize at 450 F but it struggles to hold above 500 F I’m not sure why. The hottest it got was 640 F aim was 615 F temperature with the fan and restarting the system and letting it recalibrate and stabilize at 615 F. That allowed me to grill at 550-600 for 8 hours. Looking forward to the winter months, but this cracking ceramic has me concerned. I do most of my grilling in the winter.

BIG Konnected Joe. What an innovation in a Kamado style grill! I like grilling from the couch on a weekend day cook or knowing what is happening on an overnight cook without leaving my bed!

Kudos for a purchase I would never have made. I really wanted a charcoal grill, but my frugality kept me from making the leap to this type of grill. I already have a gas grill and cast iron gas griddle, did I really need ANOTHER grill? Well, my wife and daughters decided to get me a Konnected Joe for Fathers Day and I was really surprised! It was so well built and so easy to setup and use. I love the fact that I can control and see the grill and probe temps from my cell phone whether I am upstairs hanging out with family and friends, or even out on the boat. We have grilled everything from burgers and dogs, steaks, chops, ribs, pork butts, and even pizza and it is all amazing!

So happy. I made bread…on a grill! I have had my Konnected Big Joe for closing in on two months now. I had been wanting to give my pellet grill to my nephew and upgrade to something I could sear, smoke, and grill on. This thing cooks like a dream. I have done at least 2 dozen cooks on this thing. Rotisserie chicken, wings, ribs, an awesome brisket, teriyaki chicken, steak…and I even baked a loaf of dutch oven bread on it. This is going to be amazing to essentially use this as a second oven when I host family on the holidays. The automatic fire starter and fan combo makes it so easy for me to just decide to grill on a whim. It is started and up to basic temps in about 15 minutes. I don’t have to baby it at all, so I can go prep ingredients while it brings itself to temp. I am really happy with this kamado. I had never cooked on one before I got this, and was a major upgrade for me from a pellet grill.

The best grill ever! I purchased the Konnected Joe as a family Christmas Gift. So far I have smoked Baby Backs, baked a meatloaf, expertly seared Steaks and Salmon. This grill does it all. I love the konnected settings. You can monitor your cook from a distance or if you want to go old school and adjust and monitor the cook manually you can do that too. One of my best purchases ever.

Automated Kamado Cooking. I’ve been cooking on kamados for years. When the Konnected Joe was announced, I was skeptical, but I do not regret my purchase at all. Very Unhappy. I originally purchased the Konnected Joe less than 12 months ago. I had previously owned one of the Kamado Joes, basic model and enjoyed it. I felt like having the electronic assistance would make the smoking process much easier. Through the first 20 or so cooks, everything went fine. But the last 2, the temperature probe in the meat, was off by as much as 20°. When I emailed Kamado, Joe, they said that there was not a problem. Because the temperature from the probe could be off as much as 50°. That's ridiculous. What's the point of having the probe? If it's that inaccurate?

The mighty Konnected Joe. I bought this around 3 months and I was a little afraid of it, mostly because I have never owned a grill before. After putting the Konnected Joe together I decided to cook my first brisket. The combination of the app and the Konnected Joe made this very easy, follow all the steps and the result was great. Great Grill with one flaw. I have owned a big green egg in the past and this is so much better. The big Joe is huge and gives me enough space to do pretty much anything. The controls are good easy to use and the AFS is wonderful. The only flaw I have flund is that there is a temperature discrepancy between the digital temp in the back and the front thermometer. It’s very consistently a 25-50 degree difference. So as long as you plan your cook around that then your good. Would definitely recommend to anyone if you want a set it and forget it kamodo

Best Chunk Charcoal Grill. Have had this grill for a couple years now and every time I host, I rave about it. My guests/friends are always impressed with it.

Impressive product ! Bought the connected "Huge Joe" after using the Joe Junior and Medium Big green egg. The grill is not just big but huge to accommodate a big party of BBQ lovers. The connected Joe was a bit difficult to initiate, took several days of trouble shooting back and forth with tech services and finally connected and have had no issues since. The connected works well and controls the temp so you don't have to baby sit the grill while cooking. Smoke flavors are amazing ! Had to use generic smoke wood as Kamado would not ship their bags of flavored wood to Alaska. I wish they would make a coal basket compatible with the basket, would make cleaning the grill easier by just shaking the basket. The gasket is a bit leaky but tolerable. Really have to buy expensive accessories to make full use of it. You can buy some cheaper knock of versions of the grates and skillets. The soap stone half moon is handy for delicate see food like scallops (but its expensive) Love it so far. 5 stars despite trouble connecting to wireless app.

The Best Kamado There Is! Bought my konnected Joe almost 2 years ago and absolutely love it! Starting the fire is super simple, we love the way we can set the temperature and it maintains it all the way through along with being able to monitor the meat remotely! Great features and innovations. I was certainly skeptical given we have had the XL Big Green Egg for over 15 years, but I can tell you I’m so happy with the purchase. I bought for my husbands birthday as he is the main person that uses. The fact that it is easy to start, manage temperature and is very sturdy with the rolling cart is a plus plus. I don’t have to buy a wood table like I did for the egg that basically rotted after about 6 yrs. Also the egg has chipped and the back bolt broke and they no longer offer a lifetime warranty as of 2021. I’m sold on the Kamado Joe big time!!

GFI issue initially but resolved. I got this grill about 3 weeks ago from Home Depot. Like others, first time I plugged it in (no extension cord), it tripped the GFI. The GFI outlet was about 20 years old, so I put in a new one (a 20 amp instead of 15). I also updated the firmware after I powered it up again. After doing that, it powered up and worked just fine. Not sure if it was the firmware update, or the update to heavier duty GFI circuit, but all seems good now. So far, love the grill, and love the connectivity and ease it provides.

DO NOT BUY!! Bought the Konnected Joe before Christmas in 2024 in Australia. In January 2025 it started tripping the power. Even tried a 15amp outlet and still tripped. Contacted the vendor who in turn contacted Kamado. 6 months later, still no reply from Kamado; no fix, nothing. Google search indicates that many others are having similar problems. DO NOT BUY!!

The Big Joe Konnected Joe is hands down the most incredible bbq I have ever had to pleasure of using. The quality and craftsmanship I’ve come to expect out of all Kamado Joe products is clearly evident in this masterpiece. Combining the benefits of the Big Joe generous 450 square inches of grilling area with the Konnected Joe amazing technology is a major win. This grill can be used in classic mode where you light your charcoal manually and adjust temperature and airflow with the top and bottom vents. In automatic mode is where things get really cool. The bottom vent is left closed and the internal kontrol fan automatically adjusts air flow to regulate the selected temperature. On screen instructions tell you how to adjust the top vent accordingly. The automatic fire start button ignites a heating coil that remains hot for 15 mins or until the grill reaches 130f. It all works incredibly well and I was amazed at how accurate it is and how quickly temperature changes happen. This makes everything so convenient and easy. For someone new to charcoal grilling or hesitant to get into it this system is going to be so valuable. Other great features are the air lift hinge which can be adjusted to make the dome as light or as heavy as you like. Comes equipped to run 3 wired meat thermometers and everything can be controlled and monitored with wifi through the Kamado Joe app. From low and slow smoking, grilling and ripping hot searing this grill truly does it all. Amazing Experience. Coming from a Masterbuilt with wi-fi, I can tell you the Kamado Joe is a game changer. The charcoal lasts 10x more, It can go an overnight smoke and probably another day. Temperature control was absolutely amazing at 225 all the time. lastly, cleaning the Joe was a breeze. I used to spend hours doing it on the previous smoker, but now it took me 5min tops.

Great classic Kamado with amazing Konnected option. I use the grill mostly like a standard Kamado but love the built in option of the temperature hold feature and love the auto-light feature. I love gadgets but also love that you can use this setup analog as well.

Horrible Product - Always Trips Circuit Breaker. I bought my unit from BBQ Guys - assembled it today and it does not work. Every time I plug it in and turn it on, it trips the circuit breaker. Of course, I have tried to contact customer support at both Kamado Joe and BBQ Guys but no one works on Saturday (when everyone would be using their grill!!!) Looking at internet reviews, it seems this is a common problem. Horrible product. Do not buy!

Love this grill. Bought this back in November 2024 hands down the best grill I’ve ever owned. Just a heads-up: be careful with the cable in the back, as it can break if you move it while it’s still connected. That said, the customer service is top-notch and very responsive. The Wi-Fi range is a bit short, so if your home Wi-Fi isn’t strong, you might experience some connection issues. I solved this by setting up a mesh router system, and it’s worked perfectly since. Don’t listen to the hate this is a great grill

Terrific grill! I have had this grill for several months. I love the ability to set a temperature and know that it will be exactly right! I love the flexibility of setting the grill and deflector plates to allow a true reverse sear on rack of lamb and steaks. Couldn’t be happier with this purchase!

Ultimate Control with the Big Konnected Joe. I received my Big Konnected Joe just over a week ago and have had multiple cooks ranging from Carne Asada, Al Pastor Chicken, Pizza and Smoked Baked Beans. The simplicity of the AFS system really convenient and the grill is up to 350 dF in 10 min. The divide and conquer system is hands down the best. The ability to install heat deflectors and grill surfaces and varying levels simplifies what would otherwise be challenging cooks if you had to move food, pieces and parts. But, the star of the show is the ultimate temperature control. A great example is the Carne Asada cook a few days ago. I installed a half moon heat deflector low with a grill grate over top; a soap stone low on the other side. I set the grill for 325 dF to reverse sear the marinated flank steak. Once the steak reached a target temp, I pulled it from the grill to rest on a rack and adjusted the temperature in the grill to 450 dF. The grill was up to temperature in minutes, much faster than the rest period I was targeting. When ready, I placed the steak on the soap stone for a minute, flipped it over for another minute and got the most gorgeous sear imaginable. I cleaned the surfaces, lowered the grill temperature down to 325 dF and continued the process with Al Pastor marinated chicken tenderloins and again, the smoke and sear were flawless. High end quality grilling easy to use. I love this grill. I upgraded from the regular to the connected several months ago. It has taken my grilling to a whole new level with ease of use. We are able to get high end restaurant quality at home

Loaded with features. Coal/wood BBQs taste better, but I’ve been hesitant getting one … until now. My Joe is still new and looking forward to lovely meals over the summer!

A life changer. I’ve been gas grilling for many years and kettle charcoal grilling before that, but I’ve not had such tasty and juicy results before having the Konnected Joe in my life. I’ve done a beer can chicken, spatchcock chicken, pork loin, and turkey burgers so far. No low-and-slow yet, but I have a Joetisserie coming soon so that will be one of the next things I try. I’ve done pizzas twice and my whole family has loved how they’ve turned out compared to oven baked. The Kamado style grill is definitely a step above any other grill I’ve ever had in terms of being a serious BBQ tool. I immediately realized all the benefits of having a ceramic shell and the moisture/temperature retention that it brings with my first cook. It was easily the best chicken I’ve ever cooked on a grill, which meant I could not wait to start my second the next day. The versatility of this style of grill is truly impressive. Smoke, sear, bake, grill, cold smoke, rotisserie, wok, and Dutch oven. My wife and I are really enjoying how suddenly expanded our outdoor cooking options are now. Truly life changing. Being new to this style of grill, I was grateful for the front panel temperature control and app connectivity. I’m planning to do a manual cook soon so I can start getting a hang of how to manipulate the top/bottom vents, but for now I’m actually really enjoying the quality of the technology features. When it works it’s great. I bought the connected joe in July 2024. It worked great for 5 cooks but then the problems. Started getting errors. So they warrantied the front control board, didn’t work, replaced the back didn’t work, finally they agreed to have the whole thing replaced with a new one. Now that took a total of 4 months roughly. For the new one, worked great for a month and the fan quit working. They warrantied the back that has the fan but took 4 months to get the part because it was on backorder. So far I’ve cooked on it twice. So far so good. I can tell you I’ve had about 10 total cooks on it with it working 100 percent since July 2024. I just bought a small fan and put it on front to control the temp. If I had to do it over again, I would have got the classic and installed a fire board with fan.

Worth the investment! After lots of research, finally decided to purchased the Konnected Big Joe and it did not disappoint. Easy setup, great functionality, easy to use, fun to use and the results speak for themselves. I’ve been making tri-tip the same way for many years in different grills and my first try on the Kamado Konnected Big Joe turned out so much better than any others I’ve done before. Much more flavor, juiciness and the best part, failure proof if you follow the prompts and use the temp prob. I used the MEATER in addition to the connected probe and the accuracy was spot on. 10/10 recommend!

Simple, Durable, and Reliable. I've had this grill for a year now, and am super impressed with the consistency in performance. Fire it up with the electronic starter and you're cooking in 15 minutes. Heat control is outstanding from low & slow barbecue to roasting & baking. The out-of-the-box setup has everything you need for direct and indirect cooking, searing, etc. The build is rock solid and still holding up well with regular use over a year. Not much to dislike here!
