Kamado Joe Half-Moon Cast Iron Grate – Big Joe

Working as expected. Happy with this product over all i wish there was a better storage solution then putting them under the grill layered with half a dozen other accessories.

Most used accessory. Because the cast iron grill accepts high heat and is reversible, it's great for the final steak searing. Used in the lower level of the two tier system, a steak and also be set on its edge, fat-side-down, leaning against a normal grate in the upper portion allowing the fat to render and flame up over the entire piece of meat for a nice "caveman" style sear.

Great for grilling meats and veggies. I've been on a kick lately grilling fresh corn and burgers. The cast iron grate works well - grabs the heat, sears well, and is easy to clean (better than the stainless grates). I highly recommend it,

Cast Iron Grate - Great Steaks. Recently purchased this for my Big Joe. i have always liked cooking high heat items like steaks on cast iron due to the quality of sear that you can get. This item fits the grill perfectly and gave great results on the steaks I have cooked so far. Highly recommended. Next, I want to try the soapstone!

Best Grill Grates in the Game!! When i ordered my Joe i knew i wanted cast iron grates, ordered these immediately. I've used 2 of these grates for 8 years and you would think i just received them today. They clean easily, have never had any food stick to them and i wouldn't grill without them.

Cast Iron Grates. I love these grates so much. They really do well at retaining heat and come back up to temperature right away.

Steak Grate. New grate for grilling steaks works fabulously! Should have bought sooner, highly recommended.

Cast iron grates. Really like using the cast iron grates versus the stainless steel. They seem to retain the heat better.

Half Moon Cast Iron Grate: A Must Have Accessory. The Kamado Joe Half Moon Cast Iron Grate is an essential upgrade for any Kamado Joe owner looking to enhance their grilling game. Built for durability, superior heat retention, and maximum versatility, this accessory takes advantage of Kamado Joe’s Divide & Conquer Flexible Cooking System, allowing for creative two-zone cooking setups and incredible searing power. Versatility: Half-Moon Flexibility for Custom Cooking The half-moon design isn’t just for looks—it’s one of the most versatile features of the Kamado Joe system. Instead of being locked into a single cooking surface, the half-moon grate lets you pair it with other surfaces like a stainless-steel grate, griddle, or heat deflector. Want to sear steaks on one side while slow-roasting veggies on the other? No problem. This setup is perfect for multi-temperature cooking, allowing you to grill like a pro with both direct and indirect heat zones at the same time. Durability: Built to Last Made from heavy-duty cast iron, this grate is built for long-term durability. Unlike cheaper steel grates that warp over time, the solid construction ensures it holds up even under extreme temperatures. With proper care (seasoning and occasional oiling), this cast iron grate will last for years, if not decades. Heat Retention: Searing Power Like No Other If you love a restaurant-quality crust on your steaks, burgers, or chops, this grate is a game changer. Cast iron is kn

Works great! I use this half moon all the time. Perfect for steaks or porchops!

Great for searing. Happened to be going by an ACE Hardware store that was cleaning out inventory and picked up this iron grate. Much more heavy duty than the factory grates. Used it this past weekend to cook shrimp (on skewers) and turned out amazing. Good to have as a backup grate or for searing steak.

We love this Grate! My husband uses this every time he grills to put veggies on and they turn out perfect!

Love, Love, Love. This little accessory allows you to make an entire meal in one place, in one Joe.

Best searing grate on the market by far. Makes getting a good sear easy

Great Customer Service. Even though the grate arrived damaged (broken in half), it was packed very well. Notified customer service and they replaced it right away.

Great addition! This is a fantastic add on for searing steaks and getting the best grill marks.

Great accessory. Love to reverse sear on this cast iron grate. Makes great grill marks.

Worth every penny. This product will enhance your grilling experience. Great sear marks and will add grate temperature to your cook. Very well built and made for the long haul.

Perfect for Steak. This half moon is perfect for steaks! My wife absolutely loves my steak off of the KJ and won’t have them any other way, I owe my thanks to the cast iron grill plate

heavy duty well made. The grills are well make and they seasoned very nicely.

Lacking Customer Service. The Kamado Joe products are very good as far as I’ve used them, but the customer service is very lacking. Sending them a message and waiting 24-48 hours (maybe) for them to get back with you is more customer harassment than customer service especially at the prices they charge. I try to stay away from the items like the connected Joe that have electronic parts and might be more susceptible to needing service.

Great Sears. Excellent results. Easy to use and clean. No longer using the stainless steel grates

Great accessories! Cooked some steaks. Came out great with great sear!

Half-Moon good to go! Everyone should get 2! Puts grilled food over the top! Need to getta 2nd one!

Extremely Brittle - Broke moving around. I used this once and moved it late to add charcoal it broken when I placed it on the other grate. Extremely brittle. Would not buy again.

Cast Iron Grates. So I have been grilling on cast iron grates for a very long time. The only thing the KJ Classic 3 didn't come out of the box with was cast iron grates my opinion. I ordered one to start but immediately had to have two. I ordered the second. Now I have four grates multiple set up capabilities and a sear is best on cast. Thanks KJ I love them.

Great Half-Moon cast. Gets the char marks on the meat perfectly. Allows you to split the grill inside to fit the food that is being cooked. An adaptable appliance.

A Must Have Item. This is a must-have item. Cast iron cooking grates are a huge upgrade over the stainless steel ones. For a grill at this price point, this part really ought to be included. But oh well, it’s not expensive anyway so it’s a no-brainer to buy it and use it. The fact that it comes in two parts is a huge plus, as it allows you the ability to add more charcoal while cooking. One minor, minor issue: this cast iron grate rests stably on the divide-and-conquer rack, but it is turned about 20 degrees or so relative to the rack, so if the rack is positioned straight in the grill, the midline of this grate will be angled about 20 degrees from where you’d want it to be . This is because of the nunber and spacing of the grates. Exceedingly minor issue with an easy fix: just turn the rack to position the greet where you want it.

Great Quality! Super fast shipping, and wonderful customer service!

Gotta have cast iron. Love cooking on cast iron! It’s a must have for the Kamado Joe.

Nice but not needed. From a purely functional point of view it is no better or worse than the stainless steel grate that comes standard with the kamado. From a presentation point of view it makes great sear lines in your meat. If you get a chance to buy it on sale then go for it, otherwise maybe put your money towards a different accessory.

Great for searing steaks. A perfect fit for my Big Joe II and seems to be well made.

Kamado Grill. We love our grill and the accessories that we purchased to go with it!

Perfect for char marks. I should have bought this sooner. Cool a lot of steaks and this is perfect for those char marks that everyone desires.

#ilovemywife! Just used it for the first time to bake flour tortillas and grill fajita veggies. Worked like charm! My wife got it for me as a Father’s Day gift and all I can say is: ”I love my wife!”

Cast iron Greats! These grates are great. Perfect for searing meats on direct heat. What you need for steaks and chops

Grill. Grates are heavy duty, nice for the multi layer cooking. Great customer service.

Nice addition to my grilling. Excellent for smash burgers Nice crust on the burgers

Great seer. Great for seering and a very well made addition to your Joe

Cast iron Grill. Excellent addition, use the cast iron grills more Than the stainless steel

For those perfect sear marks. The stainless steel grate that comes with the Kamado Joe is pretty good, but the one area where it lacks is in the ability to get hot enough (with enough heat retention) to give those sexy grill marks on your steaks or other meats. The solution is the cast iron grill grate. I have used this a few times with the D&C set up, and do a reverse sear that is the perfect finishing touch to your grilled meats.

Love the grill marks. Absolutely love this....the grill marks are great. Good quality. Don't forget to season.

Great Grate! Substantial grate...heavy duty and really seared the meat quickly.

Effective. Made of fantastic steak. If you want to get a nice grid, you have to cast iron grate....!!

Invaluable for searing steaks, chicken or anything

Grill marks for the win! If you want great grill marks and a super heavy duty grate this is a no brainer. Love how well it handles searing steaks and other cuts of meat.

Wonderful Addition to the Grill! Love this cast iron grate! It is made very well and I use it all the time! Yup, takes a little care, but definitely worth it. Highly recommend!
