Kamado Joe Joe Jr® Charcoal Basket

Great Upgrade Option. I purchased this the other day and used it for the first time this evening, August 27, 2025. It really helped with charcoal organizing, air flow, and cleanup. You’ll be reluctant at first when you see the price. You may even consider purchasing a less expensive alternative… Don’t. I took a chance, trusting the quality of the other products from Kamado Joe and honestly had to laugh when this arrived. The images don’t do it justice and when you retrieve it from it’s careful packaging, use two hands. The basket is fabricated out of ~1/4” stainless rod and will be remaining long after we die. That said, it’s well worth the money.

Great. Makes cleanup easy and has great airflow! I would recommend this product to anyone

Big Joe Charcoal Basket. I've been using the charcoal basket for three months. It has made clearing out the small bits of charcoal much easier. Improved air flow as well.

My Clasic Joe for 3 Years. A few years ago I purchased the Charcoal Basket for my Clasic Joe. It is so much more efficent to load charcoal and dump the spent coals when finished. It also makes it much easier to to clean up the ash residue on the bottom plate when finished grilling.

Should be part of the grill. This is a must for any kamado grill. I have one for my JR and Classic and really think this should be part of the original set up.

Basket. Helps reduce my coal consumption while providing his airflow

The basket makes it easiy. Bought the basket about a year after purchasing a KJ. Charcoal lighting and evening the heat is perfect. It has lasted for many years as well

Incredible Quality and Very Useful. I love this charcoal basket. I purchased the Kamado Joe Classic II which originally came with the cast metal flat grate. I purchased this charcoal basket in order to have better airflow throughout my unit. I love that it integrates very well into the grill and has hooks that allow the divide-and-conquer to work with it. Furthermore, I really like that it comes with an additional divider grate that allows you to only have charcoal in half the basket if you are doing multi-zone cooking. Lastly, the quality is outstanding. It feels very durable and allows easy cleaning after each cook by shaking the basket to let all the excess ash settle into the ash drawer. This is one of the first accessories I would recommend someone buying for the grill, you will not be disappointed.

Great upgrade. I have used it for several cooks now, big improvement with airflow

Must have. Great feature, Allows you to stack charcoal for hot/med heat zone cooking You can also buy the grip tools. Easy to clean

Preparing for your cook just got easier! I love my Big Joe II, but hated the preparation for new cooks. I read about the charcoal basket and decided to order one. I am very pleased with the basket. It has made the clean up between cooks simple and allows me to have a simple way to set up my lump. I also feel the temperature control improved since adding this to my Big Joe. I highly recommend it.

Better airflow AND easier to remove old charcoal. The basket made things even better. My cleaning and prep time of the grill is much easier and faster when I started using the basket. I also burn less hardwood charcoal as the airflow is so much better. I get a better burn and I use less charcoal too. Savings! Also, cleanout is a breeze!

Great accessory. Love this basket accessory. Easy to use and clean and great for grilling smaller items on the grill. Very durable and holds good well.

Great addition to the kamdo Joe Jr. Provides easier clean up and air flow

High Quality and Super Useful. Really glad I got this for my Joe Jr - makes grilling on the go so much easier

Well crafted. Great product, easy to lift out and put in charcoal

Mandatory. One of the best accessories, this and the cast iron grate are must haves.

Charcoal Basket. Handy basket to keep charcoal neatly stacked. Just shake into ash bucket and refill.

Kick ash basket. Removing the metal part that holds the lump inplace and installing this basket increased the airflow, Making th JR cook like the Clasic. GREAT IMPROVEMENT!

Easy to clean. Works great you can put more charcoal than you think you can. First cook I reduced my cook time about an hour, without knowing it. Temp dropped to around 220, bu still was ok.

Kamado Joe Jr Basket. Terrific charcoal basket works well to maximize charcoal capacity and still provide great airflow.

Essential addition. Makes setup and clean up way easier. Just set it down in the pit when you're ready to grill, and after you're done and it cools, grab it and shake off the ashes.

My New Charcoal Basket. Like all of your products, the basket is made well, a very heavy guage and the perfect accessory to compliment my Joe Jr.

Charcoal Basket. Must have accessory! Get one of these and ditch the stock fire grate.

Excellent product! This is a must to maximize air flow for your cooks. Too bad Canadian customers are not able to purchase on the KJ website anymore.

But it and don’t look back. Before my Joe Jr even delivered I ordered this basket. Looked at reviews and Facebook group posts, baskets are highly recommended. I cannot compare to other brands etc, but this is extremely well built and works exactly as intended. I can hold temps in low 200s and I’ve cranked it up past 800.
