How Long Do Electric Fireplaces Last? Parts and Warranty

How long do electric fireplaces last? There is no burner, chimney or gas valve to wear out, so the lifespan of an electric fireplace comes down to a handful of electrical parts: the heater fan and element, the flame lighting, the flame motor, and the control electronics. Manufacturers do not publish a total lifespan in years. What they do publish is a warranty term and, for some parts, a rated life. This guide walks through which parts wear, what the warranties actually say, and how to buy for a longer life.

Most of the examples below come from Amantii, the brand we carry most, because we could open its manuals and warranty pages and quote them directly.

How long do electric fireplaces last: the parts that wear

Each system ages differently, and most can be replaced on its own.

Heater fan motor and heating element

The heater is the hardest working part. It moves air across a hot element whenever heat is on, so hours of heat use matter more than the age of the unit. Amantii’s WM-FM manual lists the heater and blower as one replaceable assembly and includes a service history page stating “This heater must be serviced annually depending on usage.”

LED vs bulb electric fireplace lighting

Flame lighting is where older and newer fireplaces differ most. Amantii’s FAQ says the only maintenance on its bulb models is changing the 40 watt candelabra bulbs, “which have a standard life of 2 years.” Current models use LEDs. For the Symmetry Xtra Tall Bespoke, Amantii’s product page states a “50,000-hour lifetime LED light source.” That is the only LED rating we found, so do not assume it applies to every model. LEDs can still fail: the WM-FM troubleshooting table lists burnt out flame or ember LEDs as the cause of a dim or missing flame, and the parts list shows the flame and ember LED sets as separate replaceable parts.

Flame motor and flicker assembly

Many units use a small motor that turns a flicker rod to animate the flame. The WM-FM manual names a defective flame motor as the cause of a sputtering or frozen flame. A squeak from this area is a maintenance issue covered in our electric fireplace cleaning guide, not a sign the unit is worn out.

Remote, control board, touch panel and WiFi module

The WM-FM parts list breaks the electronics into separate pieces: main circuit board, touch panel board, remote signal receiver, remote control, AC adapter, temperature sensor and WiFi card. A failed board or receiver is a part swap, not a new fireplace. The WiFi manuals we checked pair the fireplace through the third party Tuya Smart Life app, and these models also ship with a remote control.

What the electric fireplace warranty actually covers

Amantii’s printed warranty (in the WM-FM manual) covers defects in material and workmanship for two years from the first purchase. Key terms, quoted or closely paraphrased from that page:

  • Bespoke Series: five years from first purchase. Amantii’s warranty form page and FAQ say the same, and the FAQ credits “upgraded internal components.”
  • Original purchaser only: “the warranty is not transferable.”
  • Light bulbs are excluded.
  • Glass: tray, front and back glass on Panorama and Symmetry models are excluded; on wall mount and insert models, tray glass is excluded.
  • Voids and exclusions: repairs by anyone other than Amantii or its authorized service, misuse, incorrect installation, improper maintenance, “operation with an incorrect power source,” and unauthorized components.
  • Labor: the warranty form page says “The Amantii warranty does not cover labor charges.” Parts under warranty ship free; out of warranty you pay for the part and shipping.
  • Proof of purchase plus model and serial numbers are required for any claim.

One caution: the Symmetry Bespoke manual we opened prints only the two year term in its warranty text, while Amantii’s FAQ, warranty page and comparison guide list five years for Bespoke. Keep your receipt and ask Amantii to confirm the term for your serial number.

Warranty by series we sell

Series Warranty (per Amantii) Example on our site
Symmetry Bespoke 5 years 42 in Symmetry Bespoke
Symmetry Xtra Tall Bespoke 5 years 60 in Symmetry Extra Tall Bespoke
Symmetry Lumina 2 years 50 in Symmetry Lumina
Panorama BI Slim 2 years Panorama 50 in Slim
WM-FM wall mount / flush mount 2 years WM-FM 44 in
Sierra Flame wall mount Not verified (check the manual) Sierra Flame 40 in

Series terms come from Amantii’s 2026 comparison guide and the WM-FM manual. The same guide lists one year for some other Amantii lines, such as Linear Evolution, RusticStone and LumaForest, so check the term for the exact model before you buy.

Do electric fireplaces wear out faster with heat on?

The heater only wears when it runs, so a unit used mostly for flame effect puts hours on the LEDs and flame motor but few on the fan and element. If you rarely need heat, our guide to running an electric fireplace without heat covers what still works in flame-only mode.

  • Dust: the Symmetry Bespoke manual lists clogged vents as a cause of its E3 heater fault, and the thermal cut-out trips when airflow is blocked. A heater that keeps cutting out is a signal to clear the vents, not something to live with.
  • Power supply: Amantii manuals call for a 15 amp, 120 volt grounded circuit, preferably dedicated, and the Symmetry Bespoke manual says never to use an extension cord. Running on the wrong power source is also a warranty exclusion.
  • Location: the WM-FM manual advises keeping the screen out of direct sunlight, and outdoor Panorama installs require the stainless steel cover for warranty claims.

Repair or replace: signs to watch for

Because most parts are sold separately (Amantii runs a parts store), a single failed LED strip, motor, remote or board is usually a repair, especially inside the warranty period. Replacement starts to make sense when:

  • Several systems are failing at once, such as heater and electronics together.
  • The model is discontinued and the part you need is no longer listed.
  • The unit is out of warranty and the repair needs a technician, since labor is never covered.

Before deciding, work through the checks in our electric fireplace troubleshooting guide.

Buying for longevity: a short checklist

  1. Pick LED flame lighting over bulbs, and look for a stated LED life rating.
  2. Compare warranty terms by series, not just by brand: one, two and five year lines exist within Amantii alone.
  3. Plan a dedicated 15 amp circuit, or a hardwired install by a licensed electrician.
  4. Leave access to the vents so you can keep dust down.
  5. Note your model and serial numbers and keep the receipt; the warranty is not transferable.
  6. If you want app control, confirm the fireplace still works fully from the remote.

Frequently asked questions

What is the typical electric fireplace lifespan?

Manufacturers we checked do not publish one. Amantii warranties most models for two years and Bespoke models for five, and individual parts like LEDs, motors and boards can be replaced, so a well kept unit can outlast its warranty by a long way.

Are LED electric fireplaces longer lasting than bulb models?

Based on Amantii’s own figures, yes: its FAQ gives candelabra bulbs a standard life of about 2 years, while the Symmetry Xtra Tall Bespoke page rates its LED source at 50,000 hours. Bulbs are also excluded from the warranty.

Does the electric fireplace warranty transfer if I sell my house?

Not for Amantii. The warranty covers the original purchaser only and states it is not transferable.

Does the warranty pay for a technician?

No. Amantii ships covered parts free but states its warranty does not cover labor charges.
