Kamado Joe Half Moon Cast Iron Reversible Griddle – Classic Joe

Poor Quality. I bought this cover with my new KJ Classic 3 last November. Within 6 months it has faded to light gray and some of the stitching is coming apart. This quality is not in line with the quality of the KJ Grills. I do not recommend buying these covers. They do not hold up.

Can't stand the rain. It looks nice, but the cover doesn't hold up against rain and bad weather. Within a year, the cover has become discolored and grimy.

Poor Coverage! This cover was trash within 6 to 8 months. "Heavy Duty" No. I've always loved my Komodo Joe products but this is garbage.

Cover handle problem. I purchased the cover and my Big Joe III almost 3 years ago. The plastic handle on the top disintegrated and fell off this week. The cover still looks good and I can continue to use it. I think the webbing material attaching the handle is the problem, and further suspect that sun and weather were major factors. Perhaps your engineers should look for a better material for the handle.

Meh.. I’ve had mine for a little over a year. The bad: any color on it has faded and the stitching is coming apart. The good: no holes in it. There aren’t a whole lot of options for covers so kind stuck with this one. I don’t anticipate getting another year out of it

Looks nice at the beginning but quickly fades and. Fits and looks nice. But unfortunately don’t last long. They last less than 2 seasons (I have already bought 2 and will have to buy my 3rd one shortly). In comparison. I have a grill with its original napoleon cover for the same amount of time outdoor and it still looks like new. Company should look into getting better material.

Poor Quality Heavy Duty Cover. I bought a Big Joe about a year ago. I also bought a Heavy Duty grill cover. One year later the cover is very badly faded and ugly gray. The trim is also fading and actually wearing off. Extremely poor quality. You are better off buying a cheap knock off and rebuy when it goes bad!! I am extremely disappointed in Kamado! You would think their R&D would have tested the product before going to market.

DO NOT BUY! Do NOT waste $130 +tax on this extremely poor quality cover. It states in the description that it "limits fading and sun damage using UV resistant technology." That is a laugh. It faded to gray from the sun in a mere matter of months. After a year, it is nearly white and all of the braiding is so badly sun damaged that it is completely falling off the cover. I have never seen any other grill or furniture cover disintegrate so quickly. If you do purchase it, contact customer service prior to being out of the warranty period, because if it is outside of that period, they could care less to stand behind their product.

bad quality, very disappointed. In less than one year this cover fell apart. The description says "Designed with UV resistant technology to limit fading and sun damage", but after just a few months the cover turned a gray color and then started to disintegrate. I'm really disappointed with the quality. I shouldn't have to buy a new cover every 9-12 months.

Disappointed. Handsome cover with red letter logo and pipping. BUT, after a few months; 4 to be exact the cover has faded to gray, and the red pipping has turned white. My new Kamado smoker grilled looks like a 10 year old piece of equipment instead of a newly investment purchase. Paid good money for the grill and seems that subpar accessories do not measure up.

Half moon grill. I’ve used the half moon cast iron grill once so far, I like it!

Poor quality. After 1 year it was grey After 2 years it is closer to white than to black. I have another grill, BroilKing and its cover is in Much better condition.

Bad quality cover. The cover is of very bad quality. Mine faded in a month, and didn't hold well in the first winter

Great for pretty much everything. It takes a while to heat up per design, but once it does it stays hot for multiple rounds of fish, smash burgers, pretty much whatever. It works great in place of a deflector plate for when you want indirect heat with a sear at the end.

Excellent Accessory. After debating purchasing the soapstone, I decided to go ahead and treat myself, and I am thankful that I did. This this is awesome, very well made and simple to use. You need to season it first like cast iron, but I'm my opinion it works better than cast iron. This thing holds heat very well, the only drawback is that it may become fragile after a lot of cooks , or too hot of temperature.

Perfect factory fit as I always prefer I original manufacture products.

Big Joe cover /poorly made. Everything they say about the currently shipping BIG JOE cover in the description is FALSE. House painters hit my original cover with overspray and offered to replace the cover with new. This was a replacement for my 5 year old original, it leaked within a few months, faded QUICKLY, and the red trim started to come apart. At first it was a perfect fit, beaded water off, breathed well and remained black. Now it is a grey color and I am looking for alternatives. Both from my experience and the abundance of complaints on the website, KamadoJoe has chosen an inferior supplier that forgot to use UV protectant. I should have kept my original which was the best made cover I have ever had on a grill. Live and learn.

Cover Quickly Fades in Sun. Bought the cover early June 2025. It has faded grey from the sun. It’s no good. I have a RecTec pellet smoker with a cover for 5 years which does not fade. They need to change the material.

Great Durability. I have two heavy duty covers and they are constantly exposed to Midwest weather patterns. After multiple years not a single issue and have withheld the temperature and humidity fluctuations. The bottom latch straps are durable and hold securely through windy days. Kamado Joe Half-Moon Cast Iron Reversible Griddle. This accessory truly shines in combination with the Big Joe's massive size and the two-tier rack. My go-to setup involves putting the griddle on the upper rack (for indirect heat) using the flat side up. This is exactly how I heat my sides, just as I mentioned: buns, tortillas, and quesadillas come out perfectly. The heavy cast iron absorbs the gentle, smoky heat from below, creating a perfectly consistent, non-stick warming plate that doesn't scorch or dry out the delicate bread products. It essentially acts as a gentle oven on the upper level while the main grilling happens below.

Great Sear. Just used this to finish off some steaks I reverse seared on the Kamado Joe Classic 1. It was easy to clean up and had a great sear!

Awesome griddle plate. These things are heavy duty!!! Liked the 1rst one so much I got a second for my bj 2

Cover already fading. I've had the cover on the Joe for a couple weeks and the two red "stripes" /cords running around the cover have already turned pink. The cover is fine but given the cost, I expected it to look new for a much longer period of time.

Fabric fades/breaks down. This fades in the sun almost immediately and frays where the red trim is attached. I anticipate will need to be replaced shortly.

Useful but delicate. The soapstone is nice for steaks and other meats. I just find it a little delicate to use. I chipped it slightly when putting it away. Handle carefully

My Soapstone is the BEST Grilling Surface. I leave my SoapStone on my Big Joe! It sears the best and also used as a heat deflector when cooking indirect on the other side of the grill.

Soapstone the Heat Shield Dream. Perfect accessory to deflect direct heat for a perfect slow cook. Just don’t drop them as they are high quality ceramic but not indestructible. Great product.

Steaks Best Friend. This is a must if you cook steaks or burgers. The crust of the steak is like nothing I have seen.

No good. Not as advertised! This cover is not as advertised unfortunately. It is not heavy duty and didn’t last a season. The sun and weather completely deteriorated the cover. It’s embarrassing to look at.

Smashed burgers. Does a very good job with Smash Burgers. Burgers turn out crispy flavorful and slide right off the soapstone

Very Pleased! I purchased this item for my Series 3 Big Joe at the start of the summer specifically for searing burgers & steaks. It works very well! I usually use it as a heat deflector with the grill grate above it to cook steaks and thicker burgers, then remove the grate and sear right on the soapstone. It's gives a great, consistent sear without the potential rust problems of a cast iron or carbon steel griddle. I'm considering getting a second to effectively turn my Kamado Joe into a full flat top griddle. I highly recommend it!

Too soon to tell. Bought about a month ago. First one arrived broken in half, even though the packaging was undamaged. Kamado Joe replaced without a hassle, so kudos for the good customer service. Just got the replacement the other day and have not yet had a chance to use it. Bought it based on great review from Smoking Dad BBQ. Will update after use.

Cast Iron cooks great!! After a couple of cooks getting used to my Kamado Joe, I wanted to do some smash burgers. I purchased the KJ reversable griddle and what a great addition. I use it as a partial divide and cook initially, then will smash and sear on the heated cast iron. It works great for burgers, steaks, and veggies. I've even grilled onions on it and wow, it really does a great job.

Best searing accessory available - easy to clean! This is the best accessory to any KJ. Dont worry about rusting and cleaning your cast iron cookware, as the soapstone is easier to maintain and provides an even better sear surface. Only downside is it may be heavy and can crack over time. Best thing is to support the soapstone with a grill grate underneath.

Love the Cast Iron Griddle. You will love this heavy duty cast iron griddle! Salmon, scallops, veggies, you just cant beat it! I've used this at least a dozen times and each time it heats evenly, cooks consistent and gives me just one more tool to make my Kamado Big Joe even more versatile.

Must have accessory for kamado cookers. If you get only one accessory from any kamado company, this is it. I like using it for indirect cooking, and then it's hot and ready for a reverse sear at the end, or for cooking the best naan you've ever made. Mine has chips and hairline cracks, but does not appear to affect anything and it's holding up.

Versatile and Delicious. This has elevated my Kamado Joe game. I've been enjoying cooking using the cast iron attachment for anything from veggies to fish to pork tenderloin roulade to pineapple. Whether its searing at high temperatures or cooking at low temps, it works. Mostly use the flat side, but the slotted side would be useful for searing steaks.

Great accessories. This really takes your grill to a whole new level would not grill without thia. Raises your cooking surface up.

Probably the best accessory I've picked up for KJ. It's every bit as good as the reviews you've seen. Perfect for getting an even sear on just about anything... steak, burgers, pork chops, fish. Takes a little while to get hot, but once it's there it retains heat like a champ. Also good for items that tend to flare up; such as fatty cuts of meat. For example I wanted to get the charcoal flavor with a wagyu ribeye, as well as a good sear, but there was no chance it could go dirrectly aboove flames, and the soap stone was there to save the day

Soapstone a must. Deflecting direct heat is a must for slow and steady cooks and the half moon soapstones works like a champ.

Smash burgers. Kids love having smash burgers. I got two of these so that I can have 10-12 patties going at the same time.

Too much marketing. I'm sure the cover is fine, but the branding / marketing is stronger and brighter than I realized. Looked more like a display in a hardware store. Ended up ordering an all black one off of Amazon

Game Changer. If you love grilling but struggle with tender or flaky foods, the Kamado Joe Soapstone Grill Accessory is a must-have. The perfect sear! I have a wood stove that has a soapstone wrapping. It. Retains heat and makes my steel clad wood stove much more efficient. When I saw that KJ offered a soap stone sear plate, I was intrigued. Purchased one and heated it up and now I am convinced. Sous vide a big fat ribeye at 137 for two hours and then got the soap stone smoking hot. Seared a minute on each side, perfect sear, perfect crust. Glad I purchased it!

Took a little while to be delivered. Fits like a glove. Protects this investment fairly well. I just wish the skirt were long enough to protect the wheels a bit better.

Incredible for seafood. The best way to cook salmon or any fish on the grill. Creates the perfect crust and is non stick.

Do no buy, very poor quality. Bought the Big Joe 3 BBQ and cover just over a year ago. Out of the box it looks good, however it faded and fell apart in 1 year..bad quality..the ribbing is dangling off, the colour is gone. This is $160 I’m Australia,over double what a generic cover is. I asked around in online BBQ forums and many commented similar experiences, the quality has dropped significantly over the last few years, avoid this until KJ fix their quality

Could be so much better. Cover looks fantastic and seems robust when new, however, for a premium product it weathers surprisingly quickly. Ours has barely endured 2 winters. Some fading is expected but not deconstruction!

Grill is good. Cover is in terrible condition. I purchased the Big Joe in June of 24. The cover is rotting away. Isn’t it warranty for 1 YR?

Hulk smash burger! The reversible griddle makes smash burgers a breeze. My kids love the seared and juicy burgers, and I love how easy they are to turn out for the family. The griddle is easy to clean and store, and I can see this thing outlasting me no question. Great product!

Warranty. I purchased the soapstone for my Jose Classic 2 about a year and a half ago. I’ve used it about 10 times and it ended up cracking into a few pieces. I didn’t know if it had been heated too much or it was a warranty issue so I sent in a review ticket. 1 business day later, the reply states the new one is on the way. Talk about standing behind their product and holding up to their word!

Doesn’t do well in sun. This does not hold up well in the Texas sun! Mine has faded completely to pink (old red) and light grey (old black). It’s certainly not worth the $100 pricetag. Glad I bought during a sale for half off but even still I have plenty of black covered that have not faded

Durable. I’ve had my big Joe three cover for more than four years. Absolutely nothing wrong with it. Still looks very good. I Think I can get another four years out of it.

Newer is better. New cover is an upgrade from the previous version. Appears to be a heavier material and the beading appears much stronger. This cover should withstand the Florida sun for quite a while. As always Kamado Joe is upping their game on their products.

Disappointing - cracked within a week. Honestly - really disappointed with this. It cracked right down the middle within the first week I had it. I had read reviews saying that these were brittle, but this is ridiculous. I went with soapstone over the Karbon Steel because I didn't want to deal with cast iron maintenance, but I guess between the two I'd choose Karbon Steel in hindsight.

Heavy Duty! I’ve been using these grill covers for 4+ years now and have been very impressed with their durability. Before, I had been using ones I found online, but I would usually need to replace them every year due to small tears in the material over time. So far, these hold up incredibly well and I would recommend them, they’ve handled our very hot summers well. Note, I did receive the covers in exchange for an honest review.

Must have accessory for your grill. I have had this cover for over a year now and it is holding up perfectly, keeps my pellet joe dry and clean when not in use. It is super easy to take off and put back on and so far even with heavy winds it stays in place.

Grill cover. Have had my pellet joe for almost a year and this cover has held up well most grill covers don’t make it a year in my yard with direct sun.

This kamado Joe heavy duty grill cover Is awesome! I got this Kamado Joe heavy duty grill cover a few months ago and I’m glad I did, it’s so easy to put on and take off and really keeps my grill safe from the elements, it rained over the weekend and it held up nicely, it looks really good and it such a great buy, definitely a must have if you own a kamado Joe grill.

Heavy Duty indeed! My Kamado Joe covers (2) are still holding up in the south Texas sun where they live & work 365!! Mine are 3 years old, a little faded of course but zero rips, no frayed edges, and still 100% completely intact. I wish all grill covers were made this sturdy.

Great cover! One of the best grill covers I have owned. Form fitting. Great stitching. And thick material with a nice handle on top. The only thing I could say is it does fade rather quickly... But I do live in Florida and the sun is brutal here. All in all it's a great cover that's worth the money. 🔥

A must have for your Kamado Joe! I own one of these heavy duty grill covers for each of my Kamado Joe grills they are a must have! Super durable, easy to put on and remove, locking clips on both bottom sides and also a vent on the back for air circulation. Highly recommend!!!

Durable. I got one of these covers with my Pellet Joe. Overall pretty happy with it. Stays on snug even through storms. The material is durable. The downside is that it faded in one season...now it's a bit of an eyesore compared to what else is on my patio. 8/10

Must have for the KJ. I had a generic kamado cover for my KJ previously that wasn't holding up and was starting to deteriorate. I bought this recently and it was worth the upgrade! I love the fit and finish and how easy it is to remove right off the grill with the thick top handle. A lot of grill covers don't look great, but the logo and fit of this cover is spot on. Highly recommended!

Durable. It’s been a great durable cover for my Kamado Joe.

Soapstone is my favorite Kamado accessory. Awesome for searing and food does not stick to it. Incredible. Need to handle with care to not break it, though.

Grill cover. Fits perfect with the pellet joe kamado grill, I recommend this cover.

Only partly heavy duty. While the main body of the cover has lasted and withstood the elements, the handle clearly isn’t up to scratch. In no time after daily sun exposure the hand completely breaks down and becomes brittle and fall apart. Very counter intuitive to have something so flimsy and susceptible to UV rays that it falls apart within a year that is meant to protect your grill and be outside year round. This definitely needs a new material for its handle.

Cracks. This product cracks! It’s not if it’s when! Read other reviews same problem with them all! I bought my first one and it cracked thinking I didn’t support it right or wash it to hard so bought another one never took the grill grate from under it full support and it still cracked! Great searing but it won’t last long ☹️

Great Big Joe Addition. The stones heat evenly and quickly. Smash burgers are a breeze and searing steaks has never been easier!

Developed chips after minimal use. After two cooks, the bottom side developed several big chips in the cooking area of the stone. Customer Service says this is normal. I'm unable to use that side for cooking.

Highly recommended! Seasoned it twice cooked chicken to perfection on grilled side. Non stick. Grilled steak on the flat side was perfect as well.

Grill cover. It fits perfectly but the color faded very quickly.

Do not waste your time or money. It will arrive broken. When you eventually get a replacement, it will also arrive broken. Good luck.
