New product suggestion. I live in a Salt Air environment and it is impossible to keep the grades from rusting. I think some sort of bag to store the grates from the elements would be a popular item

Great smoker keep all air inlets closed. My fiancé bought it when we moved into the house 6 years ago. I didn't think it was very hard to assemble. It does let smoke out cracks on the grill but after I realized that I leave all the adjustable air adjustments closed and It keeps the temps at my preferred smoking temp about that 225 degrees F. I like the slow rolling smoke cook, When I learned that a combo it with The MEATER Plus: Smart Bluetooth Wireless Meat Thermometer It is one of the best smokers I've used. Temps are perfect

Great Quality Grill. I purchased the Char-Griller Smokin’ Champ Grill Offset Smoker when I found it on sale at Home Depot. I was a bit skeptical at first because of the price, but this grill exceeded my expectations. The build quality is excellent—it’s heavy, sturdy, and feels very durable. Despite the weight, it’s still manageable to move when needed. Assembly was straightforward, and I was able to get everything set up without any issues. After following the instructions to properly season the grates, it was ready to use, and it has performed great ever since. Out of all the grills I’ve owned in the past, this is by far my favorite. I also purchased a cover to help protect it from the elements and prevent rust, which I would recommend to help extend its lifespan. Overall, this is a high-quality grill at a great value, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable offset smoker.

Perfect set up. Ive had my smokin champ for 3 years now and has easily become my favorite smoker ive ever used. Perfect size for any BBQ festivities. SO MUCH ROOM FOR ACTIVITIES! Easy to use, easy to clean and maintain. Highly recommend for all classes of Barbecue enthusiast

Smokin Champ. I’ve bought this smoker 3 years ago and still delivers great food to my family. One downfall is the ash tray wears down after around the 2-3 year mark and will need replacing. Luckily the site has just what you need for your replacement parts.

Perfect. As a fledgling pit master, the Smokin' Champ is exactly what I needed to learn/hone the craft. I think the only people who love it more than me are my dinner guests who get to sample my efforts!

Great smoker! I bought it about a year ago at Home Depot and I’ve smoked me some ribs and a brisket the next day. Best money I’ve spent! Great either way grilling and perfect smoker.

Best Smoker Ever. I've had mine for about 7 years now and I absolutely love it. Bought the dual fuel duo at Lowe's a few years ago and still use this one the most. This smoker has given us some juicy Thanksgiving turkey, wonderfully tender pulled pork, and my wife's favorite prime rib. Absolutely recommend!

Excellent Smoker. My wife bought me this smoker 7 years ago as a birthday gift and it's the best smoker I've ever had. Making plans to incoporate it into a covered smokehouse in the backyard.

Oh my god good!! I bought my char-grill offset smoker recently. So my first recipe I cooked the spatchfrog chicken they recommended. I smoked it with cherry wood for 2hrs and it was the juiceyest chicken I have ever had especially since there is no fire under the bird. If you get one of the smoking champ grills from them I highly recommend that you try the frogcocked chicken recipe you will not be disappointed 🤙😊

Very good slow smoker. If your in a rush, this is not your smoker. But if you like to infuse a robust smoke flavor into your meat, this is a fun and rewarding smoker. Take your time, use some charcoal at first mixed in to help you establish your temperature. After you get use to it, then you can just use wood, but I like the taste of charcoal mixed in.

Smokey. Bought for the experience of smoking Does good job holding onto the coals and keeping low heat in the large chamber

My favorite. This grill was my first at my new home and it's still smoking. The durability of this thing is amazing didn't have to adjust or try to patch up any holes that let smoke out either just an all around great grill with a smoker to boot.

Great Smoker. We upgraded our smoker to the Char-Griller offset smoker and I lost my grilling privileges. LOL My husband took over the grill. I get the meat ready, and he get the grill set-up. We work as a team now. We also added a gas/charcoal grill to the patio for our side dishes. It is a lot of work but if you love doing something is it really work? The offset smoker pulls the smoke across the meat to give that beautiful smoke ring you're looking for and the top grate will hold a pan of baked beans and/or Mac & Cheese to add a bit of smoke to them after cooking on the charcoal grill. I love our Char-Grill set-up.

Lots of cooking area. This grill has lots of cooking area. I use it to smoke turkey for Thanksgiving. I had done a brisket once as well. The only downside is that even with a cover the grates rust up pretty bad. I've replaced them once along with the charcoal pan just not sure if I want to keep buying parts every season

smoke heaven. Had this offset for 4 years still smoking like it was still new if you take care of your smoker she will take care of you still has lots of life left in it keep it covered on the patio year round had other brands but this one is tops

Easy to use and durable. I received the offset smoker as an anniversary gift 5 years ago. Learning the proper techniques to get the best flavor was a breeze with all the information provided by Char-Griller. I'm always asked when I'm going to cook ribs for the family! We have a great time sitting around the smoker enjoying conversation while waiting for the perfect "test" time. Bringing back memories of our dad's annual NC Pig Pickin!!

Very nice charcoal smoker. Works as it should. The grates in the smoke box are nice to use that section as a small grill. Very heavy, should have another handle for moving around besides the one on the smoke box which deflects up.

Good value and versatility. Had for almost 1 year. Good value for the price. I like that it provides slow smoke and fast grilling option. Would buy again.

Solid build but leaks smoke. Great offset smoker overall -- has held up for more than 5 years with no issues other than a bit of rust from excessive heat and a bit of exposure to the elements forgetting to cover it sometimes. Tons of space for multiple pork butts or racks of ribs ... only issue is a bit too much smoke leaks out between the top cover and the bottom of the barrel, but overall no impact on anything being cooked - would definitely buy again, but plan to upgrade to the Grand Champ style when this one bites the dust

The Toyota of Grills & Smokers. The Barrel Grill and Off-set Smoker is like that awesome Toyota you bought brand new knowing full well this thing is going to take you where you need to be and never let you down with minor maintenance inbetween. I love cooking on it whether its grilling up some chicken for dinner, or spending a Saturday parked right next to it smoking a brisket. It holds heat very well and easy to control the fire when you're smoking. Do yourself a favor and grab one if you want to smoke and grill like Aaron Franklin

Great for beginners. I bought this type of grill in 2009 during a tornado watch. I could hear the sirens on the way home. I was surprised at how easy it was to put together for the price. If you are getting into grilling or smoking, this a great grill to start with.

Owned for about a year and a half. My wife bought me this offset smoker for Father’s Day last year. This has been my first experience using an offset smoker, I started with a pellet smoker. There is definitely a learning curve when it comes to fire management. I did purchase lava lock insulating strips as there was a lot of smoke leakage around the lid. This help tremendously in maintaining temperatures. I use this all the time not only for smoking but grilling as well. For the price of this smoker it does the job.

Smokin Champ offset smoker and me. I bought my offset smoker 7 years ago, and I still use it regularly, I have grilled, baked, smoked different kinds of meats, Salmon too, I am very pleased with this Grill,and I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Simple and effective. I've used the offset a few times now and it is really easy to use. Temperature management is easy with the vents. I've used the grill portion many times and it is just as easy to use and easy to clean.

Great for backyard. I am a casual backyard smoker, this smaller is great for grilling too. Smoked brisket, turkey and ribs all had great smoke flavor. Take some time to get the airflow just right. Recommend a few practice burns to figure out the proper airflow to maintain heat.

Smokin pro makes me a smokin pro. I absolutely love my smokin pro offset smoker. I get to sit on the patio, watch NASCAR, drink jack n waters and make delicious smoked meats all day. I love the aroma of the pecan wood wafting out of the smoke stack and watching a fantastic meal come together over the course of a few hours. I had an electric smoker prior to this and I was a bit disappointed. This masterpiece of a grill is an awesome addition to my cooking arsenal and I will be sure to get another one once I wear this one out.

Great smoker! This has been a great smoker since I got it a few years ago. Easy to put together and easy to maintain. Been able to create some great smoke meats with it.

Good fire box, nice and even heat distrubution. I had this Grill before getting the Acorn Graphite kamado grill. I loved this grill and was sad to let it go. It held up so good, all I had to do each spring is clean it, touch up some paint spots and it was ready to go. This grill would slow cook ribs, loins to perfection. If I wanted steaks it was easily convertible to a regular grill and away I would go. A very versatile grill indeed. Like I said sad to see it go, but no room for two grills!

Old faithful. Been using this grill/smoker over 6 years with great success in both modes. Keep it covered and cleaned, it will last many years.

So much space! I bought this grill a few years ago and LOVE using it. The clean up is quick, the fire stays HOT, the space is huge, the time it takes to make delicious meat is LOW.

Great Grill Smoker! I have owned and used 3 or 4 Char-Griller grills with offset smokers. I love the versatility of these grills. We can do all the foods we love from smoking a turkey to grilling steaks to barbecue pork butts.

Excellent Smoker/BBQ. I have owned this grill for almost 18 years now and it has performed flawlessly. Only replaced the charcoal grate three times since I’ve owned it. Easy to regulate temps when using the offset smoker. Easily fits six racks of baby back ribs.

I Love it! Char-Griller Smokin' Champ Charcoal Grill Offset Smoker Model 1733. I purchased this Smoker in November 2024 when it was on end-of-season sale, as a replacement for my last smoker which rusted to pieces after 27 years.It is very similar to my last smoker. This one has the off-set box for smoking with logs like my last one, but this one also has an adjustable fire-grate under the food grates, so it can be used as a charcoal grill too, I like that alot, 2 in one! This was the biggest one I could find in my price range, under $300, which is another reason I bought this one. My last smoker had a propane gas burner at the bottom of the offset smokebox. A feature that I liked because it helped get the wood burning. It was also helpful when the wood was almost gone, and I didn't want to add more, but the food needed a little more time to cook. I could just  turn on the burner. I am going to try and customize this smoker with a propane burner in the offset box. My last smoker also had a shelf in the front, as well as on the side. I will add a shelf to this one. I know there are bigger models with more features (and more expensive) but I wanted to keep it basic. I really like the adjustable fire-grate. I bought a pizza-steel and I can't wait to try it with lump charcoal and wood. I would highly recommend this smoker/ charcoal grill.

Smoke time! I bought this girl during the pandemic and I started making bar b que right away after getting it right first and doing a couple of burn offs. It holds up well and I use the smoke box atleast several times a year. But I’m always on the grill. Holds enough space to cook for any party size. Gets better with age to me. Although the grates may need to be replaced after extended amount of use.

Easy to operate. Fire box works great, doesn’t leak much. Grates are heavy, won’t go bad

Can't get enough. I have one smoker at my summer home and one at my winter home so I can enjoy the smoking experience all year long. Also have done a few upgrades along the way. The one in Florida even survived a hurricane only suffering a broken leg and shredded cover.

Great grill! This is my 2nd Char Griller grill. Excellent quality and well made. Stands up to my year round grilling and smoking with no problems.

Good for Summer Smoking. My wife bought me this smoker about 4 years ago. With young kids, I don't get to fire it up as often as I'd like but this smoker has been perfect for helping to create summer holiday memories. At times the fire box has been hard to regulate, but I often chalk that up to a little bit of user error.

Five years on and still smoking. We bought this over fiber years ago and it has smoked many briskets, ribs, grilled steaks, burgers, and hot dogs and it’s still a solid smoker/grill . . . I replaced the grates last years and we should be good for a long while now

Older model I refurbished. Have an older model that I refurbished and replaced some parts. Always like the way charcoal grills give a great flavor

Works very well. Temperature fluctuates quick! That's the nature of a small volume offset, though. It is not sealed around the lid. You get what you pay for...I'd still recommend this smoker for sure.

Smokin champ. I bought 2 of these .one 7 years ago and still have it.The 5 years ago I bought another for my son in law. Mine is broken in famously .I have had to replace ash pan once. I definitely recommend Char Griller

Great value. Good bang for the buck smoker. Keep it covered and it will last. I sand rust and re paint with hi temp paint once a year.

Great smoker. I have had a smoker from Char-Griller for over 10 years and it is still going like a champ! I am not positive that this is my exact model but they make great smokers and I love mine.

An Easily managed smoker. I have done some great smokes on this unit. Smoked turkey, brisket, pork shoulder, etc. It has produced great results.

Love my offset smoker. This grill has lasted us far longer than any other grill we’ve purchased. You can cook directly over coals or use the offset box to slow cook & smoke your meats. I am so impressed with the quality & durability of this grill.

Grill/Smoker. I have owned my grill for 4 years and it has performed beyond my expectations. I have smoked brisket, ham and turkeys on it. I have grilled hamburgers, hotdogs, ribs and chicken on it. My family has thoroughly enjoyed the outcomes of the grills performance.

works good both ways with or without offset smoker. recieved as gift 2 years ago used with and without offset fire box depending on area needed for meat cooks a little faster when having fire in barrel instead of offset box but works good in cold weather

21 YEARS AND GOING STRONG. I purchased my offset smoker in 2004 have used it several times a week year round since then. I have replace the grates once, ash pan about 6 times, wheels and side firebox once. I absolutely love it!! It had a tree limb fall on it from an ice storm in 2007. I pushed out the dent in the top and kept on using it. Been moved several times. Has never let me down. I clean and repaint it every year and keep it under a cover. That says a lot about the quality and customer service of Char-Griller. I'd buy another on in a heart beat but this one works just great and is still great shape.

Great grill to learn fire management. I have had my smoking champ for over 4 years. For the price, this is a great piece of equipment to own not only for the size, but durability as well. I would also say that it will aid you greatly in honing your fire management skills.

Good for the Everyday Backyard Smoking Hobbyist. I bought my offset smoker about 4-5 years ago. It has been great for grilling and smoking and is still going strong. Just used it yesterday for a reverse seared thick cut bone-in ribeye. - Delicious! My complaints? Hard to keep the temp up on windy days, need to block the wind. And if you forget to clean and oil the cast iron grates when done using it, they will rust fairly quickly.

Great quality! I bought this a month ago. I have yet to use the side box, but have grilled steak, chicken, and hamburgers. Love the removable charcoal tray for easy clean up. Also love the quality of the material. Can't wait to use the sidebox for smoking!

Great grill/smoker. This is a great grill/smoker. My wife bought this as a birthday gift for me, and I have loved it ever since. I'm still working the kinks out when it comes to smoking with it, but I don't mind the practice at all.

Easy to use. I bought mine in 2018 and it is a great investment, only thing I've done to it was a little touch up paint, I keep it covered because of this Texas weather.

Great Smoker/Grill. I bought the original design more than a decade ago and still using it to this day. Only replaced the warming rack and grilling racks due to wear and tear after a decade of use and gave my smoker a fresh coat of paint. Best investment for a product that will last more than a decade. Here's to another decade of use!!!

Great smoker. I have had this offset smoker for almost 5 years now. I have smoked ribs, whole chickens, pork tenderloins, deer blackstraps, and thanksgiving turkey. the meat always comes out so tender and juicy with that smoke flavor.

Great smoker for backyard BBQ’s. I bought this smoker in the fall of 2024 and it has proven to be our subdivisions go to smoker. It’s been a hit. It has performed extremely well time after time. Others have bought the same smoker as a result of its performance at its price point.

Great grill, some issues. Love this grill. Have loved it since I bought it. This grill has been well used and has smoked more meat than I ever thought I would. This grill has made it through many a family-gathering providing enough food for all. Pros: I love the experience this grill has provided. I taught myself how to use a smoker with this grill. Temperature control is a useful skill I've developed through this. Cons: The barrel warped at some point. Making it so my grates no longer fit properly. I found it extremely difficult to find replacement grates that would fit with the now slightly warped shape of the barrel.

Cast iron. I bought a new char griller to replace my old one. Cast iron grill is amazing also super affordable.

Excellent Smoker!!! I have used it twice since I bought it a month ago and I am very happy with the smoker.
