Char-Griller King-Griller Smokin’ Ace Charcoal Grill and Offset Smoker

Love this Grill. Love my new grill, used it once so far and it keeps a good temperature. Temps were easy to adjust.

Sloppy Packaging Process. I purchase the Smoking Ace three weeks ago. It is my 7th grill from Chargriller in 30 years. These guys make a fantastic grill, I usually run them until they rust through and can no longer stand up. I have bought them for friends, my country house and replacing them when they fall apart from age. Best grill out there for the money. This time when I purchased it for a new home, it came without one of the 4 legs. I guess sloppy package assembly in the factory. The box also was pretty beat up when it arrived. It took them 10 days to get me a new leg. should be up and running for next weekend.

Disappointed. This is my 3rd Char-griller and the first time I've been disappointed. Everything is thinner and lighter. The lid of the grill doesnt align with the bottom causing massive leakage. The side smokebox is smaller than that standard side smokebox and its door is sprung open requiring weight to close it.. If I purchase another Char-griller, Ill not buy it direct but from a retailer where I can inspect it before making a purchase.

Terrible product. Nowhere near what I thought I was buying. Way smaller and came with bent, broken and scuffed pieces.

I love it. I’ve had this grill for almost 10 years now and I love it. I’ve smoked anlmost everything on this pit and it’s never disappointed me. Perfect grill for someone who’s just getting into BBQ. Now I’m looking to upgrade.

Love this grill! I bought this offset smoker about 5 years ago, and I wasn’t sure if I would like it. I have to say this has been my best purchase by far! Not only do I love it, but the quality is amazing! Prior to this purchase I was constantly buying grills because they would weathers and be ruined in a couple years. Love This Smoker. Purchased a while back and all components held up well over time. We smoke brisket, pork, ribs, and the occasional Turkey, everything turns out great. Easy to moderate the smoke and heat, versatile setup for just plain grilling when I want.

Char Griller smoker fan for life. I bought my first Char Griller offset smoker 17 or 18 years ago, can’t recall the exact year. I purchased the larger version over ten years ago and it’s still going strong! I am a Char Griller smoker fan for life!

Ole Smokey. Bought this grill as a beginner over 4 years ago. The more you use it the better it gets. This is truly a Grand Champion smoker. Might I also add be diligent in learning this smokers characteristics.

Great value. I seen my neighbor bought one and he showed it off to me so I was envious enough to go out and buy one the very next day. The offset is a game changer when it comes to smoking. I am old school when it comes to smoking and grilling. They're so dependable you don't need any types of power whatsoever. My electric was out during a storm for 2 days and I was so glad I had it I use the smoker at least twice a month, I thoroughly enjoy it and my friends and family love what comes out from it.

Somewhat Disappointed. I needed to replace my "Char-Griller Offset Smoker after 10+ years. I ordered the King-Griller thinking it was the authentic Char-Griller Offset Smoler I was replacing - Wrong - The King-Griller seems to be of lower quality.

Best Xmas Gift Ever. I received this for XMAS this year from wife, mom-in-law and Daughters. used it to do a brisket for NYE. easy to use, came out better then most of the restaurants around here, and I live in Ft Worth..

Last time we purchase any CharGriller product. Poor workmanship, reminds me of rush job, half-baked. Did not fit well, parts misaligned. Parts had to be bent, bolts poor quality, support brace for smoker could not be screwed in as holes were not drilled in correct place. The lids do not seem to close properly which will result in loss of heat. Disappointed as previously we bought the Pro-Deluxe type version and all parts fit perfectly. i grew up and worked in a machine shop as a kid and know about these things. We at least expected the grill parts to fit together.

Exceptional Grill/Smoker! My smoker is almost three years old. I love smoking food. I keep trying new things. It was about the only thing that didn't float away in Hurricane Ian. I'm thankful! Grill and cover still in great shape. Better than any I've had previously.

Love this grill. I bought this style of grill many years ago, and that grill lasted me many years, but as with anything things have to be replaced so I just bought another one like my previous one. It cooks great and holds temp great, the offset box gives the food that extra taste that any griller wants.

Great Features. I bought this grill about 4 years ago I use it about 3 times a week it is still going strong and The temperature gage is accurate to the point I do not need to use an outside unit. I would highly recommend this grill.

missing parts, damaged lid. I purchased this on the chargriller website here, and just recieved it and started to assemble, only to find out there were major parts missing - none of the cast iron grates were included in the box for either the main chamber, or smaller side box. The lid also came with a large scratch and dent on the front.

I am back to the old time smoker, finally! After moving to a gated corporate owned community I started using a pellet smoker for the last 8 years. Since I started smoking meats 54 years ago and always with charcoal and wood, I resigned myself to be satified with a pellet system. When the Covid plandemic hit and stopped travel we left our corporate community and resume live in the real world which meant I could return to actually smoking meats again. Thank you Lord! I bought the King Griller Smokin' Ace for several reasons: 1] my age; 2] it is an offset smoker which is, in my opinion, the only way to smoke meats!; 3]price; 4] the removable grill bottom in the main compartment. This was important to me as I turned this over and installed it upside down & made certain it covered the fire hole in the fire box. This directed the smoke across the grill & allows smoke to seep around in a more uniform fashion with even smoke through the grill. It also contains the heat & transfers it more evenly throughout. I did buy a clamp for the fire box although I do not think it is actually necessary. I put a layer of Lavarock sealer around the fire box lid and this was a mistake. Should not had done it as I believe the system would work fine without it. I did fire my grill for around 10 hours empty to season it before actually putting meat in it. This gave me an apoortunity to test temperture settings and learn the grill a bit so not to burn valuable food. I did a pork butt anda 5 lb chicken a

Issues. Leaks from alot of places when smoking. Held temp ok. top came dented. Last one so we couldn't get a replacement before fathers day. Paint started peeling from side smoker after 2 uses 8 hours. Other than that good

I would recommend this grill to a friend. This Griller/smoker was gifted to me by a friend. I have a small Q grill and a master built electric smoker, which I have used a lot. This grill was a outdoor display model for Lowe's, my friend went there for something else and saw the price and bought it on the spot. The paint was dull and there was rust on the grates and wheels. A little elbow grease and a wire brush took care of the rust. I am seasoning it now and followed all the directions, including putting oil on the outside of the grill when warm. Now it looks like it just came out of the box. I am able to control the heat very well using the dampers on the fire box and chimney and have maintained 240-260degrees. The paint looks good, no bubbling anywhere on the fire box. Using lump charcoal is the way to go. You don't need a lot of it to maintain good temperature control. I have 18min left on part one of seasoning the grill. I'll pull the grates and let them cool then apply more vegetable oil and put them back in for two more hours at 200degrees. Then, it's cooking time. MTF.

Nice grill/smoker for the price. Just purchased this smoker/grill a few weeks ago to replace my previous Char-Griller that finally rusted out after about 8 - 10 years. I was hesitant to purchase until Lowes gave me a great discount due to all of the rust on the unit. I think the paint process is the weakest link with Char-Griller. On this unit, wherever pieces of metal meet/welded, there is rust. It is almost like they don't paint or powder coat after parts are welded together. I gave those rust spots a quick wipe and a shot with high-temp grill paint and that should take care of it. I think that this unit is built well enough for the weekend griller. I did lose a lot of paint on the side firebox because I got it a bit too hot during the seasoning process. Every other part held up well. Plenty of room to grill for about a dozen people or to smoke some large quantities of food. I did notice quite a bit of smoke seepage around all the lids but not too bad. My larger lid is a bit crooked as one side closes first while the other side is still about a half inch open. But it does close all the way. The ash pan hooks would not grab on one side. Had to bend them out further and also adjust the rungs on the ash pan handles. Still a bit precarious and a bump could cause the ash pan to drop. Warming tray is bowed upward in the middle. Not sure if that is a manufacturing process to accommodate the drooping that will most likely happen with usage or a real mistake. I do like the seasoning

Great starter offset smoker. Ive been wanting to start smoking meat and doing real traditional bbq but the prices of offset smokers were just ridiculously high and not having space for a welder i wasnt able to build my own so when i saw this in lowes i was skeptical to say the least but it turns out this smoker is great it dose leak smoke but it still produces great flavor and keeps a constant heat id give it a 10 out of 10 great beginner set up

Great grill for the price. I use this for indirect heat smoking. Its really good for smoking meats at temps around 200 - 250. I recommend a charcoal chimney to start your charcoal. Only thing bad I have found is the paint is flammable so do not start your charcoal in the fire box or you will catch the outside of the box on fire and melt the paint off.

Great grill. I had been looking for a new grill for a couple of years been wanting one with a smoker box but was put off by the price of most models I saw this one at lowes. And decided the price was right especially with my veteran discount. It seems to be a very well made grill for the price the smoker works great only issue is quite a lot of smoke escapes around the lids but makes amazing steaks and smoked deer roasts.

Seems like solid construction but the paint quality sucks. I'm not a master smoker by any means but I do love to grill. This is my third grill, my other two consist of a propane grill and a pellet smoker. I just wanted to be able to tend a fire. This grill was easy to put together by myself and seems of a sturdy construction. However just by doing the initial seasoning of the grill the paint has started to bubble and flake away which is going to cause rusting here in the great state of FlorIda. I would have hoped for a higher temp paint that would withstand the fire considering it is on a firebox. But we shall see. The cooking surface is the correct size for what I need but I don't believe you would be able to do a whole lot of food for a large gathering on it. I would stick to small size gatherings.

Nice Grill. This is an entry level grill. You get what you pay for, but if done right this grill should last a while. Same build as any other CharGriller but without the finishing touches. I'm excited to own it and plan to use it a ton.

Great value and performance. I bought this smoker early in the season and now have a few months of use under my belt with it. For the money I love this thing. I've done ribs, chicken whole and in pieces, beef brisket and pork shoulder on the smoker and also used it as a grill for steaks and burgers as well as chops and even veggies. The performance was superb on the smaller shorter cooks and the flavor was amazing! There are a few small drawbacks to this particular smoker. The fire box is rather small so the ash pan fills up fairly quickly and is not super easy to remove and empty. The intake vents are a slide type that are not the easiest to get open and closed as the grill gets used more. There are some other small things but not really worth bringing up. Finally IMPORTANT: Follow the instructions for curing and preparing the grill prior to using it for the first time! The paint will blister and peel and the unit will rust terribly if you don't do that! It takes a little time. If you've ever cured a cast iron skillet you'll have no trouble. The idea is the same. Enjoy!

Biggest Piece of Junk. This is a POORLY MADE PIECE of JUNK. I've used this smoker (3) three times. Paint is peeling (I had to repaint the firebox and main grill. I have had better constructed smokers in the past. My children brought this to me for a gift and I wish that they would have not WASTED their hard earned money !! Do Not Waste your Money on this Company !! I could mention more but I don't want to Waste my Time !!

good grill. I had a gas grill, we needed a new one so we decided to go charcoal and yes its a little dirty yes it needs a little more planning and not as convenient but the taste is so much better than gas and you will never run out of gas in the middle of cooking. We got the grill at a big box store and its good no problems and the paint issues of others, hey they make thousands a week so one or two bad ones might get through. when its time to replace we will get a char griller grill again.

Buy it! My husband wanted a new grill for Memorial Day, so I chose this one. The reviews were mixed, but we made sure to "season" all surfaces and we had 0 problems. This is a great grill. I got this grill from my daughter and granddaughters to replace my old grill. assembly was some what easy as long as you take your time and follow the instructions. I had read some reviews saying there was paint peeling problems but I did not have any just make sure you follow the seasoning instructions and coat the exterior also when you season. charcoal lights easy and is grill is so efficient I use less charcoal. I love it.

Great buy for the price. This grill is great for a small time Griller like myself. I wanted to start learning how to smoke meats, so wife bought his smoker for me as a Father's Day gift. I had already looked up reviews about the gaps and paint issues. Assembly was a bit difficult but was able to put it all together with minor improvements in the legs. After putting some RTV hi temp to seal up gaps and putting gasket in the lid, this baby lights right up and now has minimal smoke leakage. I made sure to take off all stickers and season it according to instructions. So far no issues with paint peeling.

Love my grill. I mostly grill, but occasionally smoke meats. Mainly for family, sometimes for small groups of friends. I'm by no means an expert but I get great results from grilling and smoking

My Family and I LOVE our Smokin Ace! I am loving my new Smokin Ace, I would buy it again (if needed) have recommended it to family and friends. The clean up can be messy after using it all day for a larger gathering, when it is a smaller gathering or just us the clean up is super easy, simple and most of all quick.

I'm enjoying this grill. I'm pretty pleased with this grill so far, the fire box is great for Smokin ribs, butts, the grilling surface is adequate for my needs, the only con is the firebox has to be emptied often while Smoking, but isn't that big of an issue, overall it's a nice grill!

Easy Installation and good design. Very good installation instructions and easy setup. Large grilling surface. You can pull out the offset chamber to dump ashes. Wish it sealed better. Don't understand why any smoker should have to be modified. Almost every master smoker recommends sealing the edges and inserting a dryer vent under the stack to keep smoke in better so think these mods should be included.

Good value for what you get. I found that 7/16 in socket and wrench help. A lot better than a nut driver and Hammer and pliers. Also some of the stuff while bolting together helped if you didn't tighten the bolt before assembly. Example would be the four legs and the bottom shelf also the front shelf to the base.

Enjoying new Father's Day gift greatly. Since purchasing this grill/ smoker, I have used it several times. Follow the recommendations from Char-Griller and you will have no issues. I've done burgers and pork loin on it and it grills/smokes great. Pork loin did great smoking on it. Down side is that side smoke box is kind of small. Deeper smoke box would be great as it fills up with ashes quickly. Would advise on a cover as a second protection. But keeping a good coat of oil all over grill/smoker helps to keep it in good condition.

Smoke and grill made simple. I've had a grill in my yard for 40 years and I finally retired my Weber grill and my smoker this year ! Replacing them both with my char griller king griller ! This combo grill smoker is just awesome works just like the pros ! I can't believe I waited so long to try one out I'll never go back to just a charcoal grill ... smokes to perfection slow and low or hot and now ,so easy to control just a flawless smoker infuses just the right flavors . I can't wait to use it again tomorrow kudos to char griller love my grill

ok for the money. overall this grill isn't to bad for the money. I've used it 2 times in 3 weeks but the problem I have is after I got it all put together, the fire box lid would not open correctly and rubs on the main griller lid. I spoke with the warranty department but it seems they forgot about me. I could go on but no need. Still don't have the problem taken care of so I guess my next smoker will be a different brand. live and learn.

Great grill for under $200. I love grilling and smoking. Even heat is easy to maintain and the smoker box is easy to feed. It'll hold 8 racks of baby back ribs and clean-up is easy.

Great grill for the price! Used this grill for the first time today. We used it as a smoker. It was hard to keep a constant temperature but the meal was delicious and we were very satisfied with the performance. The paint blistered and peeled around the side firebox door even though we followed the seasoning instructions. But overall I think this grill was worth the money.

GREAT SMOKER FOR THE PRICE. The directions are slightly difficult but can make it by actually reading all of it prior to beginning. Has done its job after 3 uses. Did the pre-work on the smoker by oiling and have NOT had any paint issues. One issue is that I did not expect the thermometer to fill with water.....

Not made like they use to. Looks great cooks great but rust quickly and may not last 2 years. And I keep it covered but high heat causes paint to peel

Never. Don't buy this literally you will watch your money burn. This was my Birthday present I looked all day long. Definitely take your time a employee had warned me not to buy a grill like this buyer beware.

Poor Quality.. paint peeled off after first use. The paint peeled off with the label and after the first use the paint bubbled up and melted off in several places. Haven't even had the grill for 24 hours and it is already rusted where all the paint melted off. Do not waste your money. Very disappointed.

Poor paint on smoker. First day I used the grill the paint on the grill and smoker peeled leaving surfaces bare metal allowing to rust.

I would not buy this product again!! Looks great as a floor model but definitely not worth the purchase. I purchased this grill on 4/10/20 and only used 1 time. The paint just peeled right off during first use and now it looks terrible

Great grill. The grill is easy to assemble, it does take some time though. I seasoned the grill per instructions and cooked on it once. I ran the temp up to 320° and no problem with paint blistering. The grill warms up quickly and holds temp well. I expect this grill to last a long time.

Very Good Starter Offset Smoker! I have been smoking meats for several years now, and this is my first off set smoker. So far it has been a nice addition to my smoker line-up. I live where there is a lot of mesquite and oak available from local trees, so I have an abundant supply for smoking. I bought mine from Lowes because they had the model with the metal wheels. I have had some grills with plastic wheels where the wheels just started to break, and I did not want that with this smoker. There are lots of You Tube vids with hints and tricks for this smoker, so check them out for better grilling and smoking. One thing I found was that the tray for dumping the ashes was way too hard to remove due to the catch tab. I fixed that by taking my side grinder and removing about 1/8" off the tab and rounding the corners of that tab. It has lots of shelf space for your food, plus hooks on the side shelf for your tools. All in all, this is a nice introductory offset smoker. I plan to use it to learn some smoker lessons and look to upgrade when it wears out.

My husband is all smiles! I bought this grill as a Christmas gift for my husband and he is so excited about it! He says it's of really great quality and it's just the right size.

initial installation review. Two of the leg's had base plates that were curled up at 45 degrees. Had to get out my welding vise grips to try and realign them with the curvature of the barrel. The offset smoker did not align at a 90 degree angle with the barrel so the firebox had gaps in it when I tightened it. I had to drill some extra bolt holes to try and pull the gap together. The instructions for the handles showed lock washers being applied on the flange nut side, i.e. the ones with the grip. It should be applied on the bolt side. Its okay for the price. Really basic welds, be nice if they did 100% welds on all joints instead of just enough to keep it together. Need some robots to automate it.

good product. only complaint i have is that when i assembled it i found the one piece broken so i don't have as much range in temp to raise ad lower the coals

Wish metal was a little thicker. Bought this to replace my 17 year old grill. Metal seems to be thin. Hope it will last me 10 plus years. Only time will tell. I like how well it cooks.

Love this grill!! Great quality for the price! Easy set up. I cook my lunches for the week on Sundays. This grill cooks enough meat and indirectly cook vegetables so I don't have to heat up my kitchen on hot summer days.

Pros and cons. I just got this smoker a couple of weeks ago. And it's been great. It adds a great bark and flavor to all I'm cooking. One negative thing about this smoker is the lid seems to be about a quarter inch to half an inch larger than the bottom barrel. I thought it might just be mine but went back to the store where I bought it and looked at the display model and it was the same way so I think that might be a factory defect on the precision of the steel as it's being made. The reason this is a disappointing is because it lets out so much smoke and heat. I put some lava lock seal around the edges but that didn't help too much. It almost made it worse. Other than that though it does a really great job at smoking the meat so far.

Looks nice. Put together. Haven't used yet (still winter here). Surprised for the price, the heavy duty quality is very good. Looks like it will last more than a couple of years!!!
