Char-Griller Folding Probe Thermometer

What I needed…. I didn’t know what I was missing until now. This one is larger than others I’ve seen and was easy to use. A perfect way to start a fire with very little effort.

Ease of the chimney. Regular chimneys spill burning ash when you empty them, this just falls out the bottom, much safer.

The ultimate charcoal chimney starter. I bought this starter last year. Wow it’s the best. No more trying to tip the chimney over to dump the coals. Just open the trap door.

Chimney makes life easy. Just some firestarter and 10 minutes, works always

Not worth the money. This hasn't worked since I bought it. It just displays "HHH" and that's it.

So simple and safe. I bought this charcoal starter and no more lighter fluid or easy light charcoal taste in my food. Yes charcoal lighter fluid is great if you let the charcoal burn more than 30 minutes after they turn white but if you’re wanting to grill burgers and sausages on a cookout, sometimes guests don’t have the extra time to wait for food. This chimney works great!

Exactly what I was wanting. Got this chimney specifically for the quick release function. Excellent product.

Easy to use. For someone that had a hard time starting the fire and doesn’t want to use lighter fuel (you should not be doing that in the first place) this is a must have to get your grill fire started with the right amount of charcoal

Sturdy. The one from lowes rusted and doesn't work. This one stays solid, minimal rust

So far, so good. Have only used it twice. Sometimes block charcoal gets stuck but thats to be expected. I have one without the trigger but im giving it to my daughter too.

Bottom Falls Out! I bought this item a few years ago and forgot to write a review, that's on me. However, after a few uses this item decided that the bottom would fall out when pulling the lever to allow the charcoal out. I think I may have used it about 10 times and that's when the bottom started to fall out. I have tried everything to prevent, but there is not fix for it that I know of. Other than that I think it's a very good product. However, because of this issue I would not recommend this item.

Good grab, heating coals evenly to white - worked well

Saves times. I like the release button. It heats very quick which is always a nice time saver.

Never worked for me. The bottom plate never opens.

Trigger release chimney. Been grilling for years now on my char-griller 2727 and love the the char-griller chimney for the mechanics of use, and char-griller chimney is all I ever purchased and used over the years. I cant give 5 stars because the chimney outlast the trigger plate and the plate just keeps rotting out. I wish Char-griller would sell that plate separate. Char-griller products happen to be 0ne of my favorites as I grill 4 to 5 times a week but wish I could give 5 stars.

Must have. I love my chimney starter! This is the fastest way to get your charcoal ready (except for the extreme propane method). The trigger release really helps to dump the charcoal in a controlled pile. To tip it over and dump it out the top end is a little messy as the charcoal scatters more. To light it, I use either paper or sternos (because I have an unlimited supply of partially used sternos). I usually add paper to it a couple of times before it takes off. It's a great way to get rid of trash paper and cardboard that keeps piling up at home. I recommend using clean waste and not lighter fluid. I'm surprised at how many people aren't familiar with the chimney starter and don't use it. I cook daily almost exclusively with charcoal and lump coal. It's time consuming but the chimney starter really speeds it up. I use it for grills and dutch ovens. It's also handy for wok cooking if you have a wok stand that will hold the wok over the chimney starter with a gap.

Very good Chimney. I had used other brands and they don't last as the one from Char-Griller. This is a really good quality and works like a charm.

Fast Light for Your Grill. i have found using a charcoal chimney THE fastest, cleanest way to get my charcoal going ultra fast.

Total Upgradeq. Use to have a standard chimney but always would get pretty hot when it came time to dumping the coals. With the Char-Griller trigger release that is a thing of the past. Not when the coals are fired up just hit the trigger and they drop from the bottom without any fuss. Seems like a small change to the chimney but makes a huge difference.

Eliminate the taste and smell of lighter fluid! Fill it with good chemical free charcoal, place it over the propane / gas burner and lite it up! Let it burn for a few minutes, empty it into the charcoal side grill and cook away! Works with the smoker also! Taste your food as it was meant to be! Outstanding!

Only way to do it. I have been using this chimney for quite awhile and this has to be the best way to start your coals! No fluid needed, just some paper(use your bag) or starting bricks and you are ready to go.

Only one I've seen with a trap door. Chimney starters are much better than lighter fluid for getting charcoal going. Why use chemicals when you can use physics? The trigger pull unload is a neat innovation and makes it easy to unload the burning coals, but it does add complexity and failure points. But no chimney starter is going to last forever getting such extreme heat anyway. A tip for another use: put a small section of cast iron grate across the top to turn this charcoal jet into the hottest steak searing grill. Perfect for finishing a sous vide ribeye quick. Yum!

Easy to use. I bought this when I purchased my charcoal grill over two years ago and I still use it. It's much better than using lighter fluid - I never did like the fumes emitted when using lighter fluid. The main problem I have now is that newspaper is harder to get, so I've stated using torn up paper plates (non-coated of course) when I don't have newspaper available.

No more petroleum taste. After years of me using lighter fluid I was tired of the taste of lighter fluid in my steaks and burgers. I tried cubes, etc and they took so many trying to light a large pile of charcoal. I tried off brand chimneys but they are scary to dump when they are fully burning. Simple and efficient. What more is there to say than it’s simple and efficient. I use leftover greasy paper towels that I use to clean my griddle as a fire starter. It works perfectly heats up the charcoal easy and fast.

The triger release is nice. like that you don`t have to dump the charcoal out and goes where you don`t want it.

Great chimney. This chimney is larger than most so you know you'll have plenty of charcoal for any job. My chimney has lasted much longer than other chimney I have had in the past. I believe this is the best chimney on the market.

Oldie but a Goodie. O have had my Chimney starter for several years and still use occasionally when I fire up my old Kettle Grill for a good old fashioned charcoal BBQ on special events. The Trigger helps drop the charcoal at the right time.

Hot coals, no petroleum, super efficient. I use Am*zons shipping paper and a little peanut oil to get nice coals in about 15 minutes max. The release is so much easier to use in the side smoker rather than trying to tip over the other type.

Works well, wears out with moving parts eventually. Worked until it didn't, but my other chimney after without the trigger rusted out, so build quality is fine. Just like any bbq part, with use needs replacement. No better way to start a hot fire!

Better than other brands. I have used a couple different versions of the charcoal chimney, but Char-Griller’s is the best. The trigger feature with the drop down chute is the magic part. Others you have to pour out, but this one you just pull the trigger and let the coals fall. Safer and much more efficient and user friendly!

Charcoal Chimney. Have been using this chimney when camping, fast and efficient. I’d recommend this product to everyone who uses charcoal. One downside, trigger sticks if not used over a 9 month period.

Not bad for the price... It did its job, but to be honest it always felt kinda flimsy. The inside panel released by the trigger fell out every single time which meant I had to fish it out of a hot pile of coals and wait for it to cool to reassemble.
