This Rove Concepts Tola chair review covers the whole Tola family we carry: the Tola Dining Chair, the Tola Lounge Chair, the Tola Bench, and the outdoor versions of the dining and lounge chairs. Tola is a curved, fully upholstered seat on a stained wood frame, and the main questions buyers ask are how big each piece is, how firm it feels, which fabrics hold up, and whether the outdoor version is a true outdoor chair. Everything below comes from our listings and Rove Concepts’ own product and policy pages, checked 4 October 2026. We are an authorized Rove Concepts dealer.

Tola Dining Chair review
The dining chair is the piece most people mean by “Tola chair.” It has a rounded, wraparound back that flows into the seat, a rubberwood frame in a walnut stain with black screws, and floor glides on the legs. Rove notes that the backrest is softer than the seat cushion, which is the right way around for a dining chair: you sit upright on a firmer base and lean into something that gives a little.
The numbers that matter for fit:
- 18.5 inch seat height. That pairs with a standard 28 to 30 inch dining table. Our dining table size guide explains the seat-to-tabletop gap and how much table length each chair needs.
- 17.7 inch seat depth. Moderate. Shorter diners can sit back fully; very tall diners may want more thigh support.
- 20 inch width. That fits inside the roughly 24 inches of table length per diner that our sizing guide uses.
The chair is tested to ANSI/BIFMA safety and durability standards per the listing, rated to 330 lb, weighs 19 lb, and needs assembly. On Rove’s site it holds a 4.9 rating from 67 reviews.
Tola Lounge Chair review
The lounge chair takes the same curved shape and widens it into a living room accent chair: 34.1 inches wide with a 22.5 inch deep seat set lower at 16.9 inches. That combination means you sink back rather than perch, which suits reading or a conversation corner more than a desk. Like the dining chair, the back is softer than the seat, it is ANSI/BIFMA tested, and it is rated to 330 lb. Rove shows 4.9 stars from 39 reviews.
Because the seat is deep, petite sitters may want a lumbar pillow. Our seat depth guide applies the same way to chairs as to sofas.
Tola Bench
The Tola Bench is 66.9 inches long with 55.1 inches of usable seat width, a 17.9 inch seat height and the same walnut-stained rubberwood frame. It works at the foot of a bed, in an entry, or along one side of a dining table. One caution for dining use: its 17.9 inch seat is slightly lower than the dining chair’s 18.5 inches, so mixing them puts diners at a slightly different height.
A pricing note in fairness to you: our Tola Bench listing ($832) is currently above Rove’s own price for it ($699 regular, $629 on sale when we checked). Please call 866-777-2590 before ordering the bench so we can confirm pricing.
Tola fabrics: what to choose
The indoor Tola chairs are offered in a long fabric list on our listings, including Modern Felt, Plush Velvet, Maria Signature Plush Velvet, Chatou Boucle, Leuven Linen, Venice Vegan Suede and Shearling. A few practical points:
- Dining chairs see spills. Velvet and vegan suede wipe up more easily than an open boucle or shearling loop, which can trap crumbs.
- Stock varies by color. When we checked, Rove marked only some Tola Dining Chair colors as in stock, with the rest built to order. Built-to-order colors take longer, so ask us for current timing before you commit to a set.
- Care differs by fabric. Rove publishes care rules by fabric type; our Kaye sofa review summarizes what Rove says for several of these fabrics.
Tola outdoor chairs: what changes
The outdoor dining and lounge chairs keep the Tola shape but switch to an oil-stained acacia frame, fast dry foam and water-resistant fabric in two colors, Palisades and Fresco. Dimensions are within a fraction of an inch of the indoor versions, so a mixed indoor and outdoor set looks consistent. Rove recommends its custom-fit covers to protect them; we carry the Tola Outdoor Dining Chair Cover ($167) and the Tola Outdoor Lounge Chair Cover ($209).
Warranty is worth reading closely. Rove’s refund and warranty policy gives indoor furniture 5 years on metal or solid wood structural failures and 1 year on soft parts. For Rove Outdoor Furniture it lists 3 years on metal structural failures and 1 year on soft parts and workmanship. The outdoor Tola has a wood frame, so ask us how its coverage applies before you buy. The outdoor versions have only a handful of reviews on Rove’s site so far (2 and 3 when we checked).
Price, membership and shipping
Our Tola Dining Chair ($405), Lounge Chair ($769), and outdoor chairs ($419 and $839) match Rove’s current regular prices. Rove members pay less on Rove’s own site (Rove showed about $243 for the dining chair and $461 for the lounge chair), so if you are buying a large set, our membership breakdown is worth a look.
Shipping is where the math changes. Rove’s store policy lists $159 flat-rate standard shipping on orders up to $5,000 retail, with 1 to 3 weeks estimated transit. We ship free freight in the contiguous U.S. on orders of $999 or more and charge $200 flat below that. A set of four dining chairs ($1,620) clears our free shipping threshold; a single chair does not. Returns follow our return and refund policy.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Tola dining chair comfortable?
Rove designs it with a softer backrest than seat, and the 18.5 inch seat height and 17.7 inch seat depth suit most adults at a standard dining table. Very tall diners may find the seat a little short front to back.
What is the difference between the Tola lounge chair and dining chair?
The lounge chair is wider (34.1 vs 20 in), lower (16.9 vs 18.5 in seat height) and much deeper (22.5 vs 17.7 in seat depth). It is made for relaxing, not for sitting at a table.
Can the indoor Tola chair go outside?
It is not listed for outdoor use. For a patio, choose the Tola Outdoor Dining or Lounge Chair, which has an acacia frame, fast dry foam and water-resistant fabric.
How much weight can a Tola chair hold?
Every Tola piece we list, including the bench, is rated to 330 lb.
Does the Tola chair come assembled?
No. All Tola pieces need assembly per the listings. Questions? Call 866-777-2590, Monday to Friday, 9AM to 6PM PST.
