Rove Concepts vs Castlery: Which Is Better?

Rove Concepts vs Castlery comes up a lot because both sell modern, online-first furniture at a similar price level, and both lean toward deep, soft sofas. The short answer: Rove publishes more construction detail and a lower flat shipping fee, while Castlery offers free delivery above a spend threshold in selected cities, delivery tiers with assembly, and a longer frame warranty on upholstery. Which is better depends on what you value most. This comparison uses only what each company publishes on its own pages.

Full disclosure: The Everything Depot is an authorized Rove Concepts dealer. We do not sell Castlery. We have kept this to facts from pages we opened on 2 November 2026, and we point out where Castlery may suit you better.

Build and comfort: what each brand tells you

Rove lists detailed construction on its sofa pages. These examples come from our Rove product pages:

  • Porter Sofa: 84.6 in wide, 25 in seat depth, 14.5 in seat height. Kiln-dried hardwood frame with doweled joints and reinforced corner blocks, 8 gauge sinuous springs, 3 layer high-density foam and a 990 lb listed weight capacity. From $2,743.
  • Diane Sofa: 88.6 in wide, 24.4 in seat depth, 16.5 in seat height, same frame, spring and foam build, soft feel, tested to ANSI/BIFMA standards. From $2,468.
  • Berlin Sofa: 94.6 in wide with channel tufting and 3 layer foam topped with goose down. From $2,799.
  • Nuvo Sofa: a modular piece, 77 in wide with a 23.6 in seat depth, two foam layers topped with feather cotton and removable pillow covers. From $2,743.
  • Kaye Sectional Sofa S: 108.5 x 68.5 in, tool-free connectors and fully removable covers. From $3,779.

Castlery’s product pages focus more on feel and features. Its Dawson Sofa page, for example, describes feather-filled, deeply cushioned seats, removable covers that machine-wash and a modular build, and it was listed at $2,298 when we checked. The page we opened did not give frame or spring details in a form we could verify, so we will not guess. If construction is your deciding factor, compare the frame material, joinery, spring system and fill listed on the specific Castlery piece with the Rove specs above.

Comfort is personal. Both brands sell deep, plush seats, so measure your own sitting depth and read are Rove Concepts couches comfortable before you choose.

Castlery vs Rove Concepts sofa delivery

Rove. Standard shipping is a flat $159 up to $5,000 retail, delivered to the first dry area such as a garage or lobby. White Glove adds an appointment, inside placement up to one flight of stairs, assembly and removal of large packaging. Rural zip codes can add fees, and in-stock orders carry an estimated 1 to 3 week lead time, including up to a week of warehouse processing.

Castlery. Shipping is free on subtotals of $1,399 or more to selected cities; otherwise delivery fees vary by zip code. Standard delivers to the ground floor, lobby or first dry area. Room of Choice places items in the room you pick, and White Glove adds full assembly and garbage removal; both include up to two flights of stairs. Late changes inside three business days of delivery carry a $100 re-delivery fee.

If you want assembly included and live in a Castlery delivery city, its White Glove tier is clearly described and priced. If you want a known, flat shipping number, Rove’s is simpler.

Returns, custom orders and warranty

Both allow about 30 days. Rove requires original packaging and like-new condition, does not refund delivered shipping charges, and does not accept returns on custom orders, Final Sale items or parts. Custom Rove orders carry a non-refundable $195 administration fee and, for orders placed from 26 February 2026, a 14 to 20 week lead time. Read our Rove Concepts lead times guide for timing.

Castlery charges a 20% restocking fee on returns, adds $50 per item without the original packaging, and does not return Clearance or Final Sale items. On warranty, Castlery’s published 10 year frame coverage on sofas is longer than Rove’s 5 year structural coverage. Rove’s warranty also excludes fabric, foam and leather, and replacement parts have a 14 to 24 week lead time with labor and shipping on you.

Castlery alternative: who should choose which

Choose Rove Concepts if

  • You want published frame, spring and foam specs and listed weight capacities before you buy
  • You want a wide fabric range (the Porter lists 101 finish options)
  • You want free warehouse pick-up in California or British Columbia, or a flat shipping fee
  • You want modular pieces with removable covers, such as the Kaye or Nuvo

Choose Castlery if

  • You live in one of its delivery cities and your order reaches $1,399
  • You want room-of-choice delivery or assembly at a published price
  • A 10 year frame warranty matters more to you than spec detail
  • You want to sit on pieces at its New York showroom first

Price: comparing fairly

Rove’s site advertises a members’ discount, and if you are furnishing several rooms a membership may be the cheapest way to buy Rove. Castlery runs its own sale events. Compare the exact pieces you want on the same day with delivery included. A third route for Rove is a dealer: The Everything Depot ships free freight on orders of $999 or more and charges a flat $200 below that. Our return and refund policy applies to orders placed with us. See where to buy Rove Concepts furniture for all three options, or browse the full Rove Concepts collection.

Frequently asked questions

Is Rove Concepts or Castlery better quality?

Rove publishes more build detail, such as kiln-dried hardwood frames, 8 gauge sinuous springs and listed weight capacities. Castlery publishes a longer frame warranty. Neither fact alone settles quality, so compare the specs and warranty of the exact sofa you want.

Is Castlery cheaper than Rove Concepts?

It depends on the piece, the sale running that week and whether you buy a Rove membership. Compare delivered prices on the same day rather than relying on list prices.

Which has the better return policy?

Both give about 30 days. Castlery takes a 20% restocking fee; Rove does not refund delivered shipping and needs the item back at its warehouse within 30 days. Read both pages before ordering.

What is a good Castlery alternative for a deep sofa?

The Rove Porter and Diane sofas have seat depths around 24 to 25 inches. Our Rove Concepts vs West Elm and Rove Concepts vs Crate and Barrel comparisons cover other options, and our guide to buying designer furniture online explains what to check on any sofa.
