Rove Concepts vs EQ3: Modern Furniture Compared

Rove Concepts vs EQ3 is a close match on style: both sell modern furniture with plenty of fabric and finish choice, and both have Canadian roots (Rove says its pieces are designed in Vancouver; EQ3 is based in Winnipeg). The real differences are in the policies. EQ3 makes its custom upholstery in its own Winnipeg facility and puts a 25 year warranty on upholstery frames and springs, but custom pieces become final sale 48 hours after you order, and stocked furniture has a 7 day return window. Rove Concepts gives you a 30 day return window on regular stock, a flat $159 standard shipping fee up to $5,000, and a 5 year warranty on structural metal and solid wood.

Full disclosure: The Everything Depot is an authorized Rove Concepts dealer. We do not sell EQ3. Everything below about EQ3 comes from EQ3’s own pages, and everything about Rove’s policies comes from Rove’s own pages, all opened on 5 November 2026. Where a company does not say, we write “Not listed”.

EQ3 furniture review: what EQ3 tells you

Made in Winnipeg, with a caveat

EQ3 says product design, R&D and custom upholstery manufacturing all happen under one roof at its Winnipeg headquarters, so a sofa goes from sketch to production line in the same building. It is also upfront that not everything it sells is made in Canada.

The warranty is the headline

EQ3’s warranty page lists 25 years on the frame and spring construction of its custom upholstery, 5 years on leather and 1 year on fabric, each covering manufacturing defects. Two limits: floor models and clearance items are not covered, and coverage applies only to the original purchaser. Fabric pilling and wood variation are not warranty issues.

The return window is short

This is where EQ3 is strict. Stocked furniture, including ready-to-ship upholstery, beds, dining tables and chairs, can be returned within 7 days of delivery or pickup, must be returned through the store where you bought it, and a pickup fee applies to large items. Items without original packaging carry a 20% restocking fee. Custom upholstery, COM upholstery, floor models and clearance pieces are final sale. EQ3 does offer a one-time price adjustment within 14 days of purchase.

What Rove Concepts tells you

Rove’s product pages publish detailed construction specs. Examples from our Rove listings, at today’s prices:

  • Dresden Modular Sectional: 170 x 88.25 in, kiln-dried hardwood frame with doweled joints, 8 gauge sinuous springs, 3 layer foam topped with goose feathers, 880 lb listed capacity. From $6,299.
  • Reya Curved Sectional: 131.9 in wide, same frame and spring build, medium feel. From $4,661.
  • Belia Sectional Sofa: 118.2 x 78.8 in, tufted, a 26.7 in seat depth and a 15.7 in seat height for low, deep lounging. From $5,417.
  • Kyoto Sectional Sofa: solid acacia wood construction, 132.3 in wide. $6,579.
  • Tola Dining Chair: rubberwood with walnut stain, 18.5 in seat height, 330 lb limit, tested to ANSI/BIFMA standards. From $405.
  • Sarina Bed: upholstered with solid walnut legs, European slats with two preset heights and a 1,325 lb listed limit. From $2,986.
  • Hunter Bed: walnut or ash veneer, 750 lb limit. From $2,099.

On policy, Rove’s 30 day return window is longer than EQ3’s 7 days for stocked furniture, but you pay the return shipping if you are outside its fulfillment area, and outbound shipping is not refunded once delivered. Custom orders cannot be returned at all, and Final Sale items carry only a 90 day warranty. Rove’s 5 year coverage is for structural metal and solid wood; soft parts and workmanship get 1 year, and fabric, leather and foam are excluded. Rove Concepts alternatives: who should choose which

Choose EQ3 if

  • You live near one of its Canadian showrooms and want to sit on a sofa before you buy.
  • You plan to keep an upholstered piece for decades and value a 25 year frame and spring warranty.
  • You want custom upholstery built in the brand’s own facility and can decide within 48 hours.

Choose Rove Concepts if

  • You want a known, flat shipping fee and published construction specs on each piece.
  • You want more time to decide on stock items: 30 days instead of 7.
  • You are in the US and cannot get to a showroom; Rove offers free warehouse pick-up in Compton, CA.

If you are still weighing other brands, our Rove Concepts vs Article and Rove Concepts vs West Elm comparisons use the same method, and our Rove Concepts vs Castlery page covers another deep-sofa rival.

Modern furniture brands compared: price, fairly

We have not compared EQ3 prices item by item, so we will not claim either is cheaper. To compare fairly, match the same size and configuration, then add delivery, any White Glove fee and, for custom work, Rove’s $195 admin fee. Our guide to buying designer furniture online walks through measuring, freight and returns.
